Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

We have closed out May with a disgusting 11-18 record. We have fallen to 4 back of the Pirates. One night it's hitting, next night it's starting pitching, then next night it's relief pitching. It's been frustrating.

June and we may have some significant changes coming that may shock people. Biggest being Nolan Arrenado going bye bye
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

The Tigers are off to a pretty bad start in 2016. The team is a terrible 24-27, last place in the AL Central, 1 game back of the (tied for third/ fourth place) Twins and White Sox (25-26.)

Detroit is 4 games back of the 2nd Wild Card Spot.

Newly crowned ace David Price missed most of May with a fractured arm, he will still be on the DL for 29 days. Also, offseason addition RP Tim Stauffer missed most of May with a torn finger ligament, he will still be on the DL for 45 days. Backup C Bryan Holaday will miss the next two weeks with an inflamed hip.

Due to these injuries, the lineup is currently:

      Rotation:
Anibal Sanchez (2-4, 6.55 ERA) likely to be traded
      Justin Verlander (4-2, 3.78 ERA)
      Shane Greene (3-4, 3.94 ERA)
Kyle Lobstein (5-0, 3.17 ERA) a pleasant surprise
Dan Haren (2-1, 3.00 ERA) signed from free agency when Price got hurt
6th starter: Tim Melville, called up from AAA, 0-3, 5.57 ERA)

RP Neal Cotts (1-2, 7/41 ERA) miserable start to the season for the club's biggest addition to the BP
RP Alex Wilson (0-2, 3.27 ERA)
RP Blaine Hardy (1-2, 4.60 ERA)
Jose Veras (0-0, 1.17 ERA) very pleasant surprise, signed in offseason

      Set-up: Al Alburquerque (1-2, 1.96 ERA, 1 save)
      Joba Chamberlain (001, 1.50 ERA)

Closer: Joakim Soria (0-2, 4.11 ERA, 15 saves in 17 games)

      Lineup:
3B Alden Standridge (drafted rookie, .249 AVG, 4 HRs, 12 RBI)

SS Jose Iglesias (.257 AVG, 0 HR, 26 RBI)

1B Miguel Cabrera (.340 AVG, 14 HR, 65 hits, 33 RBI) Miggy is having another incredible season late in his career. Miggy leads the AL in batting average, Mike Trout is secind at .328. He also leads the AL in hits (65 hits, Mauer is second with 63.)

LF Yoenis Cespedes (.229 AVG, 6 HR, 25 RBI) struggling, could be traded if team/Cespedes still struggles

DH Victor Martinez (.265 AVG, 1 HR, 50 hits, 22 RBI) Victor Martinez is still getting it done

RF JD Martinez (.261 AVG, 5 HR, 43 hits, 27 RBI)

CF Colby Rasmus (.190 average, 6 HR, 28 hits, 25 RBI) struggling terribly, sure to be traded

2B Ian Kinsler (.238 AVG, 4 HR, 41 hits, 14 RBI) same as Cespdes

C Gerald Laird (.316 AVG, 1 HR, 31 hits, 11 RBI) a pleasant surprise/resurgent season for the 36 year old backstop

      Bench:
C Austin Green (just called up to replace the injured Holaday)
CF Rajai Davis (.366 AVG, 2 HR, 26 hits, 5 RBI)
Utility man Willie Bloomquist (.304 AVG, 28 hits, 7 RBI) Bloomquist is having a good season in what could be his last year.

On the bright side, the AA Seawolves are tied for first in the EL Eastern with the Senators at 29-22 while the AAA Mudhens are one game back of the Clippers at 25-29 for first place in the IL West.

I just might have a fire sale if the team is still struggling in July. The first place Indians are 34-19, and have a 5 game lead on the second place Royals (28-23.)

The Nats are the MLB's beat team at 38-15, two games better than the second best 36-18 Dodgers. The Indians (34-19) and Red Sox (33-20) are the AL's best teams. In franchise time, the draft is tomorrow. I need SP, RP, C, 1B, 2B.

      ------

      Draft
1-3B Von Pope, 23 years old, switch hitter, 90 potential, power hitter, poor fielder.

2-SP Miles Manning, 22 years old, switch pitcher, 75 potential

3-RP Andres Lugo, 23 years old, right handed, 73 potential

4-SP George Hatton, 23 years old, right handed, 74 potential

5-RP Victor Tejada, 20 years old, right handed, 70 potential

6-C Gary Justice, 20 years old, left handed hitter, 60 potential
      Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

      Yankees: #AllRise

That clearly kills the realism, but then again so do all of the trades you mentioned earlier.

Tell him to lower Buxton's fielding and reaction by like 50%.

His arm won't get weaker and he won't get slower because he's drastically out of position, but he won't get as good reads/jump on the ball and won't be as comfortable there.

CF to 2B/SS isn't the worst shift (1B to SS or CF would be horrid), but it would still need to be an adjustment period in all likelihood.

So he can change the primary position, put the secondary to OF at the cost of 50% of his reaction and fielding. That's what I would tell him. Otherwise, he has what he has - Buxton as a CF. Trade for a 2B/SS if he needs one.

Yeah we started a new one and are attempting to keep it as realistic as possible.

I have only been playing MLB The Show for 2 years and love the game. One thing I noticed is that every time I play franchise mode my pitchers lead the league in strikeouts.

Is this a consistant issue in the show? I have used multiple slider sets and the results are the same.

No, it's not a consistent issue. It's a sign that you are either not on the correct difficulty or your sliders need to be changed. Unless you have the best pitching staff, of course. Maybe you should try dynamic difficulty and go from there.

Raise CPU Contact and/or Timing. Lower User Control. If you're below All-Star, I'd move up to All-Star at the least. HoF and up can be a pain (for different reasons) if you're on Classic, but All-Star is usually balanced.

Of course, though, if you stockpile high K/9 pitchers (as I usually do), then you SHOULD be among the top in K's - that's what the rating is for. You'll have to evaluate with other metrics (and you should anyway because even raising sliders that lower K's will increase other things as well since none of the sliders - and certainly not the difficulty levels - are "pure" in that there's a "K/9 only" slider).

                        <table><td bgcolor=#0B2351>End of May - 2015</td></table>

Not to bad of a month. Could have been better though. 17-12 in May to bring us to 29-22 overall. 2nd in the central and we still lead the wild card. Started the month off slow going 3-7 in the first 10 games. But rebounded to go 14-5 the best of the way with sweeps over the White Sox and Giants.

Offense still doing good. 3rd in AVG at .275, Still tied for 2nd with 99 doubles, and 3rd in slugging at .439. Unlike April we actually scored some runs and now sit 8th in the league with 218.

Cardinals have the best record in the NL at 32-19. Indians have the best in the AL at 31-19. Braves are worst in the NL at 19-31 with the Yankees and Rays worst in the AL at 22-29.

Only 2.5 starters hitting over .300 now. Lucroy had a great month. He hit .364/.435/.521 to bring his season totals to .354/.407/.519. Carlos Gomez is hitting .311/..355/.546 and tied for the team lead with 9 Hr. Gerrardo Parra is hitting .303 and is now starting in LF again right handers. Scooter Gennett is hitting .298. Braun and Adam Lind have 9 HR and Lind leads the team with 31 RBI.

Starting pitching is dog ****. Kyle Lohse 5.06 ERA, Wily Peralta 5.57 ERA, Mike Fiers 4.97 ERA. Matt Garza got hurt on the 21st. he had a 2.98 ERA. Taylor Jungman has taken his place and in his 1 start he went 6 IP giving up 1 run on 8 hits. Jimmy Nelson has been the best so far. 6-1 with a 2.43 ERA in 66 2/3 IP.

Relievers are good and bad. Corey Knebel has a 0.42 ERA in 21 2/3 IP. Tyler Thornburg has a 0.60 ERA in 15 IP. K-Rod has been bad. 5.68 ERA with 16 saves and 4 blown saves. The rest of the relievers range form 2.63 ERA to 4.05. So it could be better but we have a few guys we can count on.

                        In AAA

Tyler Cravy has a 3.03 ERA in 59 1/3 IP. Brent Sutter has a 2.73 ERA in 62 2/3 IP. He would be the call up if someone else got hurt. Not to much good in the BP down there. Brandon Kintlzer is the only one really doing good. he has a 2.19 ERA in 37 IP.

Chris Nelson, Robinson Diaz and Taylor Green are all hitting over .300. Matt Clark leads the team with 7 HR and Green leads the team with 23 RBI.

                        In AA

Starters are crap. Best ERA is Taylor Williams at 3.11. Hobbs Johnson has a 4.87, Devin Williams is at 6.45 and Johnny Hellweg is at 7.55.

Jarret Martin, Nick Additon, Tim Dillard and Mike Strong all have ERAs under 2 in the pen with Strong having 16 saves at closer.

Orlando Arcia is struggling a bit. Only hitting .239 with a terrible .135 AVg off of left handers. Juan Centeno leads the team hitting .307 in 137 at bats. Victor Roache leads with 12 HR and 33 RBI but is only hitting .209.

                        Around the majors

Max Scherzer (1.38) andCorey Kluber (2.08) lead their leagues in ERA. Scherzer (85) and Felix Hernandez (76) lead in strikeouts. Chris Sale (0.93) and Cole Hamels (0.87) lead in WHIP. Hector Rondon (20) and Neftali Feliz (20) have the most saves.

Jose Altuve (.373) and David Wright (.366) lead in AVG, Paul Goldschmidt (13) and Jose Bautista (18) lead in HR, Bautista (43) and Jason Heyward (39) lead in RBI. Mike Trout (1.032) and Buster Posey (1.094) lead in OPS.

2015 First Year Player Draft (all CPU drafted)

1st round - 18 Year old SP Garret Hill. 57 OVR (may lower this not sure yet) with 76-86 POT (will gave a random generator to decide how much i should lower all drafted starters from 10-20 points overall).

2nd round - 20 year old RF Sammy Zambrano. 44 OVR with 90 POT.

3rd round - 21 year old SP Cesar Valencia. 59 OVR (again may lower) with 70-80 POT.

4th round - 18 year old RP Sam Hernandez. 52 OVR with 88 POT (not sure how to handle relievers. If i do lower their OVR with would be 5-15 points.

5th round - 18 rear old 3B Terry Diggs. 39 OVR with 85 POT. Big switch hitter.

6th round - 18 year old SP Ryan Slade. 50 OVR with 57-67 POT.

7th round - 20 year old RP Antwan Worth. 56 OVR 62 POT.

41-51 with the Twins. I just can't get over the .500 hump. Or even close to it. I'm playing all 162 and I'm way behind. I might only get one season done this year instead of 3. Stupid life and wife getting in the way jk.

Finished year one of my Dodgers franchise, and I won the WS for the first time ever since I've been playing The Show.

I acquired Scott Kazmir and Sergio Romo before the deadline and rolled with the hitters I had. The short of it is that I beat Boston 4-1, thanks to superb starting pitching and clutch relief pitching. Casey Jansen slammed the door on 3 late-inning rallies in those games, all of which were decided by 2 runs or less.

                            I had a great first off-season.

While Rollins played well and didn't decline, I decided to go in a different direction, so I signed Alexi Ramirez to a 1 year deal, allowing Seager to spend one more season in the minors.

I resigned Kendrick and Kazmir for 1 year as well, and added depth by signing Holt and Arias, both of whom came at great prices.

My season 2 lineup is as follows:

                            SP
                            Kershaw
                            Grienke
                            Ryu
                            McCarthy
                            Kazmir

                            Rodriguez
                            Jansen

                            Lineup

I wasn't sure how I'd be able to do in year two with my payroll, but I made it under by 100K!

Both Urias and Seager will be ready for prime time by the AS break, or ST next year at the latest. That gives me the flexibility to free up payroll to keep the championship window open for at least two more years.

Is my fantasy draft roster too good?

I'm using original OSFM roster ratings, with force trades on to create a fair team with players I enjoy.

                              2B Joe Panik (74)
                              SS Manny Machado (83)
                              Lf Ryan Braun (86)
                              3B Todd Frazier (83)
                              RF Wil Myers (74)
                              CF Joc Pederson (73)
                              1B Chisenhall/ Van Slyke
                              C Andrew Susac

                              SP Gerrit Cole (86)
                              SP Michael Wacha (82)
                              SP Patrick Corbin (81)
                              SP Trevor Bauer (77)
                              SP Marcus Stroman (77)

Is this team as currently constructed too good, or is it fair enough to enjoy?

Year 1 with my Jays...played every game and won the World Series! Barely made the playoffs with a 1 game lead over the Red Sox. During the season, traded for Mitch Moreland and Will Venable. Both were key in the championship. During the offseason I was busy. First, resigned Venable and Moreland and tried to re-sign both Bautista and EE but they left despite me giving better offers. Made a desperation trade of Hutch and 2 nice prospects for Jason Heyward from St. Louis who wasn't going to sign him long term. Then signed Beltre to a 1 year deal to replace EE at DH. Signed Samardja, Clippard and Lee to bolster my pitching and Holt as a bench guy. Lost game 1 of the new season, but hoping for the best this year!
