Since I have started playing(which was MLB 12) I have a seen a few things cut that I felt added realism and immersion. Or things tweaked and changed that I feel have made the game worse.
- Signs from 3rd Base Coach, asking you to steal a base, or lay down a bunt was removed. You were actually punished and benched for stealing when you were told not too, or being caught too many times.
- The way the Timing Window was changed and widened from 12-13 that introduced a weird floaty effect that has been there ever since. Hitting just hasn't felt right since the change.
- The numerous cuts to broadcast mode, especially in RTTS and Batter walk-ups. Constantly being warped back into the batters box during an at-bat. Probably the most annoying this they have done since I started playing.
- And yes the Stride being removed, which I've noticed causes other issues. Not pulling back on the stick, gives you less room to stop a swing and hold up on something you do not want to swing at. There is less movement to cover with the stick so checking has become more difficult. Also the load up helped alot with timing(for me anyway). The loading up just felt natural and real to me.
I'm sure I have forgotten 1 or 2 things.
I just feel realism is being sacrificed too much to make the game easier, and not actually making it a better game.
I was first attracted to The Show and it is the only Sports game I own and purchase yearly, because of the challenge and realism of it. But each year it feels like the reason I started playing is slowly being chipped away, and replaced with casual pandering, or gimmicks.
