Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I finally hit the .500 mark with the Marlins since the 2nd week of the season. I'm current 51-51 near the end of July. 12 GB of the Nationals in the NL East but only 3 GB for the 2nd wild card spot.
Looking to make some trades to help my offense, as I'm near the bottom in every category. Garrett Jones has been abysmal at 1b only hitting around .200. I've benched him placed Casey Mcgehee (my only All Star) at 1st and called up Ed Lucas and have him at 3rd. Marcell Ozuna has also been subpar and has bounced back and forth between AAA and MLB, but Jake Marisnick has just been average as well.
My pitching has been stellar though, top 10 in MLB in all categories.
Looking to make some moves, I'm more interested in a speedy OFer, I can definitely use help with stolen bases as I rank last in the MLB.
Any ideas? Looking for a Angel Pagan type player, good contact and good speed.

Finished @ 94-68 and won the AL East. Taking on the Tigers in the ALDS.

Boston and Oakland are the other half of the AL Playoff picture.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Just ended a Twins franchise (my first The Show franchise ever...just to get my feet wet) and started a franchise with the Mariners...I play every start with Hernandez and Walker, so I average a little more than two games per calendar week. I don't have as much time as a lot of people do on this board haha.

Currently 5-6 on the year after downing the A's 8-5 in the rubber match of the series. Nick Franklin smacked a pinch hit three-run homer in the 8th to break a 5-5 tie. Taijuan Walker gave up runs in the second, fourth, fifth and two in the sixth before getting the hook...struck out 11 though.

Seattle is sitting third, 1.5 games back of the Angels (6-4) and a half-game behind the Rangers (5-5).

The big offseason acquisitions, Corey Hart (.314, 2HR, 4RBI) and Robinson Cano (.286, 1 HR, 1 RBI), are hitting well but Logan Morrison (.429, 3 HR, 8 RBI) is absolutely en fuego.

        DL:
Endy Chavez - 15 day (leg)

        Pitching staff:
Felix Hernandez (1-1, 5.29 ERA), Hisashi Iwakuma, Erasmo Ramirez, Taijuan Walker and James Paxton...Ramirez is 0-3 in all simmed starts, might get booted from the rotation soon.

        Lineup w/DH:
Ackley (CF), Seager (3B), Cano (2B), Hart (RF), Smoak (1B), Morrison (LF), Miller (SS), Saunders (DH), Zunino (C)...Hart, Morrison and Saunders all swap from DH/RF/LF. I really like Franklin though so he will sub Miller out or also rock the DH occasionally.

Big series upcoming with the Rangers. Texas started the year 0-5 and have won five straight...so they're pretty hot. The Marlins are absolutely abysmal...1-10 to start the year.

Ortiz went on the DL and I was getting no production from Stephen Drew or Middlebrooks so I made some moves to shake things up in Boston. We're currently sitting at .500, here's what the depth chart looks like at the moment.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Update in my Cubs franchise: it's now opening day 2015.

In the offseason I traded Darwin Barney to the giants, so 2nd base is now open. I decided 2015 would be the year I'd bring up Kris Bryant and Javier Baez. I still have Starlin Castro, so my current plan is to use Baez at 2B.

Arismendy Alcantara has progressed extremely well in AAA, but he didn't make the big league club out of spring training. Despite Baez being a natural SS, I wanted to give him every chance to transition to 2B, and if it didn't work I'd bring up Alcantara. I also acquired Grant a Green from the Angels in 2014. He's been a very good back up infielder, so I can use him at 2B if needed.

Didn't make any other major moves in the offseason, I did let Nate Schierholtz walk in free agency, and signed Mike Morse to be the everyday right fielder. I know he's not great in the outfield, but I was intrigued by the thought of the Morse/Rizzo power combination. I gave Morse a 1 yr deal.

Opening day '15 against the Pirates: Travis Wood threw 7 shutout innings giving up only 4 hits. Kris Bryant hit a 3 run HR in his 2nd AB, a no doubter, the 1st of his career. Javier Baez went 1-4, didn't look that great, but did ok. Anthony Rizzo hit a 2 run HR also, and my Cubs won 5-0.

Excited to keep going in this Cubs franchise, especially now that some of my prospects are up and others are close.

Game 3: Jason Hammel vs. Anibal Sanchez

After the Yankees take the must win Game 2, the series heads to Comerica Park, tied 1-1. Getting the nod for the Yanks in Game 3 is mid-season acquisition Jason Hammel. Hammel is getting his first postseason action since 2012. Meanwhile the Tigers counter with Anibal Sanchez. The momentum is in the Yankees corner for this Game 3 matchup. Which team will regain control of the series?

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

We have come out of the All-Star break struggling, dropping 2 of 3 to the Dodgers and then splitting a 2 game set with the Rays.

Getting set to play in Wrigley against a Cubs team that has caught fire since the break.

Still deciding what, if any, moves/deals I should make before the deadline. I need one more reliable arm in the pen and I would like to have a bat off the bench.

Thinking about signing Kendrys Morales to a deal for a year if he'll accept and then trading a prospect or two for a veteran relief pitcher.

                Decisions, decisions..

Astros vs. Orioles Radio Play-By-Play Broadcast

The Astros visit Oriole Park at Camden Yards for Game 1 of a 3 game weekend set versus the Baltimore Orioles. Houston, winners of 7 out of their last 10, enter the ball game with a renewed sense of confidence - especially center fielder Mike Trout - who in his last 5 games has increased his batting average by 30 points.

                    Game 4: Tanaka vs. Scherzer

A rematch of Game 1, with the Yankees up 2-1 in the series, if Tanaka can be the Cy Young award winning Tanaka from the regular season, it looks to be an uphill battle for Detroit in this one. Meanwhile, Scherzer will need to turn in a big boy effort in this one, because if the Tigers fall behind 3-1 after tonight, the series is just about over with Cliff Lee looming for Game 5. Can the Yanks seize total control in the series?

Currently 47-33 in my first season with the Yankees. I trail the Rays by a game in the AL East as we are 1 day away from July. Pitching has been excellent as I lead the league in ERA but I'm 25th in RBIs. 1st in home runs however as Ellsbury has hit 15 homeruns. Soriano and Teixeira lead the team with 20. Really struggled with hitting in the beginning but in the month of June really hit my stride. As a first time MLB the Show player this is what I hoped for and more!

                        S-Robertson(3)

In a typical low scoring postseason affair, the Yanks rode the strong pitching of Nova(7IP, 5H, 2BB, 5K's 1ER) and timely hitting to put Cleveland on the brink of elimination.

                        Gm 5
                        Masterson v Tanaka

                        L-Tanaka(1-1)
                        S-Axford(3)

Masterson was masterful in this pitchers duel. He gave up 4 hits and 1 walk over 7.1, fanning 10. The only run scored in the first on a sac fly. Tanaka went 7, giving up 6 hits with 1 walk, striking out 8. Axford made things interesting in the 9th but worked out of trouble, sending the series back to Cleveland.

                        Gm 6
                        Sabathia v Salazar

                        NYY 3 Cle 2

                        NYY wins series 4-2

                        W-Sabathia(3-0)
                        L-Axford(0-1)
                        S-Robertson(4)

Both starters pitched great, but a 2 run homer by Gomes in bottom of 5th gave Cleveland a 2-0 lead. That would hold through 8, when Masterson turned it over to pen for the 9th. Ellsbury reached on a fielder's choice and would score on a Beltran double. After a Tex ground out, McCann can oh yes he can can hit a 2 run shot to right, giving NY a 3-2 lead.

Robertson came on and struck out the first batter, Santana. Swisher lined a single to center, followed by a fly out to center by Morgan. Asdrubal was hit by a curve, moving Swisher to second. Ryan Rayburn stepped up and hit a hard grounder to center. Swisher was headed home to tie the game but Ellsbury fired a dart to McCann, cutting down Swish and ending Cleveland's season.

I'm taking the Rockies Opening Day roster and seeing what I can do with it. Right now, I love their offensive potential with Tulo, CarGo, Arenaldo, and Blackmon. Throw in veteran hitters like Morneau and Cuddyer, and this team can be awfully scary for opposing pitching staffs.

But with that offensive potential comes a pretty mediocre pitching staff. I have a couple of young guns in the minors that can really help this staff in the future, but right now I'm going to have to try and build a decent staff myself.

Here is my depth chart to start the season:

                              Game 5: Lee vs. Verlander

*Sorry forgot to snap the pregame photo*

Game 5 of the ALCS. The Yankees are 9 innings away from finally dispatching their playoff rival Tigers. Meanwhile, Verlander has the weight of the world on his shoulders as he tries to help the Tigers stave off elimination. Which ace will show up for their team in this one?
