Just a quick update right now. With about 17 games to go the Rays have just about locked up the AL East since they have a 16 game lead on everyone else. It would be almost impossible for someone to take the AL East but you can never say never. Desmond Jennings broke his shin on a slide into 2nd when he was steal and will be out for the reminder of the season.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Just a quick tip for anyone playing franchise and needing another bullpen arm!
In ST I signed a few of the lesser FAs to 1 year deals. I figured if I could get lucky on 1 it would be worth it. One of those guys was Vic Black. I think he was a 72 B or something with good Strikeout potential. He dominated for a month in AAA as a setup man so I brought him up in May. From May to the beginning of September (where I am on the calendar), he has 40 appearances with a 2.02 ERA and is 2nd in my bullpen in Ks behind Osuna. He has become one of my best setup men, especially when I need strikeouts. His rating has went from 72 to 81. I was lucky to have added a club option to his deal as well, which I will be exploiting for sure.
Just a heads up if anyone is looking for a solid bullpen guy. Put him in the minors and let his overall raise a bit then bring him up mid season for a K throwing machine!

Yankees Go Yard 7 Times in Historic Game For Mark Teixeria
Sexy Texy Hit HR #400 vs Joe Price
May 7th 2016 - The Yankees went yard a team tying record 7 times in one game vs the dreaded Boston Red Sox en-route to a 10-5 win in the Bronx. The Yankees are going for the sweep tonight as they sit just a 1.5 games out of first place from the Orioles in the AL East. A-Rod and McCann both went yard 2 times a piece and Chase Headly, and Carlos Beltran also hit solo shots. It was an historic day for Mark Teixeira has he launched his 400th career HR. The presentation elements of this historic HR were a great touch as well (tip of the cap to SCEA SD for that).
After a rough start the Bronx Bombers have reeled off 5 straight wins now and the bats have come alive.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 05-09-2016, 11:58 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
I'm currently doing a franchise with the Phillies and Red Sox, but playing every game is going to take forever. I'm eventually going to choose just one and roll with them. My question is, has anyone done the first off-season with either of the teams? How was it? I'm assuming the Phillies will be very involved seeing as they have almost no one under contract for next season and the Red Sox may end up being strapped for cash with those big contracts. Thoughts or suggestions?#LFC

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Good luck! Yea I usually go after a few guys during ST. Usually a veteran, lower rated B or high C and maybe a bounce back candidate with decent potential. This year I went with Nathan, Black and some dude named Radhame Liz or something lol. Nathan is still getting destroyed in AAA, Liz is still in AA as a long man and didn't progress. Black is my setup man now rated 81 and has been amazing for me this season. Hope he works out for you. If you need help right away maybe sign black and let him develop for a month or so and sign a veteran to hold the fort for a month or so!Comment

Martinez to 4-0! Cards win 2-1
Carlos Martinez stayed perfect on the year as he upped his record to 4-0 on the season, as the Cardinals beat the Nationals 2-1 in Washington. Martinez pitched 6 innings allowing 1 run on 7 hits. He only struck out 2 and walked 3. So its safe to say that Martinez did not have his best stuff. Siegrist, Walden each pitched an inning for the hold and Rosenthal shut the down in the 9th fanning 2 as he recorded his 18th save of the season.
Matt Holliday was the lone bright spot for the Cardinals offense as he went 2-3 with 2 RBI. He extended his hitting streak to 14 games this year. This is the second time this season that Holliday has had a hitting streak of 12 games or more.
The Cardinals will face off with the Nats again on Saturday as Adam Wainwright will toe the rubber against Joe Ross.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It's crazy but the real life Chicago Cubs are making this game unrealistic. I'm 15-10 so far. Unacceptable. Ha.
I feel like I need to turn the game on beginner every time Arrieta takes the mound.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Decided to officially start my franchise. I don't like playing with my favorite team (the Astros) because I feel like I know the guys too well. There are really no surprises and I end up doing the same exact thing every time.
So i decided to go with another team... the Oakland A's. I know very little about them, but I love their all white uniforms, and I always kind of liked them.
I only got to play Game 1 (against the White Sox) tonight and then simulate 5. We won 4-1 with back-to-back home runs by Khris Davis and Danny Valencia. Sonny Gray went 7 innings with 10 K's. Ryan Madson got the save.
In the 5 simulated games, we went 4-1. So we're off to a 5-1 start. I'll continue as soon as I can.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
September call ups:
The blue Jays are coming off of a sweep of the Orioles entering into a key series against the Red Sox. The Jays and Sox are now tied for first in the AL east. Who would have thought this last month! The first game saw the Jays closer, Storen blow a 5-2 lead in the 9th to lose 6-5 walk off style when Hanley Ramirez hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th. The Jays would come back in a vengeance in game 2 taking it 10-2 after roughing up a rookie starter. New September call up Jesus Montero got the party started with a deep solo shot off the lefty. Also hitting homers were Bautista, Encarnacion, and 2 for Donaldson.
The Jays got a scare when Tulo went down with a shoulder injury after diving for a ball up the middle. He will only miss 1-6 days however, which is lucky for Toronto. A mix of Andy Burns, Zachary Walters and Ryan Goins will replace him while he rests. Here are the rest of the call ups and honourable mentions:
1) Zach Walters - can play any position but CF and C and provided good power while Devon Travis was injured. Was acquired from the Indians in the DJ Davis deal. He continued his power hitting in AAA.
2) Jesus Montero - 1B/C - after being claimed from the Ms be had a short stay in Toronto hitting .194 with a homer before getting sent to AAA and getting injured for 2 months. Good power and contact vs lefties.
3) Ryan Rua - acquired from Texas in the Dickey deal he played a bench role early, struggling with a .178 average. Can play 3B, 1b, RF and LF.
4) Jose Fernandez - can play 2b/3b. Signed early in the season he has raked in AAA with a .302 average. He has only hit .045 in the MLB this season.
5) Andy Burns - can play any Infield position for Toronto atm. Good year in AAA batting .289.
6) Ike Davis - acquired from Texas in the Miguel Gonzalez deal. Hit .276 with 12 homers in AAA this year.
7) Chi Chi Gonzalez - SP. acquired in the Dickey deal he had a strong showing in AAA with a 3.19 ERA. The Jays will likely look to sneak a start in sometime in September for him.
8) Clinton Hollon - started in AA where he dominated. Moved to AAA and the results were the same. 2.19 ERA as a starter. He pitched in the Redsox blowout bad had 1.1 innings of scoreless ball. Will come out of the bullpen. Maybe he gets a start as well if things go to plan.
9) Wesley Wright - reliever. Was claimed off of waivers early in the year and enjoyed success as the setup man in AAA.
10) Carlos Contraras - also a waiver claim early in the season. Served as the closer for AAA and had 29 save with a 1.18 ERA. Safe to say he deserved a shot.
11) Kyle Crockett - reliever. Also acquired in the DJ Davis deal from Cleveland in ST. Dominated AA and had respectable numbers in a month of AAA ball.
12) Tony Sanchez - catcher. Was the backup early in the year but struggled and was sent down when Susac was acquired. Hit well in AAA.
Honourable mentions:
1) Anthony Alford - was hitting .297 in AAA. The Jays decided to leave him down for a few playoff games. Michael Bourne will be back in 8 days and there will be no need for Alford. However, Saunders will have a timeline in 2 days. If it is likely he misses the playoffs the Jays could move him to the 60 day DL to make room for another call up.
2) Michael Bourne - will be back from injury in 9 days. ChArlie Blackmon will be back in 17 days.
3) Gavin Floyd and Roberto Hernandez. They were putting up similar numbers to Chi Chi and Hollon but the team decided to go with the young guys to give them a look. Both Floyd and Hernandez were removed from the 40 man roster to make room for others.
4) Buddy Dragmire - also removed from the 40 man roster. He lost out to Contraras, Wright and Crockett as RP call ups as he struggled on the year.
5) John Harris - starter. Had a great year In AA. Struggling a bit in AAA and will be likely given a shot to compete next year. He will start for the Bisons in the Playoffs.
6) Tony Gwynn - was a minor league signing. Was expected to provide speed in September, but the emergence of Smith Jr on the basepaths put a stop to that.
- also not called up: Junior Lake, Ezequiel Carrera, Alex Dickerson, Elliot Johnson, Andres Blanco.
The Jays will look to win the series against Boston and take over first in the AL East for the first time this year. Maybe the call ups will have an impact!
Stay Tuned!

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
I'm new to the community here, as this is my first next-gen Show game, but my first season so far has been too good not to share. I started a D-backs franchise (using OSFM, A&S sliders) because I'm an NL guy and my hometown Reds are terrible, plus I really liked their roster/uniforms/stadium.
Anyways I started playing a game in every series, rotating pitchers. We scuffled out of the gate and hovered around .500 until June, when we began to creep up on the Dodgers in the West. Once it became seen that we could challenge for the playoffs, we made some minor roster moves to push forward. We traded for Kole Calhoun, Tony Sipp, Joe Kelly, and Drew Stubbs. This addressed outfield depth issues, left-handed bullpen help, and solidifying the 5-spot in my rotation without giving up anything too major. Many starters also saw time on the 60-day DL, including Peralta, Lamb, Castillo, and Segura. Our team was built around timely hitting and top-notch pitching, 2nd to the Mets in K's and 5th in ERA.
As a college student with a love for baseball, smoking, and afternoon classes, I found enough time to bust through a season pretty quickly by playing 2ish games per day. I kinda got hooked on relaxing and playing a couple games at the end of the day. Anyways as the season was wearing down the wild card was tight. 4 teams (Pirates, Cardinals, Mets, and my D-backs) were within three games of each other all through September and it came down to the last day of the season. We clinched on the last day and tied with the Pirates, so the goal of making the postseason was accomplished.
So Greinke comes out in the Wild Card game dealing on the road, throwing 8 innings and giving up 1 while striking out 10. The game goes into extras tied 1-1, and with 2 outs in the top of the 11th and a runner on third, Oscar Hernandez hits a grounder to short. Mercer throws the ball into right field, the go-ahead run scores, Ziegler shuts it down in the bottom half, and we're going to the NLDS after winning 2-1.
We go into the NLDS against the Dodgers. They whooped us all year and beat us by 6 games in the division. Kershaw locks me down in game 1 and Shelby Miller gives up a million runs in game 2 so now I'm going home facing elimination. Greinke wins game 3 and Kole Calhoun hits 3 homers in game 4, so we go back to LA to face Kershaw in the big game 5. Patrick Corbin ends up throwing a 3-hit shutout and we won 2-0, completing the comeback and setting us up with the Nationals for the NLCS. This all just happened so seeing how the rest of this season turns out will be interesting, as I'll probably start my series with Washington tomorrow.
Sorry if that was a bit wordy but I've loved this game and had an amazing experience with franchiseComment

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Finally got my Twins franchise started and I'm 12 games in (4-8). I'm 1-3 in my play games as I will pick one game each series to play. I started 0-3 in my play games behind horrible offense. I found my swing against the Angels as I hit four HR's (Murphy/Sano/Park/Buxton) in a 8-6 victory. It was the 1st HR of the season for each player.
Tyler Duffy, my #5 SP, is now 2-0 after that game. I don't know the stats off the top of my head but I'm pretty sure Brian Dozier is hitting really well as is Eddie Rosario. I know Dozier has at least 4 HR already. Perkins is struggling as my closer but he is 3-3 in saves with like a 9.00 ERA.
I'm just happy to be back playing after some time away. Excited for what the future holds with this team. It's apparent I'm not winning anything any time soon though.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Super early so we'll see what I do once the ASB comes around. I am not sure what their current contracts look like. But yea any veteran player who can be unloaded for a prospect or two come later this year...I'm going to explore those options.
I'll probably call up Berrios soon like they did IRL.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
