I think he could man it pretty passably. He's got the range.

He could mirror the real world Cubs and move Alcantara to CF. The move has worked great for me so far in 2015.

That's sick. That is a disgusting offense.
I think the Cubbies would end the drought. 2 problems though, pitching and Castro.

I'd be dealing Soler for pitching, honestly, then signing the rest of them. Guys like Arrieta.

Absolutely. He's been splitting time between 2b/CF lately.

Yep, but plan is to play him 2 games per week out there. Switch hitter with speed and a good arm, and getting experience in the OF. What reason is there to not move him to CF?

Wasn't sure about the arm was my thing.

He doesn't exactly have a cannon, but MLB.com rates his arm at 60, the same as his speed.

Alcantara is the 3rd best SS in this lineup. If anyone goes to CF, it would be him.

I think the Cubs trying him in CF has something to do with Almora not being able to cultivate any meaningful plate discipline or approach past "see ball, hit ball." so far. It also has to do with Alcantara having a history as an error machine while playing short back at A+ Daytona and AA Tennessee. CF would be a good way to use his speed and athleticism, but minimize his chances to boot the baseball and make errant throws in the infield.

A thousand times yes. Baez and Castro are both error prone and can check out for innings at a time on defense, but Alcantara is no different and is much less polished at SS.

Thats exactly how I use him, as well as at the top of my lineup to small ball may way to wins.

Alcantara looks to be a pretty good prospect.. but he's still just a prospect at this point. Castro has proven (and is proving again this year) that he can hit at the MLB level.

Almora looks to be a couple of years away at least. There is a plethora of INF players in the system, and a lack of MLB-ready OF prospects. It makes a lot of sense to move one to the OF and see what happens.
