Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

To all of you with a SS career, what does your numbers look like in the Putouts/Assists department? I'm mainly interested in the proportions of those numbers.

My Cardinals SS look like this:
    G 17
    PO 7
    A 34

I'm thinking that the putout numbers are a bit low. When I was playing in AA the proportions were the same (i.e 14 PO / 64 A or 28 PO / 128 A etc). I won't win Golden Glove with those numbers. However, if I sim a game the putout numbers are higher (like 4 A / 4 PO).

What am I doing wrong? If it's a double play and the ball rolls right at me I can't run to second base because then I will run in to the second baseman, no matter how close I am to the bag. The only time I can step on the bag is if the ball rolls between first and second base and I'm already standing on the bag.

An odd question perhaps but I'm really curious.

Just broke the single season steals record. I've been putting up lead off hitter numbers batting 3rd. I tried spending my training points in areas where I thought it'd keep me up there. It didn't last long. I finished the season hitting .318 with 11 home runs & 63 RBI. I'm not sure how many walks I had or what my OBP was. It's be nice if they had a setting when you start playing that let's you pick the type of hitter you want to be.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I did a search but couldn't find much.

I've gotten called up WAY too early. I am a power hitting 1B and got drafted top ten by the twins. I did great in AA but then started trending down in AAA. Somehow I still got called up in August and started most games after that. They traded away Joe Mauer so even at 66 I was the top 1B in the org.

After a few games of my 2nd season, I requested a trade so I'd be somewhere with a better 1B so I could spend more time in the minors to develop. They traded me to AZ and to my surprise, at a 71 ovr I've been starting over Goldschmidt. Makes no sense. No matter how poorly I perform, I still start. It's taking away from the realism for me. What can I do?

MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

I started a fresh RTTS for MLB 15 making a 19 yo RF based off of Bryce Harper.
I did pretty good in the showcase, my potential went to a B and I was predicted to be drafted in the middle of the first. That I was, I was selected 18th, at least I think it was 18th but it was around there, by the Blue Jays. I decided to go to a 2 year university instead of sign. I came back and had a good showing at the showcase increasing my potential to an A. I was predicted to go early in the first and I was selected first overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
At my time in AA ball I did pretty good, hitting .305 with an OBP in the .380s. After a month and a half I got promoted to AAA. I only played there for maybe 3 or 4 weeks, but I started finding my power and was hitting in the .340s with around 6 HRs in that span. I was then called up to the majors where I will be the everyday starter in Right. In my fist at bat I came in to pinch hit and grounded out. In my first official start I went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, I'm having a ton of fun and I'm really going to shoot for rookie of the year

Made a new 18 Year Old SS. I was drafted 3rd overall by the Rangers. I only played 8 games in AA and I had 2 Homeruns and 9 RBI's and I was called up to AAA for injury replacement. I had 8 Homeruns and 39 RBI's before I was called up to MLB Texas in early June for another injury replacement. I've been in the Majors for about 2 weeks now, I have 1 HR (at CWS) and 5 RBI's. I'm a bench player so I don't play everyday.
Funny thing is, despite being a SS i haven't played SS since AA. I played 3B in AAA and I've played 1B mostly in the Majors with a couple starts at 3B

what's the best way to hit HRs? directional? zone? power swing only? i'm batting .300 with my LF, I have 80+ power going both ways but I can't seem to hit dingers. I get a lot of doubles and even triples but I can't seem to get anything past the warning track on fly balls.

maybe it's the batting stance? i'm using McCutchen, maybe I need to change? oh, also, what's the best spot in the outfield for robbing HR's? I'm with the D'Backs and I don't think you can really get any from CF so I switched to RF. I seem to have a few chances every once in a while, would I get more if I switched to another position? another team?

I use directional, Tulowitski for stance, power swing (almost exclusively) and I'm hitting homers like it's going out of style. I can get no doubters with regular swing too but the timing and pitch placement has to be perfect. Oh, and I always guess fastball, but many of my homers are born from badly placed sliders, changeups etc. Here's a screen from the best game I ever played. A lot of luck was involved but I'm doing something right.

I hit my first ever walk-off homer against White Sox tonight. A two run dinger in the bottom of the 10th. What a feeling! First pitch power swing to straight-away center field and it looked like it was going to bounce of a wall or something. I was running like a crazy person when Matt V yelled "BALL GAME!". Too bad it was with my Tigers SS and not the Cardinals one, but I'll take it

So struggled with my SS to start 2016 got sent down to AAA. got hurt for 2 1/2 months. Finished the AAA Season with 10 HR's 50 RBI's and a .333 Avg. Got called up to MLB Texas to finish year. Couple RBI's. 2017 season in Majors so far? .311 Avg through 90 AB's (bout 7 walks in there so maybe 97) 0 HR's and 4 RBI's batting 4th and 5th! It's entirely frustrating. I'm peppering outfield gloves on the warning track. Hitting the wall. But no homers. I hit 7 in my rookie year so wtf? My power is 70. And I can't by a hit with runners in scoring position. No one on? Double and triple central. Somebody on 2nd or 3rd? Nah forget it. Not to mention that most every good timing, even those in a good spot to hit, just get fouled off

I just finished the 2016 season, won the World Series with the Cubs. I changed up the settings & sliders a little bit. I'm trying to become more patient at the plate. Started using zone hitting. I love it. I actually have power! I've hit three home runs in my first 4 spring training games after hitting 13 in two seasons. I don't use the power swing often. I usually just use the normal swing. Unless I'm trying to just make contact for a sac fly or RBI ground out.

Played 2 games with my pitcher for the Yankees. At Tampa I went 7.2 IP (W) 3 ER 5 H 15 SO. was going better til I gave up a 2 run HR on a change up barely clipping the bottom of the zone that the batter was late on anyways.
Next start at Washinton was good and bad. Struck out 15 in 7 IP. at one point I had struck out 8 straight and 10 of 11. Until I gave up a HR on a fastball below the zones that he was late on. Lost only giving up 1 run.
I have my HR/9 up to 94 and these arent poor location so idk

I was a timing guy for a long time and just now recently started using zone and I am seeing better results. I've hit more HR and have made a lot more solid contact. If you do use zone you want to start building up your Vision so you have a bigger reticle, thus giving you more of a chance to get more contact.

Doing a closing pitcher last year was my first year I went 34/37 on saves and had an ERA of about 1.00 for the Blue Jays double-A affiliate. I'm still in double-A to start the 2016 season. So far I've gotta to pitch only 4 time in the 2016 season and I'm 4/4 on saves and given up 1 run in 4 IP.
