Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

So there I am, a rookie pitcher at home in mid-September against a division rival in the midst of a battle with them for a wild card spot. There are two outs in the 7th inning and Robinson Cano steps up to the plate. It is only then that I realize that nobody has been on base yet. After a 9 pitch at bat, I finally strike out Cano to go perfect through 7. My offense provides me with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to put us up 4-0. That's more than enough with the way I'm pitching in the Texas heat on this night. The top of the 8th begins and I throw a first pitch changeup that is gently grounded to second base and the batter is promptly retired. 22 down, 5 to go.

All of a sudden, a prompt pops up saying that I have a lower back injury and need to be pulled from the game. I wanted to puke.

Thanks, only played a few games today but I got it up a bit and my batting average went up to .237 which isn't that bad for me.

It only a 23 right now but I'm getting it up slowly but surely.

I created a 3rd baseman with the outfield as his secondary position. I didn't do great in the showcases. I got 3 hits, 3 rbi's & scored 2 runs. I was the second 3rd baseman drafted in the first round. The Atlanta Braves took me with the 14th overall pick & I couldn't be happier playing for my favorite team.

I've had some really badly timed injuries too. I was in the middle of a 29 game hitting streak & grounded out, broke my ankle. Missed almost the entire season. Best start I've had since I've upped the difficult.

Created a SS and selected to be drafted by the Mariners, knowing they need a SS. Played games up to the AA AS game. Looking at the club roster and the AA SS was doing real well and exceeding expectations. I'm thinking, "Well, going to be awhile before I get called up to AAA." Played the AS game and sure enough, no call up after the game.

Played a week or so of games after the AS game and got the pop up that I'd been called up. Thinking, "Cool! Tacoma here I come." Looked closer and no, I've been called up to the Mariners themselves!

Was thinking, "I'm not to sure about this..." Over my next five games, I'm 1/15 with close to 6Ks. I can't hit crap. I'm at the All-Star hitting level and I can't hit or see any breaking pitches. Turned it down to Veteran level just to get my BA stabilized. Got it up to just over .200 but Wow.

I never used any extra stubs to build me up. Just equipped some items for bonuses, but that's it.

Did I get promoted too fast?

I just started a closer RTTS and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Strikeout pitcher with a fastball that hits 97 to 98.

Got drafted in the mid first round to the Brewers, had about 13 appearances in double a , with 10 saves.

Got called up to Triple A, spent the rest of the season there. Ended with 30 saves, and a 3.98 ERA.

Didn't get invited to spring training, signed a 1 year deal to be the starting closer again and that's where I'm at now.

Yeah I would say so, but then again they are weak at the SS spot. It took me two month just to get on the Mariners AAA team. 38 games away from the All-Star game and hope I can last up to there before I get called up. Wanna increase my fielding before I go to the Majors.

What your overall? Mines is a 73 with a 83 adjusted.

Those Diamond Equipment are worth it if you have the stubs to buy them and are not going to play DD. Wish I didn't spend that 12k I got from the Anniversary edition on packs, could of got a Diamond Cleats or Fielding Glove.

It think my OVR was at 72 or so with a AOVR around 80 when I got called up. I'm at 74 with a adjusted at 66 right now with 51 ABs with 5 RBIs and2 steals.

                          Holy crap!

The Tigers trade LF Yodnis Cespedes, SP Justin Verlander and CF Raja Davis to the Mariners for SP Felix Hernandez.

Jack Z has always said that Félix was untouchable.

Oh well, maybe I'll see Kate Upton in the stands now

EDIT: Or not. Just got optioned down to AAA Tacoma because of the trade.

EDIT #2: Now the M's just traded away Robinson Cano!! WTH

Funniest thing I've seen so far in 15...

Hit a decent shot to right field. RF'er ran up and attempted to make the diving catch and was unsuccessful. After getting on base the game says the RF'er was out with a broken cheek. Weirdest sounding injury in a sports game, so I watched the replay. Sure enough, when he dived the ball missed his glove completely and went right into his face.

I was drafted to the Astro's in this years version but I was also on the Astros in last years version as well. I think I'm going to demand a trade once I get called up to the show or maybe I will get traded without asking? I am absolutely tearing the cover off the ball down in AA and should be getting the call up soon.

One more thing, the Astro's traded Chris Carter for Nelson Cruz though lol maybe because I am the future at first base?

OK, the pitcher getting hit by line drives is getting ridiculous. I've seen pitcher get hit a few dozen times this season and the last two I saw were rockets off the pitcher's BACK and caught by the SS before it hit the ground for an out. The last one was with me on 2B going to 3rd and I was doubled off. Anyone want to see the replay? It's getting to the point where pitchers should start wearing catcher's gear.
