Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Just looking for some general advice for my Cardinals franchise. This team could use one more big bat in the lineup and I have plenty of young starting pitching to offer in a trade. If I were to give up either Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly, Jaime Garcia or Trevor Lyons (or some combination of 2-3 of them), what would be a good place to find that bat with a lot of pop?

Thankfully I can be really flexible with where they play, seeing as my most important guys (Carpenter, Craig, Holliday) can play a good chunk of positions (Allen Craig can play pretty much anywhere, it's incredible). I wouldn't hate keeping Matt Adams in the lineup, but if a better first baseman comes along, his .111 average in the middle of April isn't really worth saving.

I would also prefer if they were under or near 30, but that's not an deal breaker.

Someone I had thought would be a good fit would be Edwin Encarnacion, although I was unaware he was all the way up at an 88 overall.

Michael Cuddyer (He plays 1B better than RF) for Lance Lynn could work.

Which of these players is the most realistic player to get?

Hosmer, Heyward or Sale? I can give each team top 10-15 prospects for the positions they need.

Damn, they`re all hard to acquire, but my gut says Hosmer. I would say Heyward, but the Braves have little to replace him (unless, you trade them a near-MLB ready OF...)

Well the Braves have a top A potential prospect behind him at CF who is pro ready. Would that change things? I could also give them Venable who is gonna be an All-Star this year.

I want the trades to be fair and realistic. Here's what I would offer all three teams. Tell me if you think are unrealistic to be moved for these offers.

Heyward for Venable and an A potential 2B pro ready.

Hosmer for an A potential 2B pro ready 2B, Venable, and a B potential SP/Josh Johnson

Sale for an A potential 2B pro ready 2B, Cory Luebke and Cashner/Street/Ian Kennedy.

Sale for an A potential 2B pro ready 2B, Cory Luebke/Cashner/Kennedy and an A potential 63 overall 23 year old SP.

Fair trade as the Yankees trying to acquire Josh Donaldson?

Heyward trade: I like it, since if I remember correctly, you said he`s doing very well.
Hosmer trade: I would do A POT 2B Prospect - B POT SP Prospect

Lance Lynn for Alexei Ramirez could work. You could build a package around Carlos Martinez for Starlin Castro or Joe Mauer, if you wanted. Lance Lynn for Howie Kendrick could work. Orioles you 100% send you JJ Hardy for some young pitching, then play Schoop at SS until Machado could take over.

In my Brewers franchise I want to prepare for the possibility of letting Yovani Gallardo go after this year. I want to try and trade for a youngish Lefty that is MLB ready. I'd like him to be under 28 and at least have #4 #5 potential just so I can fit him in this year at some point if need be.

My ideal guy would be Martin Perez but I don't know if he's realistic as he probably has more of #2 potential imo. Any other suggestions would be very appreciated. Of course this is all planning ahead so I have no stats to show.

Drew Smyly (DET) or Robbie Erlin (SD) might work for you.

An upgrade at third base makes the most sense to me for the Cardinals, as they'd shift Matt Carpenter back to second and leave Peralta at short. Chase Headley was a name mentioned earlier in the thread that makes sense to me. Maybe start with Piscotty (no room for him in a crowded St. Louis outfield, although his stock is rising) and add someone like an Alex Reyes or one of Gonzeles, Kaminsky, or Cooney (all 3 lefty starters). If Carpenter moves to second Kolten Wong is also a possibility in such a deal. Trading those prospects would maintain your big league pitching rotation with Lynn/ Kelly, and I don't think Garcia and Lyons have a ton of value.

I don't think the Pads or Tigers want to lose too much pitching depth though.

When I start my Indians franchise I want to try and deal Asdrubal Cabrera right around the trade deadline. If my team is in the race and Cabrera isn't putting up all-star numbers I want to try and deal him along with Lonnie Chisenhall and maybe a minor league B/C potential player that has a high talent floor. If I'm in the race, ideally I'd like to pick up a true DH with some serious power and OBP skills. If I'm out of the race I'd like to add a young LHP as the Indians don't have one in their rotation or a young one that will be coming up soon. So I need a trade partner that needs a 3B and SS who can give me their terrible fielding LF/1B that can hit basically, or a team that is looking to plus those 2 holes and give me that young pitcher. Any thoughts?
