Re: MLB The Show 16 Q&A Thread

will a bullpen pitcher be greatly affected by his stamina if he goes from cold to warm back down to cold and warm? Maybe between a couple of innings?

      1) In the mlb prospects, are the faces decent? And the names? And do any of them opt out of going to your team, in favor of college?
      2) How are the servers? I had issues with nba 2k16's
      3) Is it worth the price?
Thanks for any and all help.
      1) If you download the OSFM roster from the vault, you get better minor-leaguers with more accurate face, stances, and pitching motions. The default rosters only have the real top prospects and your other minor-leaguers are random dudes. Definitely go with the OSFM rosters.
      2) I don't play online so someone else will have to chime in.
      3) I think it's definitely worth the money. If you can get it on sale or pre-owned, even more so.

        query about getting walks:

in previous shows, i was able to walk as much as i struck out. probably 50 to 70 times a season. sometimes (with IBB) i'd walk more. currently four months into the season and i haven't walked once. have struck out only 15 or so times but haven't come close to walking.

think i've only had three counts go to three balls.

is there a slider for this?

What difficulty are you on? That has probably the largest effect as the CPU's pitching strategy changes significantly. On Veteran and below it will pound the strike zone, while on HOF it will frequently aim just off the corners in order to make you chase. All-Star is somewhere in-between, but I find it hard to draw walks there at the default sliders.

Pitcher consistency is probably the best slider to mess with for increasing walks, but I'm still curious about the difficulty. Also, are you playing regular games or RTTS?

CPU pitcher control, consistency, and strike percentage will all affect this. I would tweak them until you find a level that's working like you expect.

think i'm on veteran. i do find the pitchers will give me at least one, often more, pitches in the middle of the plate so that would support what you are saying about the veteran level.

tried to take counts deeper by not swinging early in the count but my K rate went up a lot - obviously.

              pretty much only play RttS.

In that case, it's amplified even more. If you're in AA for example on the Veteran level, you've actually been playing at a level equivalent to Rookie. And that's almost non-stop strikes, and I can totally understand why you've rarely seen 3 ball counts. As you move up through the system, the difficulty goes up internally - 1 level per level of the minors/MLB.

And it's been like this for probably as long as RTTS has been around. It might be that you didn't notice before when you were tearing up the minors in past games, and actually started to see a challenge once you hit MLB?

Anyway, you can change the difficulty to counter that internal shift, and I'd recommend doing just that if you want to have any kind of challenge in the minors.

There's proof of this in the game, btw:

How would I go about finding out a defensive players value, to edit his defensive attributes. I've got Mitch Moreland and Prince Fielder on my team, OBVIOUSLY Mitch Moreland is the better defensive 1stbasemen but their attributes do not reflect that.

Mitch Moreland according to fangraphs, baseball reference, and the eye test is one of the top 3-5 defensive 1st basemen in baseball and it's a huge oversight by SCEA to not only leave his stats untouched from last year, but to have Prince Fielder's defensive stats far and above his.

So my question is, how can I change Moreland's defensive attributes to closely reflect his 2015/16 seasons?

If your inside franchise mode, go to the MANAGE ROSTER screen and select Mitch Moreland. Press X and then select EDIT PLAYER. Once there you go to ATTRIBUTES and then scroll down and you'll see his defensive attributes.

Wait for the OSFM hybrid roster!

When playing online, every time a runner steals and I try to throw them out my catcher pauses for a second before throwing. I watch other people throw the ball quickly and normally. No matter when or how I press the button to throw, I get an animation where my catcher just stands there for a second before rearing back to throw. I don't think it's connection related because I was playing a friend with terrible connection and he could throw just fine. Sorry for such a long question

I know this is an easy fix, but does anyone know why there have been two live roster updates since the Yankees signed Nick Swisher, and he still isn't in their system in the weekly updates.

Is there a way to see the hot zones without having them on by default?

when i am playing online and i am batting i like to swing influence(holding r2 + direction) and it darkens the strike zone and shows the pitches thrown in that particular at bat or the last at bat for that player. Does my opponent see this? I hope not because it would be kind of annoying i also do this when pitching but instead i press r3 and it shows me what pitches i threw to him last. Again is my opponent seeing me do this? i know in years past they would but i have never seen it on my end so i was just wondering if it's just me . thanks.

Up your Plate Discipline ability. The higher it is, the more likely the pitcher will throw out of the strike zone.
