I don't think you can. Have to wait until offseason. If he's on renewal years, you can try to offer him higher/what he wants and he might take it. Otherwise, nope.

My ace is the same way, he's on arbitration years and the salary given by the arbitrator is still below what he wants (he wants $30 M, basically). Nothing I can do until offseason when I *gulp* try to extend him. Already lost Jose Fernandez. If I lose Boeve, I'll die a little inside lol.

Lol I feel you man, I signed Correa for pretty "cheap" (like 9-10 mil a year lol) through his arb years and now he's wanting like 25 mil. I traded for Christian Vazquez, and is from Puerto Rico which helped the Compatriot attribute thing go up so that helped some.
But thanks for the answer! I wish they would let you edit the contract and maybe in the future add in where you can extend players mid season

in your guys' franchises, how are you seeing the 3 different OSD packages working out?
ive only seen two of them over the first twenty games.
is there a rhyme or reason to them?
        thanks

          BREAKING CARDINAL NEWS

The Cardinals have traded Lance Lynn to the Red Sox for Brock Holt

The Cardinals have traded RHP Lance Lynn to the Boston Red Sox for 2B Brock Holt. According to John Mozeliak Lance Lynn has been upset with his role on the team and felt as though he should be in the starting rotation and not in the bullpen. Mozeliak stated that he and the Red Sox had multiple discussions in regards to the trading of Lynn, but just now found a deal that worked for both parties. Lynn will most likely head to the Sox bullpen and Brock Holt will platoon with Jeremy Hazelbaker in right field as the Cardinals await the return of Stephen Piscotty from the DL for a fractured wrist.

The Cardinals have Designated Alex Rios for Assignment

The Cardinals have designated Alex Rios for assignment as part of a few roster moves made in the trade for Brock Holt. Holt will take Rios' spot on the 25 man and 40 man roster. The Cardinals now have 10 days to either trade, release, or outright Rios to Memphis. It is expected that the Cardinals will try to trade Rios in the 10 days and if that fails they will grant him his outright release.

I started the beginning of spring training and I am half way through September. I try to play 1 game each night after work before dinner and on weekends I am for a series or 2 (depending on the fiancées work schedule)

I play one game per series and love the method. It keeps me engaged with the flow of the season, lets me get into the roster for that year, and allows me to move at a reasonable pace through enough seasons to make the franchise experience really mean something.

Every now and again I'll play a full series, and of course, I play all the games if I make the post-season.

I also typically will play half the Spring Training games to get a look at guys in positional battles or on the roster bubble.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm playing one game a series and I'm sitting at 9-19 with Minnesota in early May. I do pretty poorly when I play and the team does poorly when I sim! The talent just isn't there.

                      Lineup:
                      2B Dozier - .224/.331/.421 with 6 HR 13 RBI
                      SS Escobar - .309/.343/.521 with 5 HR 11 RBI
                      1B Mauer - .248/.315/.317 with 1 HR 3 RBI
                      RF Sano - .165/.235/.231 with 1 HR 7 RBI
                      3B Plouffe - .255/.295/.406 with 4 HR 10 RBI
                      DH Park - .180/.215/.247 with 1 HR 6 RBI
                      LF Rosario - .277/.319/.530 with 5 HR 16 RBI
                      C Suzuki - .167/.244/.269 with 2 HR 5 RBI
                      CF Buxton - .272/.306/.383 with 2 HR 8 RBI

Obviously the key guys (Mauer/Sano/Park) are absolutely sucking. I'm going to benching Suzuki for John Ryan Murphy who is hitting .435 in 23 AB's. Murphy deserves a shot. I have to hope that my key guys can turn it around so we're competitive.

My staff is struggling as well:

                      SP Santana - 1-4 with a 6.14 ERA and 1.53 WHIP
                      SP Hughes - 1-2 with a 2.91 ERA and 1.56 WHIP
                      SP Duffey - 2-2 with a 5.93 ERA and 1.68 WHIP
                      SP Nolasco - 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA and 1.70 WHIP
                      SP Gibson - 0-5 with a 6.25 ERA and 1.86 WHIP

Gibson was just demoted to AAA and we called up #1 Twins prospect Jose Berrios. Really hoping he can progress rapidly and become a solid starter for me. I'm sure he'll have up and downs. In the pen CL Glen Perkins is having a rough go...0-2 with a 5.73 ERA and 1.91 WHIP. I might look for some power arms in the farm system to get the call up in the near future if we continue to struggle.

It's still a blast. Looking forward to trying to develop the Twins into a contender. Going to be one hell of a challenge.

I just caught up to real life with my MoM Mets franchise. Through 34 games (in both my franchise and real life), our team looks like this:

                        Franchise Mets
                        21-13 - 135 RS - 96 RA - 41HR - .235AVG - .307OBP - 2.72ERA - 322K - 93BB

                        Real Life Mets
                        21-13 - 143 RS - 103 RA - 51HR - .237AVG - .319OBP - 2.86ERA - 303K - 73BB

when I was putting the numbers in, I was beyond shocked how damn near exact my franchise is to real life lol.

Almost to the All Star Break in my Cubs franchise. Currently sitting at 51-35 which puts me in 2nd place in the NL Central 9.5 games behind the surging Cards. Right now I am #2 in the Wild Card race as well.

Made a series of moves and acquired Drew Smyly, Desmond Jennings and Alex Cobb from the Rays. Also added Gregor Blanco from the Giants for OF depth. (For trades I only use the trade finder).

This is what it's looking like so far.

                          Lineup
CF Dexter Fowler .257/.328/.442 13 HR 38 RBI

I've gone through the rotation twice with the Astros so I've played 10 games. Currently we're 33-27 and just 3 games back in the division. I've only really made one roster change. Tyler White was starting at 1st and he was struggling and I noticed that at some point Marwin Gonzalez was inserted into the lineup. He's been having a much better season and since he's a switch hitter I decided to run with it with him at 1st. The issue was White wasn't happy sitting on the bench, so I decided to move him to AAA and send up Jon Singleton to give me another left handed hitter who's also more content with sitting on the bench.

I just finished the regular season in my Dodgers franchise. The team went 100-62 and won the West.

I'll post the stats for my starting lineup and rotation, as well as some player highlights.

                              CF Pederson .262 29 HR 71 RBI
                              3B Hernandez .295 14 HR 54 RBI
                              RF Puig: .266 24 HR 83 RBI
                              1B Gonzalez: .312 23 HR 104 RBI
                              SS Seager: .279 26 HR 82 RBI
                              C Ellis: .224 4 HR 21 RBI
                              LF Crawford: .269 4 HR 25 RBI
                              P
                              2B Kendrick: .246 8 HR 40 RBI

                              Kershaw: 15-8 2.13 ERA
                              Kazmir: 12-8 2.64 ERA
                              McCarthy: 10-6 2.76 ERA
                              Ryu: 14-6 3.43 ERA
                              Maeda: 13-5 2.90 ERA

                              Jansen: 49 SV 2.02 ERA

I suffered long-term injuries to Turner at 3B and Grandal at C. Both were having sub-par years.

Pederson, Crawford, and Kendrick all had terrible first halves and I contemplated moving on at 2B and LF, but I decided to be patient. Pederson and Crawford wound up having great all-around seasons as a result, and Kendrick played his way into a hot streak to start the playoffs.

I also got an incredible performance from Kike, who was my super sub all over the field, and who ultimately helped carry the offense in Turner's absence. He outplayed Turner in the field and at the plate and will go into next year as a starter somewhere.

Nice work, your rotation definitely pinned that 100 win season for you. But some solid contributions at the plate in your lineup.

What was your run differential in the end, would be interested to see for a 100-win team.

And good luck vs the Mets, a tough Division series to face straight up!
