Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I started up a fantasy draft 'Chise with the Mariners and completed the first two weeks of the schedule, recording a surprising 7-2 record (3-2 vs LAA, 4-0 vs OAK). Here's how the Mariners lineup looks:

      2B Altuve (13 for 40) .325, 4 SB
      SS Holt (8 for 25) .320, 2 HR, 5 RBI
      1B Hosmer (13 for 43) .302, 1 HR, 6 RBI
      LF Cespedes (11 for 42) .262, 4 HR, 8 RBI
      3B Frazier (5 for 25) .200, 1 HR, 4 RBI, .375 OBP
      RF Arcia (15 for 38) .395, 3 HR, 9 RBI, .439 OBP
      C Ramos (11 for 36) .306, 2 HR, 6 RBI
      DH Lemahieu (5 for 19) .263, 4 RBI
      CF Revere (8 for 37) .216, 2 RBI, 2 SB

      MLB Reserves

      SS/3B Iglesias (9 for 28) .321, 1 RBI, 1 SB
      OF Yelich (2 for 18) .111, 3 RBI
      C Quintero (4 for 13) .308

      MLB Team Offense Stats

      .286 avg (4th)
      13 HR (5th)
      49 RBI (8th)
      7 SB (5th)

      Potential Callups in the Minors

      1B Parmelee (.343, 2 HR, 11 RBI)
      3B Descalso (.300, 5 RBI, 1 SB)
      LF Lambo (.267, 2 HR, 10 RBI)
      2B Harrison (.318, 3 RBI)
      1B/3B Barton (13 for 26, .500, 1 HR, 7 RBI in AA)
OF Dickerson (.333, 3 HR, 8 RBI in AA)

The offense has been good so far for the Fantasy M's!

Lost Justin Smoak for 1-2 months with a fractured wrist. He got hurt sliding into 2B. He had been my best hitter to this point. (In average) called up Montero to give him a shot. If he scuddles then I'll call up Ji-Man Choi who is hitting very well in the minors.

          Made a few roster moves.
DFA Fernando Rodney he had 5 blown saves in 8 chances.
Called up Carson Smith to be my closer.
Traded for catcher Rob Blantley. Gave up a C rated pitcher.
Made all the real trades for Morales, Jackson, and Denorfia.
          DFA Michael Saunders
          Sent Dustin Ackley to AAA.

Corey Hart hitting .318 10 hrs 22 RBI

I just finished my 1st year with the M's, and won the World Series beating the Colorado Rockies in 5 games. I won my 100th game on the last game of the regular season.

Corey Hart went nut's hitting 48 HR's and driving in 142 to take the AL MVP honors and Felix won 22 games and had the best ERA in the Majors 1.79, well Chris Young won 17 games and posted a 3.33 ERA.

I am surprised you struggled with Rodney because in my Franchise he saved 49/53 games and had a ERA of 1.89

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Rule 5 selection RP Dominic Leone showed some of his potential, but the K's rate was disturbingly low. Still, the team figures to use him heavily in the bullpen. Fellow Rule 5 selection Eddie Butler was equally mixed, though that was less of a surprise.
I have a hard time with the Rule 5 draft, because it's unrealistic on what players are available. D. Leone has been one of the M's best RP this year in real life going 4-2 with 2 saves and a 2.41 ERA in 42 IP and E. Butler is the Rockies #2 Prospect and was their 1st Round pick in 2012, so in real life he wouldn't even be available for the Rule 5 yet.

It makes me sad, because last year I had alot of fun looking for a minor leaguer who I thought could help me fill a MLB roster spot, but this year I had to just turn it to Manuel and skip every teams turn.

Same here - had some guys that I were surprised were eligible.

I just feel like if I have to babysit the game through seasons, I might as well just stop bothering with this series and stick with OOTP.

Be all the teams - force the draft to go by undone, watch all the trades, make trades for all the teams, just too much for me. I just want to sit down and use what little time I have to play....to actually play.

Just finished the first game of the ALDS. Will have my season update tomorrow.

Omar Infant was tired of being eliminated early and he went off on Toronto. We were Down 2-0 in the bottom of the 4th. He hit a 2 run single to CF. Next inning up 5-2. Infante hit a 2 run double. Next inning now up 9-2 after a Lorenzo Cain HR. He hits a grandslam to give us a 13-2 lead. 3-4 with 8 RBI.

I predict we now lose 3 straight to lose the ALDS again.

Hart, Cano, and Morales all homered again my last game against the Astros as did Austin Jackson.

Yeah I struggled with Rodney. He did clear outright waivers though so I still have him.
Dominic Leone has been my best pitcher out of the bullpen followed by Brandon Maurer.

Hart is in the MVP race. Both he an Cano are leading All Star votes as starters for their positions. Kyle Seager is just behind Evan Longoria in votes for 3B starter.

First time posting but there's a good reason I'm doing it now. I have an Astros franchise going(OSFM rosters) and I'm currently 20 games into 2015. Anyway, for the first EVER, I pitched a no-hitter!! It was a combined no-no, but still. Jason Hammel, whom I got in free agency, had been terrible his first 2 starts. So bad, I demoted him from 3rd starter to 5th starter. His previous start he was good, but in this start he pitched 9 HITLESS INNINGS against the Marlins! Unfortunately, I failed to score as well. Got the go ahead run in the top of the 10th, and my setup man, Aaron Crow(acquired via trade in year 1) and my closer, JJ Hoover(another year 1 trade) finished the no-no. We're now 12-8, 1.5 games up in the division. Went 82-80 in 2014.

Gloomy days in the Bronx again

So I came home to find that my franchise was corrupted, reset the PS4 & deleted everything on it. Going back to my original idea of playing with some of my favourite younger players and blowing up the Yankees. Below is a summary of what I had planned to do 40 pages or so back.

So last one I'm starting up, Yankees semi-real one again.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well the first month of the season has concluded with the Cardinals a 1/2 game behind the Reds.

                          * The Brett Gardner experiment isn't quite going as planned. Brett is hitting .189 with 8 RBI's and 8 Stolen Bases. He does anchor CF nicely, but he's not getting on base nowhere near the number of times the Cardinals would have hoped (.237 OBP)

                          * Allen Craig is playing solidly at 2B. He has shown flashes of brilliance with the glove and is swinging a hot bat thus far (.319 avg, 9 HR, 19 RBI) Late in games he has been pulled for Mark Ellis and his glove.

                          * The bullpen is atrocious. Joel Peralta and Dominic Leone have lost a combined 5 games thus far into the season and both are sporting an over 6 ERA. Trevor Rosenthal continues to struggle, as he has an over 8 ERA thus far with just 4 saves.

                          * Oscar Taveras has been the right decision for RF. Hitting over .320 and with 5 outfield assists thus far, he is definitely the future of this ballclub.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

The Marlins open the first week-or-so of the season at 5-1 with the offense totally bailing out the pitching in at least two of those games.

The pitchers had real problems against the Phillies, giving up 8 and 7 runs in the first two games. Eddie Butler tried to hold down the fort in game 2 after Brian Flynn left with an injury, while the bullpen was responsible for blowing not one but two leads in game 1.

Both times, the Marlins walked-off with the win. In game 1, Chris Taylor hit a sac fly to win it in 10. In game two, Taylor again came through with a walk-off 2-run double in the 9th.

That is spearheaded Taylor's quick start to the season, perhaps he is getting used to using Marlins Park to his advantage. His early .400 OBP has also allowed him to use his speed to steal bases - a dimension missing from the offense last season. Taylor is 4-for-4 in steal attempts, though he did get picked off once.

Stanton's efforts to cut down on the K's are not working so far. He's struck out in 10 of his 27 ABs. He's also hitting just .222, but he has 4 HR in six games. Definitely been a feast or famine start. Adam Lind is doing well from the clean-up spot while Yelich is liking hitting 5th to this point.

And, of course, Hechavarria has a home run already. Not sure what's going on with the power, but the Marlins will take what they can get out of him at the plate.

In game 3 of the Phillies series, Jose Fernandez gave everyone a scare. He suddenly grabbed his elbow and collapsed on the mound after throwing a curve in the 8th inning. He was carefully taken off the field, but MRI tests were negative and it's being called an inflamed nerve and is listed as day-to-day.

Brian Flynn also dodged trouble as his back acted up in the 3rd inning of game 2, but he was also day-to-day and has since been cleared.

The bullpen has seen the same mixed overall performance. Hanrahan got destroyed in game 1 against the Phillies, his first outing of the season, as he was a big part of the bullpen meltdown in that one. He allowed 4 runs while recording just one out. Carter Capps has started slowly as well, something the team hopes doesn't continue.

Eddie Butler has remained very inconsistent while Dominic Leone and Carlos Marmol have been strong out of the gate. Matt Reynolds just continuing to surprise with his performance, one that is keeping relievers like Dan Jennings still pitching in New Orleans.

The home run ball is plaguing the team - that's been a big part of the problem. That's something the Marlins avoided much of last season, checking in at 2nd in all of baseball in fewest HR allowed.

Am I reading this right?? Allen Craig at 2B??

Yes, I moved Allen Craig to 2B.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
