For fun I just simmed eight years of a RTTS career. Got drafted by the Braves as a speedy SS. Got called up to AAA after about two months, and up to MLB a few weeks after that. After that I played a full season for the Braves, then got traded to Miami at the end of my second season.
Made the All-Star team for the Marlins and led them to the NLCS, but got non-tendered for some reason in the offseason. No one was willing to give me more than a million a year, and I ended up going with the Red Sox.
Made it to the ALCS, though without the All-Star trip. Red Sox offered me just 900k, which I accepted because I'm an idiot who forgot that arbitration existed. Played out two more years in Boston as I broke out into a high 90s overall superstar who OPSed around .870 with 50+ steals both years, and yet never got a raise.
Free agency rolled around and I got a lot of offers, but they were all extremely low AAV for tons of years. I countered the highest AAV offer down to one year, $2.2 million from the Pirates. After an 8.6 WAR season, they gave me something like a 9 year, $14 million offer.
I signed with the Twins for one year, $2.1 million. 97 overall, 8.7 WAR, OPS over .900, 57 stolen bases, and they declined to offer me a contract in the offseason. Same deal as always, the highest offer was from the Yankees at 9 years and about $20 million. Hopefully this gets fixed in a patch because ugh, bummer.
