Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I'm just going to keep him down based on his real life injury. If I need to I'll let him come up next year at the beginning but would prefer to wait until late June/early July.

It took away from my Astros franchise when I quickly called up these guys and had a bunch of prospects playing. I really felt like I didn't follow a true-to-life process which I believe adds immersion to the experience.

It's tempting to call him up but I'll go ahead and just wait.

The future is really bright for the Pirates:

SP Jameson Tallion - proj ETA mid-2015
SP Tyler Glasnow - proj ETA late-2015 or mid-2016
SP Nick Kingham - proj ETA late-2015 or mid-2016
    SS Alen Hanson - proj ETA mid-late 2016/early 2016
OF Austin Meadows - proj ETA early 2017

I have to be patient with these guys and let them develop before I throw them into the fire.

Are the A's really dominant in anyone's franchise?? It's the first month in mine but I mean a 12-1 start is pretty crazy. Their pitching is ridiculous and I've beaten them one time in 7 games.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Just finished the 2014 season. We went 88-74 and won the 2nd WC. We lost to the Tigers, who went on to win the world series.

Now in 2015, here's our team:

        Rotation:
        Felix (2014 CY Young winner)
        Iwakuma
Paxton (GREAT season, 2nd in ROY)
Walker (spent most of 2014 in AAA)
Elias (good #5, will split starts with Erasmo Ramirez)

The bullpen: (I don't really assign roles except for SU and CP

        Brandon Maurer
        Charlie Furbush
        Yoervis Medina
        Tom Wilhelmsen
Dominic Leone (spent all of 2014 in AAA)

        SU Danny Farquhar
        CP Fernando Rodney

Not sure who to replace Rodney with after this season, as it's the last year of his contract and if he doesn't retire, I'm not keeping him.

Anyway, the lineups go like this:

        CF Austin Jackson
        RF/LF Michael Saunders (had a good 2014)
        2B Cano (won batting title)
        DH Kendrys Morales
        3B Seager (hit 32 bombs in 2014)
        C Zunino (hit 28 HRs in 2014)
1B Morrison vs. RHP/Smoak vs. LHP
LF Ackley vs. RHP/RF Gutierrez vs. LHP
SS Miller vs. RHP/Chris Taylor vs. LHP

Also on the bench is back-up Cather Jesus Sucre

Just won opening day vs. the Mets 3-0. Hopefully this year we can make a run at the division instead of opting for a WC berth.

Started a new franchise because Scott's 25-man rosters came out. I was so excited! I'll be posting in here as well as possibly on my blog. I also might start a thread in the dynasty section.

I have a serious problem with my franchise...none of my players are developing. I am the Padres, and have made a ton of trades over the past 5 years in the franchise, and Miguel Sano is still a 75 OVR with A Potential. It is 2019. Shouldn't he have reached his potential? He's been in AAA for years now because I don't promote till they are 80 OVR or better than our actual player.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Started my first franchise finally since Mizzou Roster finally came out with the Cubs. Idc about being realistic I just wanna have fun and try to be fair in all my moves.

The Plan: Use the 1st season to give all my ready now prospects their first taste of the Big Leagues and be somewhat competitive and add young impact pitching.

Moves: Signed Japanese SP Kenta Maeda to a 4yr contract.

Cubs get: SP A.Sanchez and SP M.Stroman
                Blue Jays get: SS A***ssell , SP T.Wood ( 1G 0.00era 9ip) , 3B M.Olt

                Cubs: RP M.Morin , CP C.Bedrosian and RP K.Jepsen
                Angels: SP E.Jackson SP E.Jokisch SP C***sin

Cubs: RP Chris Withrow and C Johnny Monell
Dodgers: RP Kevin Jepsen and RF Nate Schierholtz

I doubt any of those trades were realistic but imo I think there fair and if not idc.

                MLB Roster looks like:
                SP J.Arrieta 90ovr age27 Bpot
                K.Maeda 82ovr age25 Apot

CP: Cam Bedrosian 77ovr age 22 Bpot

                Lineup: CF A.Alcantra 75ovr age 22 Apot
                SS S.Castro 85ovr age 23 Apot
                3B K.Bryant 81ovr age 22 Apot
                1B A.Rizzo 92ovr age 24 Apot
                2B J.Baez 81ovr age 21 Apot
                RF J.Soler 75ovr age 22ovr Apot
                LF J.Lake 74ovr age23 Bpot
                C W.Castillo 81ovr age26 Bpot

Bench: 2B Logan Watkins 79ovr age 24 Cpot
                3B Luis Valbuena 80ovr age28 Bpot
                RF J***ggiano 77ovr age 31 Cpot

Summary: we are pretty stacked as a team unrealistic I know but idc lol I love my team only question marks are at LF and at C but once Almora is ready I will bring him up to play CF and move Alcantra over to LF. As for catcher we will prolly keep Castillo until either Victor Caratini or Kyle Schwarber is ready to replace him unless he proves he can be good consistently. hopefully we can make a run for the playoffs this year but who knows im playing on dynamic difficulty with pulse zone pitching, analog fielding and zone hitting. #NoQuickCounts

                will keep u updated

Currently 2-0 with a 5-2 win for Arrieta over Pit Gerrit Cole where we had 13 hits, and a 4-2 win for Justin Grimm

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Opening day in my Mariners franchise. I have guys like Peterson, Pike, Alex Jackson, and other B-ish prospects stashed in A, I have young guys who are B/C POT in AA (Ketel Marte, etc.). AAA is for guys like Jesus Montero, Justin Smoak, and guys who are MLB-ready and guys who have big league expirience.

                      Rotation:
                      Felix
                      Iwakuma
                      Paxton
                      Elias
                      Chris Young

Guys locked in the rotation all season:
                      Felix, Iwakuma
Guys who could come up and replace Paxton, Elias, or Young:
Erasmo Ramierez, Taijuan Walker, Blake Beavan

                      Bullpen
LR Brandon Maurer (so good as a reliever!)
                      MR Joe Beimel
                      MR Yoervis Medina
                      MR Tom Wilhelmsen
                      MR Charlie Furbush
                      SU Danny Farquhar
                      CL Fernando Rodney

Guys who are locked in the bullpen all season:
Maurer, Medina, Wilhelmsen, Furbush, Farquhar, Rodney
Guys who could come up and replace Beimel if he sucks:
Lucas Luetge, Dominic Leone, Todd Coffey, Logan Kensing

                      Lineup
                      1 CF Austin Jackson
                      2 RF/LF Michael Saunders
                      3 2B Cano
                      4 DH Morales
                      5 3B Seager
6 1B Logan Morrison vs. RHP/Corey Hart vs. LHP
(Either could be replaced by Justin Smoak)
                      7 C Mike Zunino
8 LF Dustin Ackley vs. RHP/RF Chris Denorfia vs. LHP
9 SS Brad Miller (could be replaced by Chris Taylor)

                      Full-time bench players
C Humberto Quintero (could be DFA'd and replaced by Jesus Sucre)
UTL Willie Bloomquist (will spend all year on the roster)

                      Cant wait!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well 2014 season is ten games from completion, I ran with the Mariners and have played every single game with quick counts. It's a strange thing to play this many games and I have no chance of the postseason. The division was close for the whole year with the exception of Houston. With twenty five games to go I pulled within 4.5 games leading into. Four game series against the rangers. They destroyed me in all 4. Then faced Oakland who was the leader and fell to them twice. Robinson Cano was my home run leader but went out with an injury for four weeks the first game against Texas. I will play the rest out and try to be spoiler. Toronto can still grab a wildcard but I will try to prevent it with a four game series. I will then finish at home with three against the Angels and try to stop them from going to the postseason if they are still in the running by then, Oakland Texas and Los Angeles are all within three games of each other. First time since mlb 2k6 I played every game of a season. That year I took the reds to the postseason and lost the World Series to the hated Yankees 4-1. This is my first year with The Show, I was an xbox guy last gen. Man what a fun crazy season. I started May 16th. I think it helps being a buffalo bills fan and buffalo sabres fan watching all those games and not making playoffs lol. The last time I watched my beloved bills in an nfl playoff game was 14 years ago....I have no idea how it will feel to ever watch one again, I'm 34 so it's been a third of my life hoping, anyways back on topic, I have some nice pieces in place for the next season hoping to grab one more star pitcher to go with Hernandez, Cueto (traded for him early season and he was my only all star representative and will finish top five era leader in the AL WITH A 2.74!!! Other notables, I traded for Adam Dunn at the deadline for more power just giving up the young Montero to try to get some power) and I traded two young pitchers for 3bman Bret Lawrie at the deadline as well ( desperately needed some contact and better fielding from that position. Before the all star break Brad Miller kept up a .315 batting average but turned around after the break and is hitting about .285, justin smoak is RBI leader with 103. King Felix is second in strikeouts but way behind yu darvish. I played with dynamic difficulty and the first updated roster. I'm not a huge baseball fan but man is this one beautiful near perfect sports video game IMO.
Only the truest Buffalonians know what it is to stick with your hometown teams. Eventually we will be rewarded with a Super Bowl or Stanley Cup Championship. The ONE thing I want to see most before i leave this world. What a day that would be.

And the injury bug strikes the Cardinals again.

Shelby Miller, who just came off the 15 day DL with an arm problem, made it 3 1/3 innings in his first start off the DL, before encountering another issue. This time a strain on his shoulder. So, Miller is back to the 15-Day DL, Lynn is back in the rotation and Seth Maness is back in the pen.

We are also in the midst of a 3 game losing streak. Just blew a 4-0 lead to the BoSox after losing the last two of the series against the Reds. We still own a 5 1/2 game lead on the Reds and Cubs who have both been struggling for the past 2 weeks.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Just played a 15-inning game against the Angels. Mike Zunino hit a two-run walk-off homerun to win 3-1.

                              We are now 8-1

                              Rangers (5-4) 3GB
                              A's (5-5) 3.5GB
                              Astros (4-6) 4.5GB
                              Angels (3-6) 5GB

                              Hitting leaders:
Despite the small sample sizes, Kyle Seager has hit .353 in 9 games this far. Cano has hit .316 and are the only everyday players. There are no standouts in any other hitting categories.

                              Hitting losers:
Kendrys Morales (.147), Mike Zunino (.156), and Austin Jackson (.179) are all under .200 as everyday players. Not too far behind is Brad Miller (.214) and Dustin Ackley (.219)

                              Others:
                              Chris Denorfia (.280)

Our bullpen has been ELECTRIC, as no one in the bullpen has even given up a run. Although that could be due to Felix pitching two CG's, Felix going 7/8 IP in his two starts, and Paxton going 7 in both his. Elias went 6/7 in his and Chris Young is about to make his second start agains Texas.

We lost Michael Saunders to a abdominal strain, so we called up Endy Chavez to take the 4th OF spot.

Here's the new lineup (for about a week)
                              1. CF Austin Jackson
                              2. LF Dustin Ackley

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

The Mariner finished April 20-7, which is good for 1st in the American League West.

                                Standings:
                                M's: 20-7, -
                                Rangers: 14-14, 6.5GB
                                A's: 14-15, 7GB
                                Angels: 13-14, 7GB
                                Astros: 9-19, 11.5GB

Michael Saunders came off the 15-day DL in mid April and in his first game back, hit a walk off against Oakland. The next week, we played 20-innings against Miami and lost when Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run walk off bomb!

                                Here's stats from everyone who plays everyday in April;
                                Austin Jackson: .239, 3 HRs, 13 RBIs
Michael Saunders (missed 15 days with injury: .321, 3 HRs 9 RBIs
                                Cano: .284, 5 HRs, 18 RBI
                                Morales: .179, 5 HR, 13 RBI
                                Seager: .299, 6 HR, 16 RBI
                                Mike Zunino: .241, 5 HR, 10 RBI
                                Brad Miller: .265, 3 HR, 5RBI

                                Here's guys who platoon:

                                Corey Hart: .258, 2 HR, 6 RBI
                                Logan Morrison: .246, 5 HR, 12 RBI

                                Chris Denorfia: .171, 1 HR, 2 RBI
                                Dustin Ackley: .242, 5HR, 14 RBI

Bench players/Guys who've been sent down:
                                Bloomquist: .286, 0 HR, 2 RBI
                                Quintero: .286, 0 HR, 0 RBO
Endy Chavez (AAA currently): .154, 0 HR, 0 RBI

Obviously, guys who could be DFA'd for a roster spot are Chris Denorfia and POSSIBLY Morales. But he could come back to earth.

                                Pitchers:
All I'll do is post W-L records, Ks, and ERA:

                                Felix: 5-0, 1.38 ERA, 58 Ks (!!!)
                                Kuma: 2-1, 1.31 ERA, 39 Ks
                                Paxton: 5-0, 1.66 ERA, 35 Ks
                                Elias: 1-1, 2.67 ERA, 33 Ks
                                Young: 2-2, 5.54 ERA, 14 Ks

LRP Brandon Maurer: 1.66 ERA, 25 Ks

                                MRP Joe Beimel: 4.82 ERA
                                MRP Charlie Furbush: 1.54 ERA
                                MRP Yoervis Medina: 5.63 ERA
                                MRP Wilhelmsen: 2.25 ERA

                                SU: Farquhar: 4.82 ERA

                                CP: Rodney: 1.13 ERA, 6/6 SV/SVO

Obviously the bullpen has come back down to earth... My top three (Felix, Kuma, Paxton) are all three performing Cy-Young-consideration-well. Elia is holding down the 4 spot and Youmg could be DFA'd if he doesn't pick it up.

                                AAA:
Taijuan Walker, Erasmo Ramiriez, Blake Beavan, and Danny Hultzen could all replace Chris Young. They're all on the 40-man, while the #5 guy, Jordan Pries is holding steady.

In the bullpen, we have Logan Kensing, Lucas Luetge, , Dominic Leone, and Todd Coffey knocking on Seattle's door from Tacoma. They're all on the 40-man.

Offensively, James Jones, Stefen Romero, Chris Taylor, Justin Smoak, Jesus Sucre, Franklin Gutierrez, Emdy Chavez, and Xavier Henry could all potentially earn a call up if guys in Seattle don't perform.
I pretty much just gave away my 40-man roster, lol

In AA, guys like Ketel Marte, Ji-Man Choi, and Patrick Kivelhan are holding down the fort in Jackson offensively. The pitching hasn't been too great, as guys like Andrew Carraway (former top-prospect) and Tyler Pike, Amthony Fernandez, Steve Landazuri, and James Gilheeny have struggled.
In the AA bullpen, Emilio Pagan and Jordan shippers have succeeded while everyone else has struggled.

                                Notable players in A:
                                Alex Jackson
                                DJ Peterson
                                Edwin Diaz
                                Gabe Guerrero
                                Austin Wilson
                                Gareth Morgan
                                Luis Gohara
                                Tyler O'Neil
                                Victor Sanchez

I'll give another update at the end of May!
                                Go M's!
