Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Reading this thread has motivated me to keep updating my franchise.

Just started a Rays franchise and just finished my first game of the Blue Jays series.

Chris Archer vs J.A Happ. The opening day crowd was excited to see their beloved Rays play against the Blue Jays today. We knew that it was going to be a difficult game due to the Blue Jays bats. Chris Archer had stepped on the mound, completely unfazed by the likes of Joey Bats, Josh Donaldson, Tulo, and Encarnacion. Archer started off the game by striking out Kevin Pillar and Josh Donaldson. That set the tone for the Rays defensively as Archer only gave up 4 hits and no runs, striking out 4.

The Rays offense on the other hand was nonexistent. You know it's bad when your #8 and #9 hitters were the offense. Logan Forsythe was 2-3 with a run, while Brad Miller was 1-4 with a RBI. The Rays held on to a 1-0 lead until the top of the 9th. Boxberger came in for the save only to blow it on an RBI single by Encarnacion. We go to the bottom of the 9th and the Blue Jays retire two batters. Longo comes up to bat with two outs at the bottom of the 9th. 2-1 count and the pitcher hangs a change-up..Longo blasts it out of the park for a walk-off win on opening day.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I fired up my Dodgers franchise as soon as the OSFM 2.5 40 man dropped and am now through the first month of the season.

I'm playing one game per series and simulating the rest, using Armor's sliders.

We're sitting at 2nd in the NL West, .5 GB from SD. The team record is 14-11.

It's a pretty simple story at the MLB level: amazing pitching and decent defense is winning us games, but the offense is killing us.

My team BA is .215, worst in the league. The team ERA is 2.42, second in the league to NYM. And the team FLD % is .987, 15th in the league.

      My rotation is:

      Kershaw: 3-2 .96 ERA 43K
      Kazmir: 3-2 2.4 ERA 27K
      McCarthy: 0-2 3.06 17 K
      Ryu: 4-1 2.91 ERA 28 K
      Anderson: 2-1 5.2 ERA 18 K

      My lineup vs. RHP is:

      Utley: .204 1 HR 3 RBI
      Seager: .289 2 HR 11 RBI
      Puig: .259 6 HR 14 RBI
      A-Gon: .306 4 HR 14 RBI
      Turner: .253 2 HR 11 RBI
      Grandal: .177 5 RBI
      Crawford: .137 1 RBI
      Pederson: .104 3 RBI

      My notable bench players are:

      Kendrick: .241 1 HR 6 RBI
      Hernandez: .242 3 HR 11 RBI

I really like Hernandez and want to find a way to get him into the lineup as an everyday player. I'm sour on Crawford and Eithier, and am not sure what to do with Joc.

I definitely need a reliable top of the order guy and I need an improvement in LF, but I have great pitching depth and can likely make a trade for an upgrade at 2B or LF.

I might consider a move at 3B as well if Turner doesn't heat up. I don't hit well with him or Kendrick despite high attributes.

At the MILB level, I have several pitchers playing well.

Maeda is currently in AAA and he's 2-1 w/ a 3.41 ERA. With Anderson's struggles, I'm considering bringing Maeda up in a few weeks' time and perhaps flipping Anderson.

At AA, Frias, Lee, and Urias all have a sub-3.0 ERA. I'm looking to keep them all in AA until mid-season just to keep them hot.

Hitting-wise, at AAA, I'm getting some good production from:

      Guerrero (3B): .321 11 RBI
      Dickson (1B): .368 3 HR 8 RBI
      Hassan (RF): .286 2 HR 13 RBI
      Farmer (C): .279 7 RBI

      At AA, my standouts are:

      Johnson (2B): .319 3 HR 15 RBI POT jump from C to B
      Thompson (LF): .339 5 HR 14 RBI

Overall, the first month was a lot of fun. I'm going to sit tight for another month to see who rises in the lineup, especially in the outfield, before thinking about trade options.

I'm seeing Trayce Thompson as being MLB-ready by next year, which will help alleviate my LF issue. I also think Micah Johnson will be MLB-ready in 2 years, tops, which will help solve my problems with Utley and Kendrick.

Now I'm headed into month 2 and am loving the game!

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Cardinals snap 5 games losing streak with 2-0 win over the Rockies.

Carlos Martinez pitched a gem as he threw a complete game shutout vs the Rockies. Martinez allowed 5 hits, giving up 1 walk, while striking out 8. No Rockie got past first base in this game. Martinez is now 3-0 with a sub 2.00 ERA.

The bats were once again, well bad, for the Cardinals but they did manage to push across 2 runs thanks to a Holliday solo homer, his 12th this year, in the 5th and Wong's groundout RBI in the 7th. There was nothing else significant to write about in terms of batting, unless you want to talk about the fact that Rios is now 1 for 21 since being signed. Cardinals are starting to 2nd guess this move.

Game 2 is tonight as Adam Wainwright will toe the rubber. Hopefully the bats come alive and make some noise.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

well i decided to take on the Twins this year after hearing of all the carry over issues and TSN being rebooted and my Marlins thread being deleted after two years of back to back world series victories.

I had started on All star but gotten extremely frustrated and went to Dynamic instead and have found a level of calm if you will.

i have them currently over .500 by a game i think.. haven't played in a couple of days... im about a week behind the real life schedule.. i am having fun with this team...

what will happen to this team is still up in the air. i have thought about moving players and stuff but have stuck to my guns and kept the team intact so far...

i want to thank Millenium for his franchise video that taught me about overalls verus all the other numbers inside the player... and how to approach each one...it has changed my thinking on how each player is to be used...

Could you post or send me the link to that video?? I have guys I just don't know how to implement into the roster. I feel I should be using higher overall players despite having a lower rated player doing better. Thanks in advanced!

Blue Jays are just 6-8 to start the year but Justin Smoak has been a machine as he already has 7 homers... rest of the team has a combined 8.

Cardinals extend winning streak to 2 with 1-0 win over the Rockies. Adam Wainwright pitched 7 solid innings striking out 6 and allowing 6 hits. He was pulled for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 7th and didn't get the decision.

Jonathan Broxton won his 2nd game of the year pitching just 1/3 of an inning in the 8th. Rosenthal got save number 14.

The bats were nowhere to be found but a Matt Holliday double followed by a Brandon Moss single and Randal Grichuk sac fly accounted for the only run of the game.

Next up its Michael Wacha going against Jorge De La Rosa.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Just finished May in my Mets franchise. I play every game, no QC, MoM only.

Finished the month with a 14-8 record (NL East is beating each other up - Nats 14-10, Marlins 12-12, Phillies 12-12, Braves are irrelevant). We've been a very streaky team. Started the year on a 6-game winning streak, after that we went 1-7 over our next 8 games (ending with a sweep by the hands of the Phillies). We then followed that up by sweeping Atlanta and going 7-1 for the last 8 games of the month.

Rotation has to become more consistent but I have a feeling they will become dominant very soon:
                  Harvey 1-0 1.45ERA 0.94WHIP 10.45K/9
                  deGrom 3-0 2.27ERA 1.33WHIP 11.37K/9
                  Syndergaard 2-2 3.81ERA 1.08WHIP 12.81K/9
Matz 1-3 4.57ERA 1.38WHIP 5.82K/9 (really want to see him step it up)
                  Wheeler 2-1 3.67ERA 0.96WHIP 8.67K/9

                  Familia is as dominant as ever - 9 saves in 9 tries, 14K in 9.2IP, 0ER 0.93WHIP

Offense has been an issue. We're hitting with power (as we're top 10 in HRs and SLUG) but that's IF we hit the ball. As a team our AVG is .234, bottom 5 in the league.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm 30 games in with the Marlins (just got through my 5 man pitching rotation.) Early on Martin Prado got hurt for a couple of months so I plugged Don Kelly in to the number 2 spot with not so great results. Marcell Ozuna also got hurt so I put Ichiro in his spot and moved Cole Gillespie up to DH.

What's killing me is I can't play with Giancarlo Stanton for the life of me. He's one of my favorite players and through the five games I've played I think I've hit with him once out of 20 something at bats for a base hit. He has 4 homers on the year compared to Justin Bour who is a monster with 7 HRs and I hit at least 2 or 3 of them myself. Anyone else feel like they struggle with Stanton? It's strange to me, although I haven't faced a left handed starter with him yet and he doesn't have great (60's) contact ratings against righties.

Stanton is very streaky. I play cpu-vs-cpu and in every season I play, I wonder if there is something wrong with his ratings. Then, he gets into some kind of rhythm and starts crushing everything! In a season I played in MLB The Show 13, he missed 2 months because of injury, came back in August and got so hot, he led the Fish to a Wild Card spot. I'm in May 2016 now and Yelich, Osuna, Bours, and even Hechavarria are having better years than Stanton, who only has 3 HR. But the Marlins are hanging with the Mets at the top of the NL East. But he will get hot...then look out.

Just sweep completed a 4 game sweep of the Cards with the Cubbies. We're 40-23 with a wins in a row. However we sit a 1/2 game back to the Brewers who are simply destroying everyone they face lately.

That streakiness led me to trading him one year in my Marlins franchise. He was hitting like .230 with hardly any power and I moved him to the Yankees.

I don't even remember who I got except for Profar, who did well but wanted $30 M so he walked. Stanton, meanwhile, is loving life at New Yankees Stadium.

Fortunately, we survived and don't miss him now that we signed Harper a couple offseasons later, but yeah, I sold my stock in him and probably shouldn't have.

Well Im 48 games into my first season with the Texas Rangers on MOM. I play 1 sim 4. Rangers are 22-26, 6.5 games out. Games is playing great. I use Nomo's beta slider set and am getting realistic results. My only concern is why does this game hate Yu Darvish. I have owned the Show every year since 2006 and every year since Darvish has been in the league he sucks. I guess the desighner hates the guy. He is currently 1-5 in my current season and thats a combo of played and simmed games, oh well. Josh Hamilton has had a resurrection for me hitting over 300, along with Beltre they are carrying the offense

Cardinals complete sweep of Rockies with 6-4 victory

Michael Wacha pitched well after sitting out a start due to a sprained ankle. Wacha went 7 innings allowing 2 runs in just 7 hits. He walked 3 while striking out 13. Wacha gave way in the 8th to Maness who proceeded to allow a 2 run homerun to Hundley making the game 6-4. Siegrist pitched the 8th while Rosenthal closed things out in the 9th.

Matt Holliday continues to swing a hot bat as he went 3 for 4 with a double. The best sight of the night was an Alex Rios sighting as he too went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Grichuk provided a 3 run homer and Johnny Peralta added his 9th of the season one batter later.

The Cardinals welcome the Diamondbacks to Busch for a 3 game weekend series. Mike Leake will look to provide the output that the Cardinals expected when they signed him this offseason in game 1 of the series.

So I have a question regarding "teaching" a player a new position. How would you guys go about doing that, the way I was thinking is having a minimum of games you have to play them in that position before you can edit them and put it as there secondary or primary position. Has anyone else done something like this or have a different way of doing it?
