That's more online cheese than anything. What you do to combat that is, make the return throw (preload) as soon as the catcher releases his throw to first... or if you know your opponent is going to do that, just hold the bold and tag him out at home, or start a rundown on the runner on third.

For those claiming that those seeing this are simply not pre-loading their throws or flat out just doing something wrong here's what I have to say about that.


Most people who are playing this game have played MLB The Show since at least MLB 10 or 11. We know how to pre-load throws. I don't need a tutorial video. I play with throw meter off as well so that's not a factor. This is an issue, and frankly the lackadaisical fashion the fielders, both IF and OF show has been the same for as far as I can remember. The outfielders having to slam against the wall before throwing the ball, infielders taking their time to throw runners out on groundballs and double plays. That's all been a problem for years now, nothing new. And nothing a darn tutorial video is going to fix lol


Now the whole bug with the catcher and other baseman not attempting tags, or missing "easy" tag outs at the plate is new this year and never been seen.


My point is, instead of assuming we don't know how to play or what we are doing, assume the opposite. Most HAVE played this game for years and know how to play the game.

Agreed. I preload all the time and early and still see all the things folks have posted videos for.

You can have problems with branching depending on the timing of your input whether you're using a meter or not. So, there may still be something to learn even after playing for a few years...


The reason that tutorials are suggested and videos are requested is that we have spent a lot of time and effort to eliminate instances of overly casual throws, and oftentimes if a video is presented, it is easier to diagnose the problem. Whether it is a real bug, incorrectly timed throw input, misunderstanding of the throw canceling feature, etc., videos are essential.


If you run across instances that you feel are an issue and really would like it addressed, please capture video, and post here or TheShowNation.

I'm on ps3 and have no clue how to capture videos. I always play auto fielding, have the meter off and throw cancelling off too to eliminate as much as I can. Even on auto throw I've seen lackadaisical fielding

Never should a guy be able to tag up and score from second on a sac fly though. That happens on this game and I can tell you it's not cuz we don't pre load a throw to the cut off man. It's cuz the OF decides he must run into the wall 10 feet to his right AFTER he makes the catch lol.

If you have phone that captures video, it should be fairly simple. Please capture any plays you would like to see addressed.

I've seen fielders jump and stretch like that to tag out runners before.

at least in your play the players momentum was going the same way and not defying physics as you see in some of these plays people are using in online games

That catcher tag looks like a bug for sure. I get that one and the one where he has the ball five seconds before the runner and he swipe tags two seconds after the runner scores.
