Cardinals lose to Dodgers, Kershaw 7-4.

The Cardinals dropped their 3rd game in a row as they were taken down by Kershaw and the Dodgers 7-2. Kershaw wasn't his overly dominant self in the game as the Cardinals tallied 7 hits against him and 4 runs, but that wouldn't be enough as the Cardinals pitching staff was less than stellar on this night in Los Angeles.

Michael Wacha who was scheduled to start the game, missed this start after spraining his ankle. Lance Lynn was thrust into the starting role and gave up 6 runs over 6 innings as the bullpen has been taxed here of late. Tyler Lyons was a bright spot pitching the other 2 innings allowing 1 hit, 0 runs and striking out 5.

The Cardinals bats showed some life against Kershaw, the biggest being a slumping Matt Carpenter who went 3-4 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and a walk. The other bright spot was Alex Rios who was 2-2 with a sacrifice and 2 walks.

The Cardinals look to return to their winning ways as they will face Scott Kazmir in game 2 of the series. Mike Leake will toe the rubber for the Cardinals.

      IN OTHER NEWS

The Cardinals have yet to decide what to do with Jaime Garcia and Michael Wacha both who are suffering from injuries right now. Jaime Garcia is dealing with elbow discomfort and Wacha is dealing with a sprained ankle. The Cardinals are hesitant to put one, or both, on the 15-Day DL as they don't believe that the injuries are that significant. However Garcia is expected to miss his next start against the Dodgers. The Cardinals will most likely call up Tim Cooney from Memphis to spot start. If both do wind up on the DL expect Cooney, and Miguel Socolovich to be called up. Cooney will move into the rotation and Lynn will most likely move in as he did when Carlos Martinez spent time on the DL with back issues.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I was going to post this in an existing "The game hates me" thread, except the thread I found was locked. Regardless, the game clearly hates me.

I am playing MoM games in a Season mode and the first three weeks of the season controlling the Boston Red Sox, things were looking very very good. I was in 1st place with a record of 14-5. But since then the wheels have fallen off the bus as I have lost 7 of my last 8 games and I am not losing close games. I am getting blown out in every one of these recent losses. I can't pitch (starting pitchers are tanking big time and all the relievers are all gassed due to the high work load they have had to do during this losing streak), I can't hit. Well not 100% true. Mookie Betts and Xander Boegarts are hitting. But everyone else is an easy out and my players can't field either. If I was controlling the players you could say that I just suck. But I am playing MoM games here and I do sit players when they are tired or cold. But when almost the whole team is cold, who do you sit?

So yeah the game hates me. I am sure it won't hate me all season long. I am sure sooner or later this constant losing will come to an end. But right now I am losing my mind. I have to give the real world managers credit for not going postal when their players tank.

Is it okay to ask questions in this thread?

I was just wondering if guys potential ever changes as you progress in franchise? Can a guy go from a B up to an A? OR maybe with a poor season drop from an A to a B or C?

Or are those letter grades locked in?

            Thanks!

Anybody here play with the giants in franchise mode?. The giants farm prospects are pretty ****ty, but not complaining because of the awesome lineup we have(which is due to the farm system)..question is, has anyone made any trades to get in some good prospects or are you just relying on the draft and free agency to build the system back up? Thanks.

Just pounded the Mets 12-4 to move to 35-23 on the year. Two games back to the Brews who simply refuse to lose now. (Year 2 on 15).

Fired up a Padres franchise; small budget, weak farm, nice stadium. I'm using the OSFM 2.5 40 man so I can set my own 25 roster for Opening Day. Then I'll use the play one, sim five method.

I'm doing this right now. Team is 11-39. I've just decided to blow it up already. Moved Cash, Norris, Alexei, and Wallace for prospects. I'm using real salaries so Shields and Kemp are unmovable.

                      It's a great challenge. Enjoy.

Yup! I see the potentials change all the time for players. Normally they're slight, not drastic. i.e. a prospect goes from B potential to A potential, but in reality, their potential only goes from 89 to 90 or 91, so not a huge change.

Each change might be just 2 points or so, but they add up, though. So if you raise a prospect from low B to A over his baseball life - that's a nice little change.

Sort by potential on the roster and keep an eye on the order. That's how I noticed my boy Damian Boeve surpass Jose Fernandez in potential. They were both "A" but Boeve clawed his way to the top of the roster and I know Fernandez was near 99.

Makes it even more sad that they took out the "stock is rising/falling" messages. I really liked getting those with a run down of his latest stats

Marlins earned a split in a brief interstate match-up with the Rays.

In the first game, Bartlett didn't have anything going on his knuckleball and got knocked around the yard for 5 runs. The bullpen didn't help things out either, helping send the Marlins to an 8-3 loss. Brito hit his 24th HR to be the only bright spot.

In game two, the Marlins got revenge by jumping on the Rays starter Gillo. Chris Davis hit two home runs and is now up to 34 on the season, both coming off the first pitch he saw from a new reliever. In the fifth inning, the Marlins hit two HR off the first two pitches the reliever threw and nearly had a third off the third pitch he threw, but Brito hooked it just foul. Boeve was strong as usual, and the Marlins won 8-1.

The lead over the Mets remains at 9 games heading into the second half of August.

Cardinals losing streak stands at 5 now as they are swept by the Dodgers. The Cardinals got very little out of their pitching staff in this series and while the bats were fairly hot, they left plenty of men on base that could've changed the outcome of the games.

The Cardinals will return home to face the Rockies who are struggling at the moment (lost 7 of last 10). Carlos Martinez will get the start in Game 1 of the series.

The Cardinals have decided to send Lance Lynn down to Memphis to see if he can work out his kinks. Miguel Socolovich will be called up to replace him on the 25 man roster.
