Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
well yes he is wrong, those are opinions not expectations, expectation is for him to see the minors 2 MAYBE 3 more years (doubtful). and making it to the league means he's up in 2 years (he turns 20 soon)Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
no it still wouldnt be worth it for Cleveland, even if he keeps pitching that well this year his value will go up, but being a FA after the year and not very established, plus will be 30 next year also while Salazar should only get better and has 4 more years before he's arb eligable/FA IIRC. but since im taking into acount before this season started, i think Anderson (23 yr with a career minor league ERA of 2.86 and WHIP of 1.2 before this year) Ramirez (21 year old Inf with a career .310 BA and .360 OBP in minors) and Aguliar (24 year old 1B/3B with .275 career BA and .345 OBP) would be a good return if you were just looking for prospects.
Cleveland would lose Masterson, Samardzija and Salazar all in a year, that would get everyone fired on the spot including Tito.
The Cubs are not trading Samarzdija without getting Salazar back. He is under control through next season, so there is no rush, and when they do trade him, they will get a promising pitching prospect. The way he is pitching this season, he is only increasing his value. Is Salazar + Frazier too much? Of course, but the Cubs are not going to trade him for a package anywhere close to what you offered above.
Cody Anderson the best prospect in the deal? That's not even close. The Cubs wanted Sanchez and Stroman from the Blue Jays, to give you an idea of what it takes to get a deal done. I'm sure they would settle for less, but I guarentee they get a better pitching prospect than Cody Anderson.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Samardzija cant pull Salazar, not good enough, sorry thats just the way it is. The Cubs can want whatever they want, they'll just lose him for a draft pick at some point then which is virtually nothing. The Cubs will trade him for a package close to what was posted, thats pretty much guarenteed. you seem to be confused that what the Cubs want for him in a deal means they will get for him in a deal, which isn't how baseball works.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thats also because your not a realistic poster and think Samardzija has a higher value then he does. so your saying Justin Masterson is worth a Kris Bryant or Albert Almora?
how much value do you think a soon to be 30 year old pitcher with a career ERA over 4, only 2 years experiance as a SP, and an average WHIP or H/9 has? its not like he's some ACE that will put a team over, he's like Masterson, a low end #1, but a really good #2 on most other teams in baseball.Comment

Look, Samardzija is going to fetch a top 100 prospect no matter what. He is very good pitcher is you actually watch him and it really turning into a true number one or two this season. The price of pitching is skyrocketing, you think he won`t get the Cubs at least ONE top 100? You`re out of your mind.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
It seems that a lot of you miss a really key point and that is people will over pay if they need him. If a team is gonna make the run for the playoffs they will pay extra in order to get Smardzja.
Also, my post got lost in all this arguing but what do you guys think is a realistic and fair expectation to get Heyward (the Braves have a 20 year old 72 overall A potential CF also)/Stanton? Before you say they wouldn't move these guys and that is unrealistic, that is only because it is not realistic for a team to pay an absurd amount for them. Given the right value they can be traded. My farm system is behind loaded and I need to get rid of people. Any ideas?Last edited by 1andonly; 04-24-2014, 02:06 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
you two need to settle down. the cubs will not trade him right now for less that a top 100 prospect. this is a true statement.
nobody will trade a top 100 prospect for him. this is a true statement also.
in the end. he isnt going anywhere this year. maybe at the beginning or at the trade deadline next year when the asking price lessens.Comment

a top 100 prospect averages out to be about 3 top prospects for each team, i dont think its unreasonable to say that he wont get a teams top prospect PLUS others unless they are low A career minor league fillers.Comment

No YOU and other cub fans are out of YOUR minds. he's not that good, if he was he wouldn't have gotten lit up like a christmas tree last year and posted an ERA of almost 4.5. Like i said, his career is nearly identical to Masterson, the FACTS prove me right, but you wouldn't give up Bryant or Almora for Masterson now would you?
