Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Sucking with the O's...in 4th I think in the AL East after 20 games.

I can't hit: 225 team average. I'm sucking up my pride and bumping HUM contact up a tad. I use timing hitting and it's just not giving me real results so far. I miss a good amount of ball in the zone that I time right.

I have Kevin Gausman as my #5. He just threw a 3-hit shutout against Toronto with 10 k's and 3 bb's. He's 2-1 for me with a solid ERA in the 2's.

Hitting wise Chris Davis is a hair under .300 and of all people...Delmon Young is my offensive MVP so far.

Macahdo, Jones, Hardy are big time struggling
Weiters & Marakis are slowly climbing their averages

I'm about to trade Jonathan Schoop as he has been atrocious at the plate and Steve Lombardozzi is pretty solid and could work for a year or so.

My bullpen has been pretty shaky. I signed Ryan Madson and after 3-4 appearances he's out of a job. He went 0-2 with a 13.50 ERA for me and was a complete bum.

I think I'm 8-12 at this point. Not terrible but I run into the issue of games just not having enough offense for both teams.

Swept the Cardinals, cubs win 4-3. Samarzija gave up 3 runs in the first inning he settled down after that finishing the game 6.0, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 R, 7 K. Sweeney had an RBI double and Castro had 3 RBI including an inside the park homerun. I am 9-1 against the Cardinals this season I move to 23-18 next up the Brewers (24-17).

HOLY CRAP WHAT A GAME! I'm in the NLDS with the Marlins, we're taking on the Atlanta Braves and man it is tight. It's 1-1 in the series and it was a pitchers duel in Game 3. Kris Medlan vs Henderson Alvarez. I get 1-0 on a Marcell Ozuna doubel in the 5th, it goes to the top of the 9th. Adeiny Hechavarria reaches on an error by the 3rd baseman, and then Stanton comes up and SMOKES a ball that makes it 3-0.

In the bottom of the 9th bring in Steve Cishek to close it out. Struck out the first better, but then they got 3 SINGLES. No one scored for them, bases loaded with 1 out. I start warming up Carlos Marmol, Cishek gets a strikeout and then I get an intense 8-pitch at bat vs Andrelton Simmons. He hits it up the middle and off the pitcher! Ball finds it's way to Eric Hosmer(traded for him) and races to the bad beating out Simmons. We survive a 3-0 game and take a 2-1 series lead. This game is awesome.

4-3 start with my Tigers, offense slumping a bit now, pitching ok.

Ive given Andrew Romine a chance at Short for the opening week, desperately hoping he would cut it...he isnt, defensively or with the stick so, Stephen Drew, one year deal, $2.5m, signed.

He'll cover until we bring Iglesias back up later in the season.

          Welcome to Detroit Stevie...

I am currently 11-6 with my Dodgers despite a slow start by my offense not names Hanley Ramirez.

Colorado is on fire early at 14-4.

ND, have you tried altering your lineup? Possibly even sitting your 'star' slumpers for a series then bringing them back. I had to sit McCan for a four game series because he wasn't even making contact. Put him back in he started to connect but no bases. A few games later he's getting on track.

Another thing I would try with Schoop is only play him vs poor pitching and against L/R whichever he hits best vs.

              Set them up for success!

              Good luck , bro.

Holy cow... so I lost Game 4 of the NLDS on a walkoff by Jordan Schafer. In Game 5, we went 19 innings. An insane pitchers duel, it got so deep that in the Top of the 19th I had to use my #5 starter who I hadn't touched yet in the postseason in Tommy Koehler, bottom of the 19th though, Stanton on a meatball 1st pitch by Galvin Floyd.... Marlins win 2-1. We advance to the NLCS!

14 hits for the Braves and 12 for me. Really as a pitchers duel, from the 13-18 innings I think they mustered up 1 double and I got 2 singles. A question though for veteran MLB The Show players... how the hell do you sacrifice fly when there are men on base? I'm use to just waiting and clicking L1 and then the runner advancing but for The Show everyone advances when they shouldn't and I get called out at one of the bases such as 1st or 2nd.

I use R2 and then direct with the R stick prior to the pitch. I think it gives slight influence to where you hit. So if you need a grounder towards 1B, I will hit R2+back/right and then swing early/late depending on if I need to pull.

So using forward left, center or right, it would influence getting lift on the ball.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I'm 50 games into my season with the Yankees Franchise, going 35-15. I just lost J.R. Murphy for the season with a torn ACL. With Cervelli on the DL and the trading away of Gary Sanchez, I'm really short on catching depth going forward. Of course with the Yankees and the 200MM+ payroll i'm tapped on finances.

On a side note...does anyone know how i get those ESPN style box score? I'd like to start using those.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well, at 26-35, I decided to finally make some moves on my Astros.

I traded L.J. Hoes and Dallas Keuchel for Rickie Weeks. I'm going to try Weeks at Shortstop. We'll see if he can man the position for a while.

I sent Marwin Gonzalez down to AAA, he was giving me nothing.

That left 2 spots open on my roster. I brought up Tony Sipp for my bullpen and Robbie Grossman to replace Hoes. I placed Jerome Williams on the 15-Day DL and brought up Alex White to man the end of my rotation, since I don't think my other guys are quite ready.

I did some lineup tinkering (had to move Altuve down in my lineup since he's struggling so much, and I had to put Matt Dominguez at the 3-spot since he's KILLING the ball).

Those changes couldn't have worked out better in my first game. We beat the Twins 6-0. Jarred Cosart pitched an absolute GEM, and my guys stroked the ball all over the field.

Cosart went 8 innings giving up only 1 hit and zero runs. Tony Sipp got his first appearance in the 9th inning and shut them down 1-2-3.

Altuve went 2-4 in his new spot. Rickie Weeks went 1-2 with a triple and 2 walks. George Springer tore it up going 2-4 with 4 RBIs (3 of them on a 3-run dinger).

That puts us at 27-35. Weeks didn't get any balls hit to him, so it still remains to be seen if he can man the SS position defensively.

I swept Baltimore and am now 5-4, heading into a four-game series with the Red Sox. My offense has exploded lately (part of that may be due to Baltimore's pitching). Beltran is on fire, as is Ellsbury. The only guy not hitting is Soriano, though he's making good contact. My rotation is dominating at the moment, but my bullpen worries me every time I use them.

Took 2 of 3 from the brewers to move into a tie for first. My last game Wood pitched 8.2 and gave up 1 run and struck out 6. Olt had a 2 run homer and lake added a solo shot. Move on to the Yankees (23-21) who swept me in a 2 game set in April. Arrietta (3-3 3.75) vs phelps (3-3 4.21)

Strops scoreless inning streak to start the season has reached 21 innings.
