So yeah, definitely more than one but even nine does feel a little light.

I wonder what Tbarnes thinks about the trade frequency? I honestly don't know if nine is realistic or not (and that obviously only consists of 29 teams because I declined to make any trades during the sim).
There were 72 trades last year in real MLB from March to September. That is not counting the flurry that happened this winter.

Trade frequency has been toned down a little this yesr, at least appears, but that was because so many people have complained about too many trades.

      That's too bad.

How many total trades, roughly, are you seeing per season?

I'd like to ask you a different question Mr. Russell. Will there be an update/patch to recognize PS3 MLB 14 The Show data on the cloud? I've noticed I'm not the only person who upgraded to a PS4 this year and do not own the PS4 version of MLB 14 The Show, nor do I plan on or feel I should have to buy it in order to use this feature. Overall this would be a major disappointment.

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--> I don't want to critic SCEA too much because they obviously do a number of things very well. But you know what is messed up here. Last year people like myself bought the MLB 14 for the PS3 game, started our Franchise/Seasons and then a month later bought MLB 14 for the PS4 and had no problems migrating the PS3 files into the PS4 files. If that PS3 to PS4 migration worked last year, why isn’t it still in place? Even if it takes a little longer to process, the PS3 to PS4 migration should have been performed first followed by the MLB 14 to MLB 15 migration. I don’t get it.

Migrating data from one environment to another is not a trivial task. I know this because I myself am a software developer who in the past has written several data migration projects, one was to migrate legacy user profile LDAP data into a relational database and the other was to migrate insurance policy data from a legacy mainframe data store into the new more modern data store. In both cases unit test cases built into the development cycle was the only way I had confidence that the actual migration would work. I wonder if there is a job opening for a developer at SCEA who has migration experience? Nah as much as I love playing MLB The Show, I suspect their developers put in some insane hours. Been there done that, and I’m too old to go back to that world (though I am sure the weather in San Diego is the bomb and I am sure they have a fun work environment).

So there would likely be about a dozen to 14 first year.
It gets to about 8-10 in the years following.

I think there needs a bit more "flurry" the two weeks up to the deadline.

Yea this is one thing that has never really happened when I have played. It seems like trades happen throughout the whole year and deadline day doesn't really mean anything. There should be like 4 or 5 trades on deadline day like IRL.

Agreed. There are dozens pf "under the radar" trades, not just at the deadline but all season.

My problem last year was the logic. I have come terms with the prospects getting traded. But I'm still mad about the guy getting traded more than once in a season. This rarely happens during the season, and if it does the player is usually a waiver claim.

And this too, there are trades made that seem like oh he won't do much but he could win the team a WS.

Are you far enough back where you can try this yourself too?
Not in my current season, but I think I can load up an older save file and get at least a month's worth of tests in. I'll give it a shot when I get home.

Yeah, the lack of activity closer to the deadline is a little disappointing, but I was happy to see smaller veteran pieces being moved for what looked to be reasonable returns in the prospect department. Last year, it seemed like the only way anyone would trade a veteran reliever was if a top-100 prospect was included.

Re: A problem with year to year saves

Okay, I picked up the thread on May 18th. A total of 10 trades were offered from CPU controlled teams, 8 of which were accepted.

I have no idea if it means anything, but just like how I managed to break up with my first middle school girlfriend, the two trades that were "rejected" seemed more like they were passive-aggressively ignored to death. Rather than an outright "NO" from Boston, they sat in the "Trade Offers" list for weeks.

                          Trade Offers
June 2nd: Mariners 3B Kyle Seager to Detroit for SP Drew Smyly. (Player-Rejected)
June 7th: Rangers 3B Donnie Murphy to Boston for CP Koji Uehara. (Accepted)
June 9th: Giants C Andrew Susac to Angels for CP Mike Morin. (Accepted)
June 9th: Athletics RP Luke Gregerson to Angels for SP John Lackey. (Accepted)
June 26th: Twins LF Pablo Ross to Boston for C Christian Vazquez. (Accepted)
July 2nd: Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe to Atlanta for SP Jason Hursh. (Accepted)
July 3rd: Brewers SS Jean Segura to Toronto for SP Marcus Stroman. (Accepted)
July 4th: Brewers SS Jeff Bianchi to Boston for 3B Sean Coyle. (Rejected)
July 11th: Mets SP Zack Wheeler to KC for SP Yordano Ventura. (Accepted)
July 16th: Marlins SP Kevin Slowey to Boston for SP Pat Light. (Rejected)

Though it doesn't need it, I'll highlight the fact that there were no trade offers made during the final week before the trade deadline.

It seems like MLBtS could take a page out of Madden's playbook and turn the Trade Deadline into a full "day" where hours go by and negotiations are fast and furious. I dunno. Whatever they decide to do, what should have been an exciting day in the Majors fell pretty flat.

It'd also be nice to see them add a trade slider, like OOtP, so we could tailor our leagues the way we'd like them. Seems like they may have tamped down the number of trades based on some complaints. I never thought the number of trades was the problem, though.

Because you are counting strictly by number, and not by significance. How many of those 72 trades that occurred last year were random waiver claims, players to be named later, minor league deals, and deals of a fringe player for cash?

But in The Show, high quality, MLB level players seem to make up like 90% of all trades, which makes them way more disruptive, and makes them seem far more frequent.

To put that more objectively, What if you narrowed down that 72 number for real life trades... down to the number of trades that occur involving players on a team's 25 man roster? THEN compare that to The Show.

That's why I felt there were too many trades. I'm sure it's the same for others. I saw multiple key players getting traded multiple times in a year (as in, player X being traded and then traded again). MLB players just don't get shuffled around that much in one year.

That's actually a good point. I wonder how many players on a team's 40-man roster, or players in the team's top-10 prospect list, get traded every year...

Since there are no cash considerations....or PTBNL.....options in the Show....if they involved a MLB player on the other end I'll count it.

If I said there were 25? Did you see way more than that?
                                How about 30?....40?
                                Keep going?
There were 50 trades last year involving MLB level players from April to August.
