Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

Created a 20 year Old contact/fielding oriented 2B(LF secondary) and so far it's been one trial after another. First off I slide in the draft, go late in the second round to Baltimore who just so happen to have a pretty darn good young 2B in Jonathan Schoop. Then two games in at AA I get hurt, sprained knee, out until May 1. Now healthy I get relegated to bench/utility guy. It's now May 24th, here's my numbers

    G: 13
    AB: 51
    H: 17
    R: 11
    2B: 6
    3B: 1
    HR: 4
    RBI: 16
    SB: 3
    BB: 5
    SO: 7
    Triple Slash .333/.404/.725
    OPS: 1.129

Using Dynamic Difficulty it's settled at All-Star+++
Hopefully I get back in the starting lineup soon!

Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

So with 12 games left in Triple A I was looking forward to the end of the year so I could start the next season already and take on the majors. The Oakland A's thought it was a good time to call me up. I was spitting chips, cause I don't know the rules in regards to rookie of the year awards and whether I'll be in contention for it next year. Cause Joe Cornett wants those individual accolades.

Anyway this is the finish to Cornett's debut.

Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

I thought I understood the ways of baseball but there seems to be some things that I have yet to learn. This is most likely a very basic thing but I have to ask.

My power hitting SS who plays for the Springfield Cardinals that I mentioned a couple of posts above is now a designated hitter. Is that good or bad? I checked the lineup and if it's a game without a DH I get to play as SS. The earliest save I have where I still get to play as SS is Apr 19. After that (a week or so) it's all DH. Is it because the other SS is better than me or because we're playing against a DH team?

Whenever I get to field the ball is when it's a double play or a simple ground ball and I do pretty good. Great/good reaction and good throwing decisions. It's kind of hard to mess up and that's why I don't understand.

It's OK, for now. Here's the deal you're getting AB's and that's' always good, but the National League doesn't feature the DH(thank goodness) so you're going to have to play the field in order to get called up. My thinking is you have a great glove, weak stick SS as a teammate? If so just continue to build up your fielding stats(along with the others) and you'll eventually overtake the incumbent.

Thank you very much for your reply! The thing is, he does pretty good AB.
              Here's his stats:
              Pete Kozma SS
              Age: 26
              OVR: 65 C
              MLB Service: 1.108
              G: 8
              AB: 27
              HR: 1
              RBI: 5
              AVG: 519
              Fielding: 59

              My guy:
              Age: 19
              OVR: 66 A (+15 adj.)
              G: 13
              AB: 54
              HR: 12
              RBI: 39
AVG: 722 (on Veteran+ It's like the game just gives me the perfect pitches all the time)
              Fielding: 60 (+29 w. equipment)

He has better stats on the field though.
              A: 19
              PO: 12
              E: 0
              Mine are:
              A: 25
              PO: 5
              E: 1
I have missed out on at least two stolen base attempts because I didn't understand what was going on...

Also, I checked the lineups again and I'm only the DH when it's VS RHP DH. I was dead certain it was VS LHP DH too.

Again, thank you for helping me understand this. I really believed I started to understand how it all works but apparently that's not the case. Do you think I should start over from Apr 19 (I'm at Apr 24) and try and do better with my fielding ops or should I wait for my time to shine on the field? If I start over I lose two HRs, two stolen bases and a triple.

Is there a known adjustment/fix/workaround for your teammates striking out so much while you're on base? Seems to happen 66% of the time.

This game sometimes. I created an speedy 3B with Moderate power. I get drafted in the first round by Houston. I spent 3 1/2 months in AA where make the all star game and lead the league in Hits, BA, R, RBI, SB and 3B and sit at 3rd in HR. I get the call to join the big boys in Houston. Here I am an 18 year old starting at 3B in the majors. I hit .228 with 6 hr and 36 rbi with 22 SB in the last 2 months of the season.

2016 rolls around and I feel like Houston is messing with my career. Through the end of June I had started 11 games, I was mostly a pinch hitter. I ask for a trade and get moved to Tampa Bay where the same thing continues to happen. 19 year old budding superstar, and Ive gotten 128 at bats through the first week of September and now my stats are falling faster than I can get the points to stop it. Hopefully something gives this offseason.

That's rough. If it makes you feel any better, my manager/GM logic isn't doing my team any favors right now, either. Leading up to the deadline, they traded for Lorenzo Cain -- they did this three times, one because I lost power and it didn't save, and two more because I reset it once myself. Each time on the day of the deadline, they moved Cain for Vidal Nunez (Nuno? Somethin'). Two things are wrong with this.

One, they did this all three times we got Cain. No workaround now that we can't manually injure players -- Cain was fated to be traded for and swapped out almost immediately, a pawn in the greater scheme of baseball dealings. While I'm willing to swallow that nonsense, they traded him within the division to the Mariners. Ugh. Not like we're chasing them in the standings, Billy Beane!

Two, they got a SP that was immediately put in the bullpen because of his overall attributes. His stats are phenominal compared to what is getting sent out every 4th and 5th day -- Parker and I think Jesse Hahn are pitching to the tune of a ~4.00 ERA, while Nunez-Nuno has got a relatively low 2.5-ish ERA. Only they're ranked 81 and 80, and he's a measly 76.

Why trade an everyday position player for a dude you're only going to use in the bullpen? Why not package those two 80 SP scrubs with Cain into a better deal and get us a SP worth having? Sonny Gray is hurt with a forearm strain or flesh eating bacteria or something, and if he comes back at all, it'll be just in time for the playoffs we're on the verge of missing out on. Any help in the rotation would've been appreciated. Heck, I would've loved to have gotten bullpen help not in the form of a second long-reliever, but a capable closer to replace the 5.43 ERA-having, every-save-blowing, chews-with-his-mouth-open Tyler Clippard. No such luck.

I guess the moral of the story is hang in there, keep requesting trades the more they sit you, and hope you land on a team that isn't bass ackwards in their development strategies. Maybe sim two+ months -- skip training, maybe piss the AI off so they want to get rid of you.

My SS Oil Can is totally on fire right now! While he has not so hot at bats with nobody on base, he is killing it when we're under a couple of runs and there are enough players on base to tie the game or even win. I love the adrenaline rush when you really have to perform.
One game in the 8th inning we're down 2-4 with one out, players on first and second, Oil Can hammers a ball that seems to have a chance to clear the wall but bounces off it. The runners takes off and score and I got a two run triple. The next batter comes up and launch a fly ball medium deep but I'm able to tag up and score what turned out to be the winning run.

I have a feeling his bat will turn cold soon though... As it always does when performing great for a long time.

It's May now and I'm still the DH but I have simmed ahead and all signs show Oil Can will join the game as a regular SS. I will do my absolute best to outshine Pete Kozma. I didn't realize Kozma used to be a regular in the Majors until I checked him out on the web. Is he in the AA for rehab reasons perhaps? But don't they usually do that in AAA? Whatever the case, I hope I will perform better than him so that I perhaps will be called up to AAA.

After going to Tampa Bay I ask to change position, 3b wasn't going to work for me with Longoria there, I moved to SS and took the starting job there before ending the year on a high note. Here are my stats entering my age 20 season.

I used the team statistics table on here.

                            http://dynasties.operationsports.com/index.php

I just used the year instead of player names on the table.

I just used the year instead of player names on the table.
Ahh ok. I'd seen that before but never considered doing it that way. I actually put in a request in the OS Forum thread for somebody to make a table for career MLB stats but it went ignored.

I'd love to be able to use custom columns so I could add in OPS, OPS+, wOBA, WAR in addition to the normal stats.

                                Try this
                                http://www.html-tables.com/

Its a bit more simple than the OS tables, but you can make custom headers for it.
