Lol well so far so good. Only 3 games into the season but so far I'm surprised at Big Papi holding down first base for the majority of the game, though he is eventually replaced by James Loney. Stanton is the only one that's been shaky, but I'll sacrifice some range for that crazy power

Our 7 game winning streak has come to an end as we dropped the series finale to the Brewers. Our bats were quiet after being strong the entire series.

We stand now at 7-2 and will be taking on the Reds in Busch for a weekend series.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Can I borrow your Red Sox squad? I have a new Red Sox franchise I play a bit and it's been pulling teeth to start the year. Each game has been a struggle and I want to shoot these starting pitchers. My goodness they all seem so mediocre!

Yeah. Price's first start, he looked awesome. His next one? He had no location and got bombed.

Sad when Steven Wright has the best outing in the last go round in the rotation lol. Knuckleballs ftw.

Just finished regular season of YR1 in my "just-GM-and-sim" franchise.

We (Mets) win the East with a 98-64 record (Dodgers 105 & Giants 102 only MLB teams to finish with a better W-L than us). Our rotation was so dominant.

              Harvey 33GS 17-7 238IP 249K 2.53ERA 1.07WHIP
              Thor 33GS 17-8 219IP 234K 2.83ERA 1.19WHIP
              deGrom 30GS 13-4 202IP 210K 2.45ERA 1.12WHIP
              Matz 31GS 16-8 202IP 172K 3.38ERA 1.31WHIP
              Wheeler 22GS (injury problems again) 8-5 153IP 147K 2.41ERA 1.14WHIP

              Colon 13GS (25G overall) 8-8 99IP 58K 3.64ERA 1.26WHIP

We traded a young SP for Chad Qualls who made the ASG. He ended up being our best reliever down the stretch.

Yoenis Cespedes should win the MVP but it might go to Arrieta.
              .283AVG 40HR 117RBI .551SLG .891OPS

We play the Cubs in the NLDS. We won the regular season matchup 4 games to 3 (outscored them 21-17 in those 7 games).

The real life Twins are making me second guess my choice. Wanted to build around Buxton/Sano and those two might not be destined for anything good at all.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm waiting for OSFM to drop before starting my actual 'chise, but started one with the Cubs and simmed through year 1 to get a feel for the offseason.

Everything was going fine, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why I keep getting the message that my free agent offer is being withdrawn because I 'can no longer afford the contract'??

I literally have everyone signed, with no outstanding renewable or arb eligible players left. My budget says that I have around 5.3 million left and my pending offers are currently 0. I try to offer C.J. Wilson around a 1 year/3 million deal, but I get the message saying that I can't afford the contract.

Any idea what I could be missing?

Maybe they will in your universe.

Buxton hit 99 in mine and Sano ended up latching on the Braves and became a threat. If they fizzle in real life - I won't be changing them.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Marlins came out flat after the All-Star Break.

Boeve suffered his 5th loss on the season as the bats again did not want to help him out on a day he was slightly off.

He gutted through 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts.

Unfortunately, the Marlins bats just didn't have anything much in them. The top of the lineup did next to nothing. Harper had a sac fly at least but that was about it. The bottom of the order tried to spark the team, but they are bottom of the order hitters for a reason.

Mets also lost so the lead remains at 6, but the Marlins cold streak continues, having lost 6 of their last 7 now.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Clay Huff salvaged the third game with his finesse bend-don't-break pitching style.

He went 7 innings without a single strikeout. Gave up 8 hits, a couple walks, but induced four double plays.

That helped him allow just three runs. The offense showed up this time and the Marlins snap out of it a little.

                          Then this game.

Luis Heredia had the oddest line I've seen yet:

                          5.1 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 1 BB, 10 K.

That's just...crazy. He's not even that good at strikeouts - but just about every ball in play was a hit.

That put the Marlins in a early 8-2 hole.

They clawed back against Teheran before chasing him with the score 8-6 through 7. Marlins bullpen was trying to keep the team in the game. It looked bleak, though, as Kimbrel came in.

First two hitters went down, and it looked like game over. However, an error on a grounder to 2nd by Harper gave Chris Davis a chance.

He hit a towering fly ball to right field the made it to the first row. Literally. It was more like a 340-foot pop up than a fly ball, a testament to his still amazing power at 35 years old. The Marlins tied it at 8-8. The Braves right fielder was visible upset and very animated about not being able to bring it back in the park to end the game.

The Marlins took the lead 9-8 in the 10th. But then it was Leone's turn to mess up. 2nd pitch he threw to Freddie Freeman got jacked out to right field to tie the game. Braves got another runner on but Leone used a DP to get out of the 10th.

Catcher Tommy Cruz reached base to lead off the 11th. He moved to second on a sac bunt and reached third on a single. With runners on the corners, the Marlins put the hit-and-run on and SS Campos made it work with a bouncer towards the middle of the diamond. Any chance of a double play was out and that lead Cruz come in with another go-ahead run.

This time, the Marlins made it stand up as RP Campos (there's two on the team lol) picked up his first save of the year as he usually a set-up man. He and Rondon were the only two men left in the bullpen.

The Marlins bullpen really shined overall. While Leone gave up the lead, it was only possible thanks to them pitching 5 2/3 IP and giving up just 3 hits and 1 run (Freeman's HR) that the Marlins won.

For Heredia, this was the worst start of his young career. Will be interesting to see if he can bounce back.

I'm thinking about starting over with an AL team.

It's getting hard watching the real Braves lose and then following it up with a loss in the show every night. Other than my season-opening win, it's eerie how my Braves have played like the real Braves.

I played a regular season game in my test Chise last night using the Royals.

That is one fun team to play with. Serious fun. I think they are going back to the WS yet again. They are just a terrific ball club and still young. Moose and Hos, Cain and Salvador....all coming into their prime years. Super solid pitching and we all know the bullpen. Speed at the top and bottom with Escobar and Dyson. Really love playing with them other than the Yankees.
