Even with meter pitching, zone hitting, and manual fielding and throwing, ratings will still generate randoms events. This includes missed grounders, a pitch that is perfectly in the green yet still does not go where you want, a good timing swing with the ball in the center of the PCI that is a weak pop up. These are all rating generated random events. So yes, the game code is doing this, but it is the ratings, nothing more, introducing these events.

The exception is some of these glitches or wonky animations (such as the fielder slowing down at the wall after a catch) but those happen at all difficulties and settings.

And to further add to this, these are issues the developers have recognized as problems, and have stated they will be taking another look at.

But there are settings already in place (classic, timing, auto) to have ratings be the primary factor of results. In other games you're not penalized if you mastered something by ratings.

To use NBA 2k as an example, if you shoot a shot in the green, you're not going to get an airball. I feel the same should be in the Show. If I'm choosing to play with zone or meter and I hit something perfectly, I shouldn't be penalized because of "ratings"....because again there are settings in place to have ratings be the deciding factor.

I can't tell you how many times on offense on the higher difficulties, I'm getting better contact (PCI indicates this) than the CPU and I'm hitting outs, while their PCI is no where near the ball and hitting oppo HR's. The AI should be playing smarter and better, not handicapping my results because ratings are taking over.

And some of us want it how it is where I play the game but still have ratings have an effect on the game.

And the CPU does play smarter on higher difficulties. There is no cheating/cheesiness/boosting taking place.

If that was the case there would be more than 2 or 3 people complaining. Trust me

One thing to clear up, PCI is not the barrel of the bat, it is just the likelihood that you make good contact. Center of the PCI is the best CHANCE but never 100%, ratings ultimately determine outcome. So not having the PCI on the ball still has the CHANCE of being a hit. PCI location is just one of many factors in the algorithm, not the end all be all factor.

In regards to your example, I would argue that in NBA 2k...u could master the shots in the green but the ratings will still make you miss. In Madden, you can still user catch, but the ratings will still determine drops. Ratings are the backbone of sports video games and always will be. It is how you differentiate between Mike Trout and Stephen Drew.

In regards to difficulties, ratings adjustments is how difficulty is scaled. All-star is exactly what the ratings say, rookie and veteran the user gets a ratings boost, HOF and legend the CPU gets a rating boost...this is how the game makes them play better.

You may not like that ratings are a factor in outcomes and I can understand that to an extent. But like I said in my earlier post, MLB the show is not the game for you if that is the case. I won't pretend to know what other baseball games are out there but I am guessing there is a game that doesn't not have a ratings factor.

It wouldn't bother me for one second if meter/zone were 100% user input based. Just completely throw out ratings for guys who want a solid hit to be roped somewhere out there. Let manual fielding not have errors.

                Agree on that.

And I agree that ratings should play a part, but the show is a simulation..

And solid pci placement and hitting the meter is suppose to replicate a real life player making good contact and a pitcher hitting his spots. If a player does this in real life, they should see good results no matter what their "rating" or history says is the usual outcome.

Because again if I wanted ratings to decide, I would use classic and timing.

The only thing I will say: i am still fortunate to play baseball and there are times I put a swing I think is great but I found it straight back. Or I throw a pitch and hit my spot only to have it hit hard somewhere.

Re: I really, really want to like this game.

If you want there to be 100% user input more or less when swinging, then why not play on the lower levels like Veteran? A good timing swing generally will be hit over and over. Raise pitch speed and shrink the timing window and whatever else you think should be adjusted and it will be what you're looking for. Don't let the name if the difficulty run your experience.

I used to want to play HoF only, but I soon found out that you can't really do that with timing hitting. No matter who was up, good timing meant nothing on that level in my experience. Instead of letting pride get in that he way, I've just settled on All Star sliders I came up with that play out amazing for me.

If you want to make user input matter more than anything, lower it even below all star and just tweak what you need to keep it difficult and you'll get what you want.

But thst happens in the Show. If I put a good swing on the ball then I get good results more often then not. And ratings have to play a part. If not I could turn Pete Kozma into Gincarlo Stanton or have pitchers breaking home run records.

I want to play a simulation of baseball and the Show does that. If I wanted arcade I would play something else.
