Re: Is batting harder or is it just me?

In my RTTS continued from last year my average is about the same after 100 games, but my HR are way down. I have 10 on pace for about 16 and my last season in last years game I had 46.

      As a newbie here I must say it is pretty hard...but I think that I need a practice...lots and lots of practice..<object classid="clsid: D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="1" height="1"><param value="http://lovesmileys.com/f/4/000000-0.8.swf"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed allowScriptAccess="always" src="http://lovesmileys.com/f/4/000000-0.8.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="1" height="1"></embed></object>

Re: Is batting harder or is it just me?

Is anyone else finding it difficult to hit home runs? My RTTS player has 99 in both power attributes but I have played about 25 games in '15 and I have only hit 2 home runs. I use the PCI hitting interface where you can move it to the location you think it will be. Maybe that is it but I am not sure. Just seems like its really difficult to hit home runs this year

I find batting to be realistic , not to easy but not that hard. Got to watch that pitcher throwing lots ball though, he works you ,lol

Made the switch from analog to button and was able to get nine hits my first game using it.

I will not be using analog again. Such a shame they jacked it up and completely ruined timing with it.

The nice thing about this franchise is there are different ways to play so it all boils down to choosing what works best for you.

Re: Is batting harder or is it just me?

I am just noticing that too many pitchers have unrealistic changeups....

Guys like Eddie Butler and Tanaka should not have 74 mph changeups with 96 mph fastballs.....Tanaka throws a splitter not a change.

They need to fix the pitch edits.....

The timing window is horribly small and anything late or early is fouled off which doesn't happen irl

Seriously, that's my experience here. The timing window is ridiculous, even if you jack the slider to 10. I'm late on fast balls and early on offspeed pitches, constantly. If I do get good timing it's just as liable to be fouled back as driven. I'll go on massive slumps, break out for 10 games and suddenly hit timing right despite changing nothing, and then go back. It's weird. I'm sure my camera (Catcher View 2) isn't helping but it's what I'm used to.

You'd think being late or early would influence hitting too (hit late, push, hit early, pull) but it doesn't have rhyme or reason, I'm just as likely to turn on something early and hit it opposite field for a long fly ball as I am to come in late and hit a scorcher down the near base path.

Whatever directional is, it ain't timing.

Re: Is batting harder or is it just me?

Okay, so I've posted a few times about my inability to pull anything with "Timing" hitting.

So I've been doing batting practice (Bat Control and Discipline) before loading my franchise the last few nights and I've definitely seen positive results.

Plain and simple, if I'm not looking for a fastball, I'm going to be late on the fastball.

As a result, my entire batting philosophy has changed this season. In 14, it was simply see ball, hit ball. But in 15, I'm looking for the fastball and trying to lay off the offspeed.

Of coarse, the count dictates my approach to an extent. But even with an 0-2 or 1-2 count, the offspeed often falls out of the strike zone, so laying off still isn't a bad strategy. I'd rather strike out looking at an offspeed pitch on the edge than chase a bad pitch in the dirt.

There's also the batter-pitcher chess game the emerges after a few innings. If he's throwing his changeup or curve for strikes consistently, I'll start looking for the offspeed instead of the fastball in certain spots. When I do this, I have to accept that I'm going to be late on the fastball, so I have to choose my spots carefully.

And hey, remember strikeouts are part of the game. If I'm committed to the fastball and am way out in front of the changeup, hat tip to the pitcher. If it happens a few more times, I'll start looking offspeed in strikeout situations. If he starts blowing fastballs by me at that point, then good for him. It's the chess match.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. And if you haven't tried the batting practice modes, I highly recommend them. The default mode is kind of lame, but the discipline mode in particular is very well done. I went from getting low score to getting silver or gold consistently, and there's no doubt I've become a much better hitter because of it.

I've been pretty awful at batting this year, but I think some of it comes naturally with getting accustomed to the new game. For instance, I'm waaaay out in front of change-ups now. Can't explain it, they just look different coming across the plate.

Agreed. As a casual player I very much enjoyed -14. Thinking of deleting -15, it just is not fun to play unfortunately.

While I don't mind that it is harder lol. My last game I put pitch speed back down to 5 from 7 and hit way better. Up in till last year the MLB games where really really hard to hit. Last years game was much much easier to hit. I would say this years is harder but not as hard has the mlb games before 14 and already I can say this game is much better then last year so there is no way I could ever go back to last years.

Funny, I couldn't hit last year either in the couple months that I kept the game. 09 thru 12 I could hit, 14 was hard, this year is making me think veteran with a 6 contact slider is needed to keep me competitive.

Oh, and pitching is definitely much harder this year on A/S level.

.... could also be I'm just getting too old for reflexive video gaming, too.

Really about the hitting I mean. From 08 to 13 I played on AS but I had a hard time hitting and was really closer to veteran level but on veteran the CPU would never walk you so I forced my self to play on all star but had to put some of the hitting slider up to hit. Last year on the another hand I was almost good enough for HOF hitting. Now pitching is harder for sure this year. In the past I found AS pitching to easy but HOF to hard. This year so far on DD rookie I am having some issues lol.
