    * Allen Craig is playing solidly at 2B. He has shown flashes of brilliance with the glove and is swinging a hot bat thus far (.319 avg, 9 HR, 19 RBI) Late in games he has been pulled for Mark Ellis and his glove.

    * The bullpen is atrocious. Joel Peralta and Dominic Leone have lost a combined 5 games thus far into the season and both are sporting an over 6 ERA. Trevor Rosenthal continues to struggle, as he has an over 8 ERA thus far with just 4 saves.

    * Oscar Taveras has been the right decision for RF. Hitting over .320 and with 5 outfield assists thus far, he is definitely the future of this ballclub.
I'll have a recap for you guys shortly (12 games in on my 2015 Yankees Franchise), but I felt compelled to vent about Gardner too!

After leading us in BA in 2014 (around .290), he absolutely cannot get it together right now early on in season 2. He's well under .200 and just can't seem to get anything done right now.

That said, Countryboy, against righties, look for offspeed middle and down in the zone. My Gardner has 3 blue zones across the bottom half and the CPU loves to exploit that by making me *think* I'm getting a meatball, before watching it drop off the table.

Right now, I'm hitting the mistakes right at people. But season 1 started out slow for him too. Then he just went bonkers. And surprisingly, he hit lefties really well too (around .250+).

Stick with him. I know it's easier said than done. Try going opposite field for a bit or at the very least, back through the box. His speed will get him plenty of hits that most people wouldn't get. A surprise drag bunt to the 3B side could get him going too.

That's how I broke him out of it last year. Hoping to duplicate that myself right now. We need him!

Enough was enough...Gardner asked for his team to step up and give it their all.

Minnesota Twins 2014 Franchise Season: (Doing the Mets and Twins together as franchises now that I downloaded OSFM rosters/love the twins farm system)

Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox:

Game 1: Ricky Nolasco threw 6 innings giving up 4 runs to the White Sox on Opening Day. The Twins certainly tried to rallied getting a solo shot from Kurt Suzuki and Kubel RBI single but Minnesota drops the season & series opener 4-2.

Game 2: Phil Hughes stepped to the mound and dueled Quintana but the White Sox eventually prevailed over the Twins by a score of 5-4. Brian Dozier hit two homers in the game however as a bright spot.

Game 3: Mike Pelfrey excelled where the rest of the rotation could not. He went 5.2 innings striking out 5 and picking up the win as the Twins routed the White Sox for the 7-3 win. John Danks was crushed in the start. Dozier, Arcia, and Plouffe all hit home runs.

        Minnesota Twins @ Cleveland Indians:

Game 4: Kevin Correia had a perfect game through six but Dozier committed an error on a grounder and then Brantley picked up the Tribe's first hit of the game. Regardless as the bullpen came in for the 8th and the 9th as Correia (1-0) picked up the win and Perkins the save (1). Oswaldo Arcia came a double short of the cycle, went 4-4, and scored the only 2 runs for the Twins. Minnesota downed Cleveland 2-1.

          Minnesota Twins 2014 Franchise Season:

Minnesota Twins @ Cleveland Indians: (cont.)

Game 5: (Player Lock as SP Deduno) Samuel Deduno went to the mound and kept the Twins in it through 5. He struck out 8 and allowed 3 runs, two of them home runs. The Indians eventually would go on to win it though 3-0 as the Twins were limited to just 4 hits. Theilbar was solid in 3 innings of relief.

Game 6: (Simmed through) Ricky Nolasco still hasn't found his happy zone as he was pulled after 2.1 innings giving up 8 runs to the Tribe. The Twins recouped 2 of those but still fell 8-2. Swarzak and Theilbar were A+ in long relief from the pen.

That nightmare of a road trip is over for the Twins as they finished it up with a 2-4 record to start the year.

          Pros:

Oswaldo Arcia is likely only a game or two away before fans accuse him of juicing. He's batting .441 and already has 2 homers on the year and has been a defensive lock in RF.

Twins Bullpen-they've done the job they've been called upon to do so far through the first 6 games and have only given up 1 run. Great considering they've pitched around 23.1 already.

          Cons:

Mauer & Willingham...the heart of the order has not produced yet and have relied on the bottom bats and Santana and Dozier up top to provide the offense..which is not fully their job and probably won't last.

Top half of the rotation- Nolasco has been a nightmare in his first two starts and now has an inflated ERA above 12.00. Phil Hughes had a slightly better time in his first start but still got tagged for 5 runs. He gets to try and turn this con into a pro as he gets the ball for Opening Night at Target Field against the A's.

Next series begins the 9 game home stand as the Twins and the great state of Minnesota play host to the Oakland Athletics in all their money ball glory. The AL Central looks like this:

          Kansas City Royals 4-2 -
          Chicago White Sox 4-2 -
          Cleveland Indians 3-3 1.0
          Minnesota Twins 2-4 2.0
          Detroit Tigers 1-5 3.0

Misc. Deduno is in 4th place in the AL on the K list after striking out 8 batters in his first start.

Arcia is in the top 5 in the AL batting race right now

It's a new month, and a new beginning for the Yankees according to their leader Brett Gardner. It's almost apropos that their new beginning is against their rival. Yankees. RedSox. Right Now.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I was at 34-35 with Pittsburgh heading into a big series with the division leading Cincinnati Reds (40-28). It was my chance to make up some ground and I was hosting them for a 3-game series at PNC. The home crowd was pumped, I was pumped, and we were ready to chip away at the lead!

              Recent roster moves & transactions:

#1 - C Russell Martin on 60-day DL, out for season with MCL tear. I posted the picture earlier and most of you know that he was injured and I was looking to potentially find a replacement via trade.

#2 - TRADE with Houston Astros
PIT sends 19 yr old Mid B POT SP Luis Heredia & 19 yr old Low B POT C Reese McGuire
HOU sends 26 yr old B POT C Jason Castro
Houston was 23-46 (worst in MLB) and they pick up a power RHP in Heredia and a very good catching prospect in McGuire. There aren't many solid catching prospects out there and it was tough to give up McGuire for me. He projected to be my future starter in 2-3 years. Houston further bolsters their farm system, gears up for yet another #1 pick, and gets value for a player who would've demanded a bigger contract next year. This move by Pittsburgh shows that they are in a "win now" mode and are willing to make moves.

#3 - #2 SP Francisco Liriano to DL | #4 SP Jeff Locke demoted to AAA
Liriano is having some arm tightness and is being given a rest so he's on the 15-day DL. He's been super inconsistent this season and we called up SP Brandon Cumpton to take his place. Locked was given every chance to show he belonged in the rotation but he failed. He then throws a CG SHO in his first AAA start. Go figure. His MLB ERA was around 6 and needed to be sent down. SP Vance Worley took his spot and now Cumpton/Worley will battle for Locke's spot because Liriano will get his spot back when he returns from the DL.

#4 - SS Jordy Mercer loses starting spot to SS Clint Barmes
Mercer has been terrible and it was a no brainer to make Barmes the starter. Barmes is hitting close to .300 with 3 HR's and Mercer had ZERO HR's and an average near the Mendoza line.

              ___________

              Series with CIN

Game #1 - Edison Volquez gives great effort but he falls apart in the 7th giving up a few runs and the Pirates fall behind 4-2. We can't recover and the Reds take game 1. Chapman dominates in the 9th and is ridiculous to hit off.

Game #2 - G. Cole throws 6 sharp innings with his only mistake being a 2-run HR given up to Joey Votto in the 5th. Cole goes 6 strong with 9 K's and leaves with the game tied 2-2. Justin Wilson comes in the 7th and gives up a quick run. Pirates offense stalls and Chapman shuts the door again, Reds win 3-2.

Game #3 - This game is about big hits early and often. It's back and forth until the Pirates put together a rally and go ahead 6-3 into the 8th inning. In comes Tony Watson who gets two quick outs and it's 6-3 Pittsburgh with two outs & nobody on. Ernesto Frieri comes in and quickly gives up 3 hits and 2 walks and the Reds go on to score 4 runs in the inning taking a 7-6 lead. The Pirates get the bases loaded with NOBODY out. Travis Snider proceeds to work the count full and then hit a two foot chopper that is turned into a 2-3 DP. Starling Marte then lines out to deep center field. Rally over, hope over. Chapman shuts the door time #3, Reds sweep. Pirates cry

Ernesto Frieri DFA'd after his terrible outing. I'm fed up with that guy which shows how true-to-life the game can be! Ratings are awesome, production is garbage!

Pirates (34-38) are now 2-10 against Cincinnati (43-28) on the season and their offense is just brutal to face. Billy Hamilton/Brandon Phillips/Joey Votto are all over .300 and top 7 in the NL in batting. Jay Bruce comes behind them with the power. Cosart and Frazier also kill me and there's nowhere to breath in that lineup because you think Mesaraco sucks until he laces a double off you. I hate facing these guys.

Next series: @ Wrigly Field and the terrible Cubbies. I need to dominate that series!

Oh I'm not giving up on him. Its early May, so he has plenty of time to get it together. He is awesome in CF (although he had 4 errors in the series vs Pittsburgh )

He is amazing once he's on base and I do believe that eventually his bat will turn around. But if for some reason it doesn't work out, I have plenty of talent in Memphis and Springfield just itching to get to the Show.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

The other 4 teams in the central never had a chance. After starting the the year 36-14 through 50 games. We went 70-42 to finish the year and take the central by 27 games. Non of the other 4 teams finished with more than 79 wins, and we cliched our 3rd straight playoff birth in the first week of September.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Decided to take a break from my Red Sox 'chise because it was going a bit too well. Thought a fantasy draft with the Astros might be interesting, here are the results of the draft:

The lineup will probably be as follows:
                    1. CF - Juan Pierre
                    2. DH - J.B Shuck
                    3. LF - Melky Cabrera
                    4. 1B - Jose Abreu
                    5. RF - Bryce Harper
                    6. C- Wilson Ramos
                    7. 3B - Todd Frazier
                    8. 2B - Marco Scutaro
                    9. SS - Addison Russell

That's vs RHP, vs LHP Mayberry Jr will replace Pierre and the batting order will change slightly, but nothing too drastic.

Bench Players include catcher Gerald Laird, Second baseman Elliot Johnson, Third Baseman Casey McGehee and Pierre/Mayberry Jr depending on the opposing pitcher.

                    Pitching Rotation

                    1. Yu Darvish RHP
                    2. Mat Latos RHP
                    3. Homer Bailey RHP
                    4. Jose Quintana LHP
                    5. Erik Bedard LHP

                    Bullpen:
                    LRP - Raul Valdes LHP
                    MRP - Sean Doolittle LHP
                    MRP - Luis Ayala RHP
                    MRP - Louis Coleman RHP
                    SU - Chris Perez RHP
                    SU - Randy Choate LHP
                    CP - Francisco Rodriguez RHP

Plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the 2014 Astros, hopefully I'll stick with this 'Chise for a while, will keep you guys updated.

Pitching for both sides has been great so far. The first 3 1/2 innings in this one were perfect.

Bottom of the 4th we gave up a lead off double to Pederson. Got Guerrero to ground out but Pederson advanced to 3rd. Puig then grounded out scoring Pederson to take a 1-0 lead.

Top of the 6th still 1 -0. Aoki walks to lead off. Cain grounded out on a hit and run to get Aoki to 2nd. Perez got a single up the middle to score Aoki on a close play at the plate and we tie it up 1-1. Now here is where i get ****ed. Top 7th. Infante hits a 1 out double. Next batter Escobar hits a blooper to center. I can tell it going to fall as soon as its hit. But the game like it does so many times. Doesnt give me control of the Infante at 2nd and it makes him wait for it to fall. So all i get is 3rd and end up hitting into a double play.

Bottom 7th, Puig gets a lead off single. Next batter is Gonzalez. The game sets its **** for him as always. Im fine with it as it works most of the time. Dodgers put on a hit and run. The game decides that Omar infante in shallow right should be the one to cover 2nd. So he runs and the ball is hit right to where he had been for s single. Puig ends up on 3rd. Ramirez hits a sac fly to give them the 2-1 lead.

Top 8. Cain leads off with a single. He steals 2nd. Hosmer lines out and Cain cant advance. A little pissed at that point i steal 3rd and it works. Perez proceeds to strike out and then moose grounds out.

From there we never get another runner and lose 2-1.

We now head home for 3 games hopefully. We are 3-1 there in the playoffs. And have scored 32 runs in those games.

Way to go on making the WS, I bet it must've felt great to get those last outs in the clinching games. Time to get out of that 0-2 hole now.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

We are closing in on the first Month of baseball in our 2 player Fantasy Draft Franchise. With the first week being too much too handle we adjusted some sliders and have been having fun. Ready to make them a little harder now that we have things figured out a little better.

I own the Seattle Mariners franchise. We have an awesome core. It's a young group. On paper it looks nice but We will be tested as the season moves forward. Hopefully it pans out. My focus was to get a Defensive infield with a young staff. My OFs have been with me since MLB 2012. My #1 pick in Fantasy Draft is the man JAY BRUCE. Omg people want to line up to tell me a better one but look wht it allowed me to do. Still have a few moves left to make if need be. Here's the team to bring 100 win seasons back to Seattle.

                          Starting Pitching:

#6 Danny Hultzen (has gotten lots of work)

                          LR Carlos Martinez

                          Su Kelvin Herrera
                          CL Francisco Rodriguez

A few notes on my team:

Jay Bruce is the MVP and he's playing like it. So I'm gonna hit him 3rd and give home every chance to be MVP.

My OF shuffles the DH to keep all 4 in the lineup as much as possible.

Kolten Wong plays ab half the games. Gyorko has to play 3B when Machado needs a puff.

Singleton and Viciedo are hitting .300 against oppo pitchers. The split is working. They both play great tho. Whoever is playing more is the favorite.

Been logging lots of innings lately with the starters and I was trying to work out the kink in the rotation. Maybe after my off day the rotation will be back to norm. But this has caused hultzen to get 2+ starts. I likey.

Down on the Farm : Miguel Sano is hitting 230 w/ 7+ homers in Triple A. I love me some Garin Cechini. Can't wait to call him up. Mark Appel and Kyle Zimmer. Delino Deshields Jr. Mikel Franco.

Now to the City of Brotherly Love. Your 2014 Philidelphia Phillies !!

This is my cousins team. All of his players he selected in March and IRL they would be amazing to have this year. Kudos to him. He struggles a little with hitting. Who doesn't ? But he just got a new lineup and I think it's a keeper. He hit Starlin Castro in the 9 hole and he just kept hitting so now after 1 month of play he's hitting #1. Better not start taking plays off again lol.

It's a day to day Rotation. Whatever the best matchup is for the current schedule.

Speed is readily available on this team figuring out stealing mechanics more more each game. Steals are coming in now. Trout , Altuve , couple Sneaky steals with Puig.

                          Smoak smokes the ball.

Olt is always a huge lift off the bench. Ready to play everyday.

Martin Perez is # 5 or 6 pitcher but they are both lefties so he's bumped up to the 4 spot and is been great.

LEAST amout of SO in the league for the Offense. Mariners have a lot lol.

Have not played many home games.
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

Just played in arguably my craziest game ever. I'm the Dodgers and I'm facing the Giants in the second series of the young season. Ryu is on the mound for me while the Giants put Cain on the bump to try and avoid the sweep.

After a leadoff walk Dee Gordon swipes second and Adrian Gonzalez singles him home with 2 outs. 1-0 Dodgers after 1.

In the 3rd the Giants strike back, after a 2 out RBI double by Buster Posey to tie it Mike Morse hits a towering shot to left to give the Giants a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the 4th Hanley Ramirez gets into one and sends a shot into the left field bleachers to cut the Giants lead to 3-2.

Giants get a run in the 5th and 6th to increase their lead to 5-2 and after another 2 out RBI single by Adrian Gonzalez in the 8th the Dodgers inch closer and make it 5-3.

Onto the 9th where things get crazy. Andre Ethier and Juan Uribe both walk after working 3-2 counts to leadoff the inning. A.J. Ellis then blasts one to left but it hits high off the wall scoring Ethier while Uribe stays at 3rd and Ellis winds up at second. Chone Figgins comes off the bench to pinch-hit and he gets a hold of one and sends it high and deep to right but it hooks just foul and the Giants are still alive. But only for one more pitch as Figgins rips a 3-2 slider up the middle scoring Uribe, Ellis being waved around...the throw....SAFE AT THE PLATE DODGERS WIN!! WHAT A GAME!!

Dodgers improve to 6-2 in the early going while the Giants fall to an ugly 1-6 record

Just dropped 2/3 at Wrigley. Now sitting at 35-40 with the Pirates. If I don't go on a run soon where I'm consistently north of .500 I'm about so start selling. I was outscored 10-9 in the series. My offense really let my pitchers down.

Game 3 I started off with a 3-run HR by Alvarez in the 1st and then proceed to lose 4-3.

*Alvarez is putting up MVP #'s: .298 - 19 HR - 60 RBI (Leads NL in HR & RBI)

Super super depressing to lose to the Cubs! Heck Vance Worley threw a gem and wore the L. He K'd 12 in 6 innings and gave up 2 runs.

                                I'm stunned really.
