Re: Bad bad feeling about this years game

The beautiful part about this series is you can make it as easy or as hard as you want. You can play very sim, very arcadey or something in between. And I would guess the large majority of us fall somewhere in the middle and the balance of arcade vs sim is very much a personal preference.

At least this game gives you the tools to cater the experience to your liking. The NBA 2K series is probably the only other one that does so consistently. Games like Madden (though I liked 15 and especially 16 alot) and NHL and others tend to bounce between a more sim focus one year, more arcadey the next.

Yes perks and such are being introduced this year. Totally optional features. But there's TWO blogs/streams dedicated to Franchise. There's something here for everyone and quite frankly, that has never been a bad thing.

    Now, about that stride....

          Spoiler

I wouldn't say i have a bad feeling about this years game, just no where near as good a feeling as years past.

I just feel like it's become a little stagnant, with relatively small improvements the last few years (with the exception of year to year saves).

The improvements they have made (such as brand name equipment, retractable roofs, any graphical improvements) merely seem to be additions that are just catching up to other games.

I mean, i guess i'll have a "good" feeling because it's baseball season and i'll have a good baseball game to play for the next 9-12 months. But i just feel like it could be a lot better.

I'm speaking with my wallet as I did last year and will continue to do until stride gets put back in the game. It was such an unnecessary change.

We'll never stop playing video games. They're a generational thing, not an age thing. The reason why our parents never played them is because they didn't grow up with them. And by the time the NES rolled around, the Baby Boomers had no interest in learning how to play it. They deemed it to be a kids thing.

Boy did they miss out. And I'm excited about this year's game, considering that Franchise is pretty much all I play.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

Well, not really...I am 60 next month and have been playing video games since the 80's...Atari on up through them all. My son was born in 1988 so that kept me engaged but truth is I was always into sport games (board first, then computer, then consoles). So...the truth is...I have been playing games before many of you were born! LOL..

Stagnant is the same word I would use.
The commentary, presentation and pitching mechanics are all boring and stale.

I like the pulse-pitching but it's lacking any depth whatsoever.
I haven't played '15 so I may be wrong about this. But from what I've read it seems like every pitcher's pulse interval speed is the same - as it was in '14.
It doesn’t seem to matter what your attributes are, the situation or what your stamina is, the pulse rate is the same across the board.
Why not have a much slower pulse rate if the pitcher is an all-star, fresh and throwing his best pitch?
Just like the pulse should quicken if I’m throwing one of my weaker pitches and I’m using a mediocre starter.
The pulse should be downright erratic if my guy is rattled, tired or just sucks.
Heck, maybe the crowd can have influence on it as well if you’re on the road and they’re making an incredible amount of noise?
This would be an interesting dynamic when playing in Franchise Mode. Actually having sellout crowds could pay dividends at times.

I don't think anyone can dispute the merits of the series. The NBA2K series has taken over as the defacto sports franchise, but The Show was carrying the standard for many years, and rightfully so.
But this series has been stuck in a stale rut of late and its little things which I mentioned above that could provide some much needed flavour.

I'm 32, almost 33 and spend A LOT of time updating players to accurate equipment. So I obsess over equipment, and I'm not a kid.

                              +1 for the stride!

I never really understood why they took it out.

I remember Ramone saying in an interview a few years back, that they are proud of only adding and never removing feratures.

I don't mind the new analog hitting, I'm sure a lot of players like it, but why taking away the old one? I've never seen a good reason for that and I hope SCEA already realised that it was a mistake...
