I seem to remember that in an earlier version of the game you used to be able to switch the CPU comeback on/off.

Played every show and I don' recall there ever being this option

Giving certain players a boost in ratings in certain situations is exactly that . . . a code to attempt to make games closer.

There is a difference in that when a game is scripted, situations are forced. That's what a game being scripted means... and rating boost doesn't really force any situation. That may make certain outcomes more likely to happen, but it's still not forced.

The specific mechanism is no longer in place in the game, anyways.

But bringing in an inferior reliever is effectively similar to giving hitters a small advantage. It looks all mysterious only because the difference isn't really visible to the gamer.

That's my entire argument though (if you did indeed read my previous posts, if not I apologize). I don't think outcomes are scripted. I don't think results are scripted. I think players and situations are affected that boost the potential for an outcome to occur.

Everyone has an agenda, my friend. I'm not calling anyone anything. I'm saying everyone on this planet has an agenda of some sort. I don't take anything at face value, especially when someone can and does benefit from it.

It was a couple years ago.

There was no comeback code option in MLB 12 The Show.. or 11.. or 10.. or 9..

Can someone correct me in case I happened to miss this option in the menus ?

I don't believe I said there was.

I just know it was somewhat recently.

It was in MLB The Show '09 and dropped in '10, I believe.

If you're talking about what's my agenda at OS:

- To assist in the betterment of the best baseball game ever created.

I'd say the first step in doing that is trusting the people who develop the game.

If they say there isn't a comeback script written in the code, then there isn't and like it's been said pages ago in this thread, until someone proves that wrong, the developers' words are official.

Calling it a comeback code option is a stretch though. I think it gave a 3 point ratings boost when the player was up by 3 or more.

The option could be toggled off. And even with it on, the ratings boost could easily be overcome with sound strategy.

Don't quote me on the year and coding of it. This was a LONG time ago.

Of course, that didn't stop people from claiming the option was broken and always turned on regardless of the setting (I remember that ALL too well...). Probably why they got rid of the option the following year.

Agree. This is an extreme rarity on OS - a discussion of this topic that has remained mostly civil. I'm pretty sure that's why the mods are letting it go (and even participating in the discussion).
