Have you messed with the AI's pitching sliders? I think they have it tuned like that intentionally (especially on lower difficulties) to allow for a slightly faster pace: more strikes = more pitches to swing at.

I roll like this for the CPU:

    Control: 1
    Consistency: 5
    Strike Frequency: 3

and I generally get really nice strike/ball ratios.

Re: Things you want fixed in a patch.

I want to be able to have a freekin online fantasy draft with my friends and have the actual players we draft show up. Hard to understand how such a simple concept can be so fumbled. I know others are having this problem as well, and this is a HUGE deal. I mean c'mon. I hate that some of the lighting is messed up too.....but at least the game is playable that way. I'm missing the whole team I drafted. We can't even field the team!

There's almost no room for a "opps, no don't swing!" check swing, but there is plenty of room for a "nah" check swing, if that makes sense.

edit: Also, I think it absolutely depends on the hitter, too. Like a guy who's 0 for his last 21 is going to have a much more difficult time checking his swing than a guy who's red hot. Like sometimes I'll try to check my swing - the hot guy will just get a hit outright anyway, the cold guy will pop up to the catcher, that kind of thing. Or the hot guys will check their swing on their own when I actually tried to swing at a bad pitch, whereas just barely tapping the button (to a point I wouldn't necessarily even expect a check swing) with the cold guy and he's flailing away. I suspect there's something similar going on related to pitcher confidence too, where it's literally harder to check your swing against a confident pitcher than a rattled one.
I guess you missed where he said it was evident on replays: "I even check the instant replay and it's clear as day."

And I concur with what he said.

Hmm interesting, I've never messed around with the sliders as I feel like I'm cheating in a sense, but I might give this a try. It's really aggravating so I'll take your word for this and try it out. Thanks!

I've noticed when pitching, as well as baserunning, when the pitcher is at bat in a clear sacrifice situation, he'll stand there and take every pitch.

I.E. man on 1st or 2nd, no outs, clear sacrifice situation, the AI will take 3 down the middle. In non sacrifice situations the AI pitcher will bat normally.

                  Stadium Lighting Devils Advocate

I really hear and understand the wide range of issue had with the less than desired stadium lighting in some of these ballparks at night. Granted I haven't physically been at the ballpark in a while, after all I live in Houston so it's been over a year. However, I'm watching Wrigley on a non HD, digital def. tv at the moment at the "lighting" in the outfield crowds is laughable. It literally looks like they are sitting in the darkest mlb ballpark in the world like sitting in a dimly light alley trying to watch a game. So this is where my perspective comes into play.

My concern is this. With that said above, is this issue mostly about a point of view thing. I have two reasons to say this, one being that perhaps the game is capturing a viewpoint from behind the plate that exposes shadowy looking stands and patrons in the outfield in certain areas. Perhaps your view if the camera was in CF looking into the crowd would capture that outfield differently. Maybe the game's lighting is capturing that reality but just not doing so perfectly.

My 2nd concern is much larger and I believe even more relevant. Screenshot captures lifted by the PS4 system do not represent the game we are playing and watching on our tv in person. This is not captured like a screenshot image is on our computers including our display settings to a large degree (I could be wrong). Anyhow, my overriding point of view is I have been in a couple of stadiums into the night, including Busch and I don't feel nearly the same level of disappointed that I did with those famous screenshots. So much so, that I forgot this was even the stadium that drew so much ire from pre-release. The view I had of these stadiums at night on my tv was very satisfying and we all set up the best looking display we can for our games. That display, however, is never going to be reflected in the screenshots we lift from our PS4 systems because those inputs are entirely separate.

I had one where it bounced back to the pitcher who threw out my guy going to 2nd. as soon as it got past the catcher and hit the fence i sent my runner but the ball lost no speed straight back to the pitcher.

I believe the number of chased pitches are a bit too high now after the change to discipline but others probably disagree.

Well, the patch did NOT fix the umpires' strike zone. When set to call a perfect strike zone, they still makes mistakes, calling strikes balls and vice versa. Very frustrating to those that want a cleanly called game.

mostly cosmetic, but the frame rate could be better if fixable:
                            - glitchy, flickering grass blades on batter cutscenes (flickers white)
                            - glitchy hair of females in the crowd; glitchy hats on some of the people in the crowd (seems more prevalent after this recent update); this is while pitching in broadcast / BTP view, but not present in cutscenes
                            * the game is too beautiful otherwise to have to be distracted by the above

                            - removal of the circle under the player with the ball (at least when using auto fielding)
                            - removal of the baseball diamond showing the runners on base (at least when using auto baserunning)
                            * this will add to the realism for those who like to play in a "true broadcast"
                            way

...when i think about it, the above seems petty in the grand scheme of things, but who knows, maybe 1 or 2 can get fixed

really, hmm...maybe it only happens when i take control over them after a play is over or something. i'll have to experiment more...thanks for the comment.
