If his ratings are solid enough, I'd pursue a trade if he's out of options. You might not get all of what he's worth given his struggles so far, but if he's got solid ratings, you probably won't be able to sneak him through waivers. Someone would likely claim him and see if they can't turn him around/keep him in their minors. Also, if his ratings are solid, the promise of his skills is still worth something decent, even if you have to sell low.

If he's out of options and has skills - just in a really bad slump, I'd keep him on the bench and maybe swap bench guys with his replacement (like if I had another bench player that did have an option left and isn't filling a platoon-type role, I might send him down, especially if I have already used his option this season say I sent him down after S.T. but called him up for some reason later, and call up Mercer's potential replacement). I wouldn't release him unless he's declining significantly in actual ratings.

Terribly! He was part of a trade that brought Trevor Plouffe to Cleveland at the 2014 deadline. I will check his 2014 stats after I finish my current game (opening day 2015 against Detroit).

Edit - I ended up having to go out and do something and forgot to save my newly started season... Back to just after the World Series... However, I did remember to look up McAllister for you.

He finished the season 9-9 with a 6.77 ERA. He must have finished the season something like 6-3 with the Twins because he was awful for me.

Fixed. In all seriousness though, sorry to learn about the injury. Sounds like you're having fun with your franchise. And injuries as rarely as they occur for me seem to be season enders. I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll recover

The Yankees are in a nosedive, and the Blue Jays are white-hot, winners of 9 out of their last 11. With the AL East in the balance, can the Yankees hold off the Blue Jays with their thin 1.5 game lead?

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I'm absolutely loving my Yankees franchise. I'm using the ~August 4th MLB Roster Update, so I have the post trade deadline rosters. Since I've started playing the games (August 4th in game) the team is 8-5 (I've played every game.) This includes a five game winning streak, winning series against the Tigers and Indians) a three game losing streak (lost a series to the Orioles but won the finale) and winning two of three against the Rays. Several of these games have been 100% thrilling; a walk-off win with a Bret Gardner run off of a Francisco Cervelli RBI single, several 9th inning saves. The most intense was a game that I trailed 2-0 in the eighth, and Stephen Drew tied it with a two run-homer. In the ninth, I took the 3-2 lead. I just couldn't put my opponent (I forget who) away. They kept getting hits with 2 outs. I finally warmed up and brought in my closer David Robertson (hadn't warmed him up because I thought I'd lose) and he clinched the win with a strikeout.

In the next five games, I've got a great opportunity to make up some ground in the Wild Card and Division races; a three game set against the Astros and a three game series with the White Sox.

                        AL East standings-

Rays- 73-51 (how?! They haven't had Price for the entire season because I'm using post trade deadline rosters. They have the 2nd ranked defense and 13th ranked pitching.)

Second place- Red Sox- 63-61 (4th best power, middle of the pack in everything else. Again, how are they doing so well?!)

Third: Yankees- 63-61 (4th in power, 17th ranked defense, 20th ranked pitching, 17th overall.) 12 games back of Rays

Fourth- Blue Jays 60-65 13.5 games back

Fifth Orioles 59-65 14 games back

                        AL Wild Card-

                        1. Angels 64-60

Tied for second- Red Sox 63-61
                        Tied for second- Athletics 63-61
                        Third- Twins (?!) 61-63 2 games back
Fourth/tied with Twins- Yankees 61-63 2 games back

5th- White Sox- 61-65 three games back
                        6th- Tigers 60-64, 3 games back

So I'm two games behind the 'Sox for second in the division, and two games out of the Wild Card spot.

Zelous Wheeler is on the DL for one week with a pulled hamstring.

A much bigger hit, Jacoby Ellsbury will be on the DL for 31 more days, and probably won't be back in the lineup for 1-2 months, with a torn calf.

I've waived Ichiro Suzuki, Alex Rodriguez, and Brian Roberts.

I moved Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda to the minors to simulate their injuries. I'll be brining Tanaka back late in the month because I don't know when he'll be back IRL.

Brandon McCarthy has done well as a rotational starter. The rest of my current rotation- CC Sabathia, Shane Greene (on the DL for over a month) David Phelps, Ivan Nova, Chris Capuano, and even rookie Juan Baez (has seen some relief action.) Hiroki Kuroda is on the decline at 39 years old but is slotted to start the series opener against the Astros.

As for the bullpen, any one of Dellin Betances, David Huff, Shawn Kelley and Matt Thornton can be called on to keep us in games/pitch reliably. Preston Claiborne and Jim Miller are also options. David Robertson has 31 saves ATM I believe.

Brian McCann is hitting...unreliably. When he's feeling it, he can hit home runs and drive in base runners. When he's not...he's not. Francisco Cervelli is playing well when in the lineup. At times, he's filled in for an oft-injured Mark Teixera at first base and has done well there.

Texiera is a dangerous power hitter, but also strikes out a lot (my fault.) I called up Jose Hernandez to the MLB roster because Tex gets hurt a lot. Hernandez is 24 years old, at 64 overall with A potential. In his one start, he had two hits in three at bats.

Stephen Drew is playing well, and is reliable as a contact hitter and also as a second baseman defensively. Drew is the lone second baseman on the MLB roster with Brian Roberts on the waivers.Martin Prado is doing well at third base; he's a great contact hitter.Chase Headley is also at third base, and is a good player that happens to be on a cold streak.

Brendan Ryan and Derek Jeter at both at shortstop. I just can't hit with Ryan, but he's a good fielder. Jeter isn't the same hitter that he used to be, but still makes some amazing plays defensively. He'll be missed when he retires at season's end. Brett Gardner is one of my favorites, in real life and in the game. MLB The Show doesn't show his power that he seems to have acquired IRL. But Gardner is very fast, a great contact hitter, and a great fielder. His speed lets him track down many flyballs. Jacoby Ellsbury's injury has forced Brendan Ryan to play center fielder as there aren't any valid options in our farm system to replace him right now.Carlos Beltran is a good right fielder with an inconsistent bat.

Man I looked in my farm system for a SS replacement but there is slim pickings. I might play Neil Walker out if position and move him to SS.

I will play out June with Mercer/Walker/Barmes/Harrison. Once July hits I'm going to reassess and make moves if I need to. Only about 20 games to go

That Martin injury hurts so I will probably look for a catcher too. Looks like I might give up some prospects!

Currently 18-11 in my Mariners franchise. Had a 5 game losing streak earlier in the season and in 3 of the 5 games I was shutout. Just came off a 3 game losing streak to the Yankees.

                              Made a few roster moves.
DFA Fernando Rodney he had 5 blown saves in 8 chances.
Called up Carson Smith to be my closer.
Traded for catcher Rob Blantley. Gave up a C rated pitcher.
Made all the real trades for Morales, Jackson, and Denorfia.
                              DFA Michael Saunders
                              Sent Dustin Ackley to AAA.

                              Some stats
Corey Hart hitting .318 10 hrs 22 RBI

                                2015 Marlins Spring Training

Hopefully, spring games aren't much of an indicator because the Marlins had a struggle of a time. The Marlins posted a poor 9-18 record in the Grapefruit League.

Perhaps some solace in that the Mets, who nearly won the division last season, were the worst team in the Grapefruit league at 8-18.

The "new offense" looked like the old offense, scoring just three runs per game on average. Some of the OPS's the team put up were absolutely horrifying. Lombardozzi with a .317, Chris Taylor with a .385. Montero with a .558. Ozuna takes the "top" honors with his .250 OPS. Yes, that's right: .250.

On the plus side, Yelich did quite well, batting .318 with a .500 SLG. Lind also made a good showing, batting .308 with an .837 OPS.

The position battles at 2B and CF will rage on as neither main combatant there did anything to really wow the team. Marisnick will start because it's hard to justify giving the "win" to a .250 OPS, but Marisnick will need to hit well to keep the job. 2B - Solano and Gregorious equally struggled. Solano will get the first crack given his offseason improvement, but Hechavarria will be right there looming. Gregorious might be on his way to AAA as the team likely favors Chris Taylor right now, but that could change not long into the season. Same for Lombardozzi.

Third base will see the debut of Colin Moran, but how long that debut lasts might be up in the air. Hechavarria is looking to prove his out-of-nowhere power (12 HR in 459 AB) is real, and is "1st backup" at the position.

Outfield at the corners is set. Yelich in LF, Stanton in RF. No surprises there. However, Yelich might move to CF which would allow Viciedo to start everyday at LF. Viciedo's struggles against right-handed pitching is well documented, but he might still be the best non-Yelich option at the position, at least until (and if) last year's draftee LF Matt Baldwin arrives at the majors.

Catcher is a mess offensively, but Brantley and Sanchez should provide good or better defense. Brantley in particular has excellent receiving and blocking skill with an arm that's bordering on plus.

On the pitching side of things, Henderson Alvarez didn't earn many points with his performance. He's not been able to recapture his successful contact-and-grounders style from 2012 and 2013 so far. He might be relegated to AAA once again if he doesn't pick it up. The clock ticks loudly on SP in this organization with the young arms waiting for a chance.

Michael Feliz, however, earned some big points with a strong 2.63 ERA performance. It's looking like he's pitched his way onto the back end of the rotation at the minimum.

Rule 5 selection RP Dominic Leone showed some of his potential, but the K's rate was disturbingly low. Still, the team figures to use him heavily in the bullpen. Fellow Rule 5 selection Eddie Butler was equally mixed, though that was less of a surprise.

Behind Fernandez - things are still up in the air. Heaney wasn't too impressive, Conley was very mixed along with Brian Flynn.
