    Re: MLB 14 The Show Q & A (PS4)

I'm new to the show, as I'm previous 2k baseball player (former Xbox360 user)

So my question is... while batting theres these options pre-swing (left on the pic). How's these used? You can select power swing but what about those different options? Quessing pitchers pitches?

Anyone know how you sign the players you took in the amatuer draft in franchise mode?

Glad to hear it and I'm sure curious what it addresses. Its strange how there's no word about it yet given how closely the game is followed.

Too bad that is not supported. I don't see why they couldn't really - just make player 2 only take control of the SS on each play and only take his at bats and base running.

Anyway - once I am in a game with player lock on, is there a way to remove it? Or likewise if I'm in a game without it, is there a way to add it? If so, how?

The only way I can see to bring up a line up when in game is to press the mouse pad. It shows the line up but no players are selectable to hit R2 on. Thanks again.
I believe hitting R2 disables it....and then hitting R2 on another player locks him.

Using the X button is "normal" swing...using the square button is power and the O is contact....you use them IN SWING(meaning you use them to swing....not hit them and then use X all the time)
As for guess pitch.....make sure it's enabled in your settings and I believe it's L2 or L1(it's one of the shoulder buttons) and then hitting the designated button for the pitch you think it's going to be. Guessing correctly gives you a slight bonus on the swing.

There is a box on the front end that actually says SIGN DRAFT PICKS....it's only available after the draft....but at any time until the end of season I believe.
Unfortunately there is not much to it as they don't really decline if you offer them their asking price.

Right but my questions is how do you you select the player in-game once it has started. If I hit the mouse pad it brings up the line-up, but there's no way to scroll to a players name to then do a toggle. Is there a different screen I need to bring up in-game to do this, and if so, how? Thanks!

How does the CPU opposing pitcher's confidence affect their pitching?

For example, let's say his best pitch is a fastball but the confidence is dropped quite low. I assume this means he has less control over the pitch and its harder for him to throw a strike with it. However, does this also mean that he is less likely to select that pitch? I'm asking because if that's the case it will help my in guessing what pitch is coming.

Also on a related note - I read somewhere that the pitcher's best pitch is always mapped to X, and that his next-best pitches then go around the controls counter-clockwise. So his second-best pitch would be mapped to circle, third-best mapped to triangle, and so forth. Is that true?

Pause.....SUBSTITUTIONS....then highlight your desired lock on player and hit R2

Yes...it's mapped that way.....but it really goes by how the pitches are listed in the editor. SCEA will go with best pitch...and descending. But if one pitch "overtakes" another in progression...it does not change the order.
Control is effected .....with more chance of throwing a ball or a hittable pitch when your confidence is effected.

I don't know how much confidence effects how much a the pitch will be picked.

Yes. Pause the game and in the menu go to exit game. Once there you will see an option to save the game.

Now only if they could add this for exhibition games one day 🙏

I was using the PS4 remote play on my Vita and was editing a player's name and couldn't find out what button to hit for Done, which is usually R2 on the PS4 I think. Same thing when trying to save a roster and entering a name. I tried touching the top right part of the touch screen or rear pad on the Vita. Anyone know?

I use right analog stick to swing, so why are these shown if I don't need to use them? Basically all I need to do pre-swing is to select square or circle? Thanks

You need to push the left stick towards the runner at first when you press L2. That will only send him, not the guy the 3rd
