I'm trying to rebuild the Braves, what are some moves ya'll would make? Calls ups, send downs, trades, free agency, etc. I'm using the exact 25 man roster in real life and basically the same exact lineups. Not a lot to work with here except some great prospects.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
End of June: Rockies Franchise
Finally got around to playing enough games to finish June. At the end of May, if you remember, my Rockies were in 1st place in the NL West. It's been an extremely close 3 team race. But here are the standings through June:
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"></head><body><table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" class="osdyn" width="425"><tr class="masthead_alt"><td bgcolor="#000405" colspan="6"><span style="color:#FFF">MLB Standings - Updated: Jul 1, 2016</span></td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="45%">NL WEST</td><td align="right" width="11%">W</td><td align="right" width="11%">L</td><td align="right" width="11%">GB</td><td align="right" width="11%">RS</td><td align="right" width="11%">RA</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>San Francisco Giants</td><td align="right">46</td><td align="right">35</td><td align="right" class="active">-</td><td align="right">270</td><td align="right">244</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Los Angeles Dodgers</td><td align="right">45</td><td align="right">36</td><td align="right" class="active">1.0</td><td align="right">311</td><td align="right">266</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Colorado Rockies</td><td align="right">43</td><td align="right">35</td><td align="right" class="active">1.5</td><td align="right">313</td><td align="right">309</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>San Diego Padres</td><td align="right">34</td><td align="right">45</td><td align="right" class="active">11.0</td><td align="right">257</td><td align="right">314</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Arizona Diamondbacks</td><td align="right">34</td><td align="right">47</td><td align="right" class="active">12.0</td><td align="right">303</td><td align="right">330</td></tr></table></body></html>
1.5 games behind first place now. We have two big series coming up against the Dodgers and the Giants to try to move into better position, so that should help shape the race up a little bit.
The hitters have pretty much stayed around the same they were at the end of May, but the pitchers have regressed a little, which was to be expected. Ottavino is steal dealing out of the pen, and Jake McGee has been a very consistent closer, with 31 saves. The starting rotation is where the regression has mainly taken place. Here are the stats:

Jon Gray has been a steady force for the rotation so far. German Marquez is still putting up very solid numbers. The rest of the rotation (Lyles, De La Rosa, and Chatwood) have begun falling back down to average. In the pen, Boone Logan has been great. After his great start, Miguel Castro has dropped back down to Earth, but he's still a very solid 7th inning guy. Chad Qualls has looked like you would expect Chad Qualls to look. Pretty mediocre.
Word on the street is, the Rockies are looking to beef up their rotation by making a move. They need that extra guy that they can count on to go late into ball games. They are also looking to add an outfielder that can hit left handed pitching. Gerardo Parra has been excellent so far this season, but he is hitting .165 against left handed pitchers. They tried to give Raimel Tapia a shot to see if he can man that spot in the order, but in 49 AB's so far, he has a .163 average. That's not going to cut it.
We'll see what July holds in store for this team. The playoff race should be an exciting one.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
I was playing the rubber match against the Tigers. Kinsler, Upton, V. Martinez, J. Martinez, Aviles all hit home runs against me. The Tigers had a 8-3 lead going into the bottom of the 8th inning Feliz had been in the past 2 innings he had given up 1 home run but the damage was done by Fiers who just was terrible in this game.
Anyways, bottom of the 8th. Springer grounded out, Correa got on with a line drive single, 1 out. Tucker gets a double and the center fielder should have been charged an error I think but he bobbled the ball allowing Correa to go from 1st to home. Now 8-4 runner on 2nd.
Verlander (Pitch count I think around 110) is taken out Alex Wilson is brought into get them out of potential trouble. Tyler White gets a single into right field. Tucker had to wait for the ball to drop so only made it to 3rd. Now Rasmus at bat he is walked to load the bases with only 1 out 8-4 score.
Gonzalez up to bat and puts up a great at bat and walks home a run now 8-5 bases still loaded. Now Mark Lowe in to get them out of the jam and Jason Castro batting. Castro hits a grand slam to right field. 9-8 game. Top of the 9th Castellanos popped out, Maybin Struck out and Aviles struck out by Luke Gregerson.
I swear this was the most insane game I have ever had just an amazing comeback effort. I had mentally checked out going into the bottom of the 8th then things just started happening and we ended up winning the game. Brings us to 11-2 on the season.
With the few tweaks I have made to armor and sword sliders I love them I get great stats.
This game was just great for me though. I often get frustrated even if I just give up 1 run to be down by 4 I thought it was over.
Anyways some stat updates:
Altuve has gone ice cold only two hits in his last 6 games. I just cant get hits with him I dont know what happened. Im just hoping its a very bad cold streak like Correa had but this is 2 series now where he has really struggled. his average is down to .224 .
Correa on the other hand has turned white hot. Up to 2 HR's on the season 12 RBI's and a .468 batting average just insane stats from him. He obviously will cool off and has already batting I think only .275 in his last few games but still.
Was really worried about Springer coming into the season he was not playing well at all was batting below .200 through the first 3 series of the season but since then he has gotten hot and is now batting .262 Still no home runs for him on the year but Im sure that will change.
Gomez is finally back but I dont know who I will send down. Probably Tony Kemp he just hasn't played very well at the MLB level. Was supposed to only be temporary anyways but was hoping things would work for him. Tyler White is doing OK and is basically just the backup 1st basemen.
Matt Duffy will likely be sent down very soon, he just doesnt see playing time. Only 9 AB's through the first 13 games of the season, I feel like there are better guys I want to have, better utility.
Gattis came back during the KC series (Basically following the Astros real injuries) and has played very well at the backup Catcher/Outfield role. In only 11 AB's he has 2 home runs.
McCullers will be back during the Boston series and either Feldman or Fiers will be sent down."Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!"

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
I'm now at June 3rd in my 30 team control Yankees franchise using the play one a series method. I believe the last time I posted an update for my franchise was when I was at May 9. I was originally thinking I would post an update for it every months worth of games but might post an update every 2 weeks worth of games. Updates would likely be shorter that way.
We are currently in third place in the division with a 29-24 record. Boston is in first at 34-21 with the Jays 3.0 games back of them with a 31-24 record. We are right behind the Jays, only a game back of them and 4 games behind the Red Sox. After that theirs a bit of a drop off in the AL East standings. The Orioles are 10 out of first with a 24-31 record and the Rays are in last with a 17-36 record and 16 games out of first. We and the Jays, and Sox have a nice gap between us and them but theirs plenty of time for things to change.
We are very close to the same in team ranking team average wise as we were when I last posted. We are still ranked a bad 29th with a 237 team average. The only team that's worse is the Rockies at 30th hitting 235. The Red Sox lead the league in team batting average with a solid 285 with only the Cardinals separating them from the Blue Jays. Bostons weakness is pitching with a 4.08 ERA which is good for 24th in the league. The Jays are 10th with a 3.34 ERA. We are 7th with a decent 3.13 team ERA. So far we can't compete with the Sox or Jays team average wise but we are superior to the Jays and Sox in pitching.
Not too much to say offensively, we still need improvement team average wise. Our best bat as far as average goes is Hicks with 84 AB's with a 298 average in a platoon role. Our best everyday player average wise is Ellsbury at 261. No one is really killing the ball right now. A-Rod is our HR leader with 15 with Tex behind him at 10. Ellsbury leads the team in stolen bases with 15 and no one even comes close to him their. Gardners closest at 6. Our only league leader is Pineda in fewest losses. As for the AAA squad, Parmlee's been tearing the cover off the ball as the starting DH. He has a 356 AVG with 26 RBI's and 7 HR's in 132 AB's. If he can sustain it for a good while I geuss I will have to find a way to get him on the MLB club for a bit somehow. If he can I'm not sure how I would do it unless an injury strikes Tex as I'm not going down a pitcher for him. I could demote Ackley for him but it would be a nice sized downgrade defensively and Parmlee can't man CF though I never use Ackley their. Parmlee can't man 2B either and I do play Ackley their once in a while. It will be a bit before I worry about that though. Swisher is also hitting well at 270 with 25 RBI's and 9 HR's in 189 AB's in AAA as the starting 1B. Aaron Judge is doing nicely too at 280 with 35 RBI's and 15 HR's with 182 AB's as the starting AAA RF. No one else that's worth noting except for maybe Sanchez who isn't doing quite as well as I would like at 219 with 18 RBI's and 6 HR's in 169 AB's.
Pitching wise Eovaldi is our best starter with a 2.17 ERA and a 7-1 win-loss record. I'm impressed with what I'm getting from him. Pineda's second best with a 3.54 ERA and a 3-0 record. CC's third best with a 2.57 ERA with a 4-2 record. Severino's fourth best with a 3.41 ERA with a 1-6 record. His record stinks but his ERA is decent which matters the most. And no I'm not forgetting Tanaka, he's actually the worst of the 5 in ERA at 3.72 with a 3-4 record. I'm hoping Severino improves as he progresses and as time goes by but Tanaka needs to improve quite a bit. A good bit of our season hinges on if Tanaka can pitch like the ace he's supposed to be and live up to the money he's making. If Tanaka can do it and if Eovaldi can continue his success it forms a nice 1-2 punch. Our 3 headed monster aka our big three aka BMC aka Betances, Miller, and Chapman have been pretty sharp. Nova's been as I thought, not bad but not too good or light's out good like our big 3. I had hopes after Pestano's first MLB outing on the major league roster that maybe, just maybe he could be pretty good himself and form a big 4 but those hopes are pretty much gone at this point. He hasn't been terrible but nowhere near the levels of our big 3. Shreve hasn't been all that good but he is basically a lock on the roster because he's a lefty pitcher unless he totally implodes and forces a demotion of himself. Only other bullpen lefty on the roster is Miller and there aren't any better alternatives in house. Called up Swarzak as he kept doing great in the AAA rotation to pitch in the pen for a bit. He only pitched twice so far. One outing was a a solid 0 run inning but the next outing was a 2 run inning. Mixed results so far. Might give him a spot start in the rotation as a test and how he does. Yates has been on the DL for a bit with a shoulder strain and he will be back in 1-2 weeks. Either Pestano or Swarzak will have to head down to AAA so Yates can have his spot in the MLB bullpen back. Which one will go down is TBD though.
No one stands out in the minor league rotations. Lindgren is looking nice at AA and Diego Moreno is dominating in the CP role at AAA but he's already 27. Late Bloomer? Possibly. Career minor leaguer? More likely in my opinion.
We went 9- 4 on May 10th through May 23rd. On the 24th we started a series against Toronto in the Bronx and lost 2 of 3. Then we went to Tampa to play the Rays at the Trop. I viewed that as a must win series because of how bad they were doing. I really wanted to take advantage of it and took game 1 but then lost the next 2 so they took 2 out of 3 from us. That was the 24th through the 29th. Then we began our latest series which was against Toronto except in their ballpark this time. We were able to get our revenge against them via sweep in the 3 game series which is huge even this early on in the year. Tanaka pitched great in game 1, throwing a strong 8 innings only allowing 1 in the 8th which we won 5-1. Now that's more like an ace. Hopefully a sign of good things to come for him. We are on June 3rd now. The 2nd was a off day. Next series is against Baltimore at Camden Yards. After that we come home for 2 series against LAA and the Tigers. I'm looking forward to being done playing division rivals for a while. No divisional games for the rest of June after the Orioles. I did the Draft which I will post the players I picked in a franchise update post of its own tomarrow. This franchise update is long enough as it is lol.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
I was just 6 innings deep into a game leading 4-1. Liriano had 8 Ks and was cruising. Stanton was 3 for 3 with a massive 3 run Bomb. As we are heading into the top of the 7th, the screen popped up that shows the game stats through 6 innings and the game froze! It wouldn't let me save or exit the game and I couldn't get off that one screen. I ended up having to turn the game off completely and restart and the game was reset like nothing ever happened and I had to start over.
Anyone ever experience this in offline play?Comment

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Hey guys. I was wondering something. I have MLB the show 15 and was considering a Show 16 purchase. I only play franchise mode so I was wondering if it's worth the purchase?
Thanks!

<table><td bgcolor=#004684>End of Regular Season - 2017</td></table>
A lot of stuff under this spoiler
SpoilerWas an exciting last couple weeks of the regular season. Took 2 of 3 from Washington to put us to 78-72. 3 games behind Detroit for 1st and 2nd place in the WC. We then swept Cleveland in 3 games. Unfortunately Detroit swept Chicago so we stayed 3 games back. But moved up to the 1st WC. 1 game ahead of LA. We followed that up by losing 2 of 3 to Oakland. Luckily Detroit continued to do the same losing 2 of 3 Cleveland. 82-74 at that point. 3 games back and heading into a series with the Tigers.
We won the 1st game 4-0 thanks to Mike Minor allowing just 4 base runners in 7.2 innings. We took the 2nd game 6-4. Before losing the last game of the series 8-4. Medlen was supposed to start that game. Was a bit sore pre game so Kennedy ended up going. Was going well before he gave up 5 in the 4th. Going into the final series of the year against the Twins. 2 games back and tied for the WC lead. 2.5 games ahead of the Yankees and Twins.
We won game the 1st game 2-0. Perez lead the way on offense driving in both of the runs. Detroit beat Chicago 3-1 so we were still 2 games back. We won game two 7-3. Mike Minor started the game on short rest. Went 6.2 innings giving up 2 ER. Morales hit 2 HR and drove in 4 runs. Detroit lost so we pulled to within 1 game heading into the last day of the season. And oh man was it an exciting game.
We opened up the 1st with 2 runs off of a Morales double. Then in the bottom half Vargas just lost it. 5 runs including 2 HR for the Twins. Score stayed there until the top of the 3rd when we cut the lead to 1 with a 2 run HR from Hosmer. Added 3 more in the 6th to take a 7-5 lead. But gave it right back up in the bottom half. Left Vargas in a bit to long and he ended up allowing 3 more run. 2 earned. Soria came in and and gave up another to make it 9-7 Minnesota. Top of the 8th Moustakas hits a solo shot to cut the lead to 1. Top of the 9th Phillips singles with one out. Bring in Terrance Gore to pinch run. Gore steals 2nd and 3rd. And Morales gets him home to tie it up at 9. Top of the 11th we take the lead thanks to a Morales HR and RBI single from Raul Mondesi. Bring in Wade Davis to close it out. Annnnd he gives up a solo shot to Joe Mauer to make it 11-10. Shut things down from there though as we finish off the sweep. Detroit loses to Chicago again so we go to game 163 to decide who wins the division.
Ventura gets the start against Daniel Norris. Not as entertaining of a game. Ventura gave up 4 runs in 7 innings on 4 hits and 6 walks. Took us until the 8th to get on the board with an RBI single from Hosmer and 2 run homer from Moose. Couldnt add any on to that as we lose 4-2. Detroit wins the Division at 88-75. We finish at 87-76. And head on to the WC game against the Angels.
Standings
Spoiler
Offense really stepped up this final month. Averaging 4.6 runs per game. Kendrys Morales had really been struggling entering the month with a .258 AVG. But man did he break out when we needed it. Last 28 games he is hitting .373/.412/.569 in 102 AB. His last 20 games is where he really got hot. Hitting .434/.469/.697 with 4 HR and 19 RBI. 3 of those HR happened in the last 3 games. He finishes the regular season at .278/.342/.444 with 21 HR and 94 RBI. Alex Gordon was struggling just as much if not more than Morales. On September 5th he had a .227 AVG. Since then he is hitting .369/.397/.560. He had a 17 game hit streak that came to an end in last game against Detroit. During the streak he hit .415/.441/.585. He finishes the season at .249/.337/.376 with 12 HR and a career high 76 walks. We were able to get the September call ups some play time. And a few guys really impressed. Raul Mondesi helped eased some concerns I had about losing Mondesi/Phillips. In 21 at bats he had 9 hits and a 2 HR game. Balbino Fuenmayor had 5 hits in 8 at bats with a HR. Jackson Yates (not really a September call up but came off the DL) in 37 at bats hit .378/.439/.568. 7 doubles and 10 RBI. Earned a spot on the post season roster.
Spoiler
I like where we are at with the offense heading into this WC game. Morales and Gordon playing well. Hosmer hitting well his last 10. Brandon Phillips and Cain doing what they have done all season.
The pitching was about the same as it had been all year. 4 runs per game. Had 14 games with 3 or less runs allowed. 5 more with 4 or less allowed. Best thing is we got our rotation for the post season. For the most part anyway. Mike Minor will start the WC game. If we win the ALDS will go Ventura. Medlen, Minor and Vargas. Yordano Ventura returned from his injury on the 15th and was spectacular. In a 1-0 win he went 8 innings with 6 hits and 7 K's. He followed that up by throwing a CGSO in his next start with 4 hits allowed, 1 walk and 8 K's. Gave up 7 ER in 17 innings in his last 2 starts against Detroit. He finishes with an 11-8 record, 3.40 ERA (lowest since 2014) and 156 K's in 156 innings. Mike Minor was our best starter in September. In 6 starts he went 5-0 with a 1.54 ERA. 16 walks to 27 K's. Kris Medlen was 2-2 with a 3.54 ERA in 5 starts. Vargas went 2-2 with a 4.86 ERA in 6 starts. Last 2 starts really inflate that. His ERA was 2.73 in the 4 starts before that. Wade Davis had his 4th straight year with a 1.10 or less ERA. And 0.94 or less WHIP. Bullpen as a whole was a little disappointing. Herrera had a 2.03 ERA and Daniel Hudson had a 2.44 ERA. Luke Hochevar had a 4.10 ERA. And Soria had a 3.77 ERA. Expected Hochevar to be in the 2's.
Spoiler
Like the hitting i feel good with the pitching heading into the post season. If i can get 6 innings and a lead from the starters before giving it over to Hudson, Herrer and Davis you have to expect a win. Vargas at 4 is a bit concerning. But i wont hesitate to pull him at the 1st sign of trouble.

Spoiler
Mike Minor vs Andrew Heaney (14-8, 3.17 ERA). Game is in KC. Winner advances to face the Astors. Would love to eliminate them after they beat us last year. We were 4-2 this year against the Angels. 2-1 at home. Should be a good game.Last edited by HozAndMoose; 06-08-2016, 10:13 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Well, the Rockies acquired their ace pitcher at the beginning of July. After much negotiation, the Rockies sent David Dahl, Dom Nunez, and Mike Nikorak to the A's for Sonny Gray.
And after three games in the clubhouse watching the team, he finally made his debut.
And what a debut it was!
Sonny Gray went 8 innings, giving up 2 ER, 5 hits, and 16 K's. The Rockies won 5-2!
After struggling in Oakland for most of the year (He had a 4.63 ERA and a 3-10 record while with the A's) he showed strong signs of the player the Rockies were hoping to get in the trade.
With the team currently at 2 games back in the NL West behind the Giants (currently hold the top wild card spot), they need Gray to be their leader in the rotation.
With performances like that, the excitement is rising in Colorado.Comment

I play franchise offline alot and i have to say it is worth the purchase. The additions to the mode work well. You get alot out of the mode this year.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Cardinals snapped a 2 game losing streak as we are getting ready to head to the All-Star break. We continue to lead the Central by 6 games over the Cubbies.
Biggest question mark going forward for July is what to do with Kolten Wong. I have kicked around the idea of trading him but haven't gotten any returns that I like. The biggest problem is that Wong has a bad contract for a guy hitting .228 and who has reached his potential.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
I play every inning of every game so I am approaching 100 games through the season. The Royals are sitting at 66-32, 12.5 games up on the White Sox, so they are well on their way to their third straight postseason. I have been fairly consistent with 4 of my starters, Volquez, Ventura, Medlen, and Young. I am still searching for my 5th starter, Ian Kennedy was moved to the bullpen and Mike Minor replaced him but has struggled the last couple of times out. The offense has been very consistent and balanced.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Here are the players I picked in the draft.
I took SP Josh Carrington. He's a right handed pitcher and is only 18. He is a B potential and his potential number is 80. He is definately a power pitcher, as he has 99 velocity. Hopefully he can harness his stuff and be able to control those hard pitches. He definately will need time to develope as he is only a 57 right now and none of his other ratings are good enough for the MLB level yet. Hoping he can turn into a nice rotation piece in a few years. Maybe a nice 2-3 rotation guy? Likely a 3 as I would likely have 2 better pitchers ahead of him unless he becomes better then it looks like he could right now. Can't wait till he is MLB ready.
Next player I took was CF Richie Barnes. He is 19 and is a switch hitter. He is a B potential and his exact potential number is 81. If he reaches his potential I'm geussing he will be a switch hitting version of Brett Gardner with a bit worse defense maybe. He has about the same speed as Gardner but lacks behind Gardner in everything else still. Of course Gardner is already a fully developed player though. He has a bit of pop of in his bat like Gardner but I think his main tools will be contact and speed. Hopefully his defense will end up close to Gardners current defense someday. I definately wouldn't mind a young version of Gardner with slightly worse defense. No secondary positions.
Next pick is SS Gregory Alfonzo. He is a 19 year old R/R Cuban player. His potential is only a C and the number is 75. His current OVR is 75 already. I really love his contact. His contact numbers are both 77 and he is definately a huge threat to steal when he gets on base which he should be able to do often based on that already nice contact he has. He has 91 speed, 80 stealing, 78 BR AGG. Of course he has very little power which is perfectly fine with that contact and speed. The problem wth him is defense. He has 71 fielding, 46 arm STR, 36 arm ACC, and 55 reaction. That's a killer. His defense really needs to improve some and I'm worried it will only improve very little or not at all. He has all the tools of a lead off hitter but not good defense. He is only 19 after all so theirs plenty of time to improve defensively. It will be an issue if his defense dosen't improve as he dosen't have the power to be a DH. So this is a guy who can join the MLB club as soon as next season and contribute. His MLB ETA actually said 2017. Who knows maybe he can be better on defense then the ratings suggest he can.
No secondary positions.
Next guy is SP Michael Norton. He is a right handed 20 year old. His potential is a C and the number is 78. His OVR is 69 right now. Based on how things look right now I'm thinking he can turn into a back of the rotation arm at best, maybe a mid, who knows.
Next player is SP Rodrigo Ornelas from Venezuela. He is older then the rest, at 22. He is a right hander. He is only a D potential and the number is 68. I think he will be at best a back of the rotation arm at the very best. Maybe not even that. Maybe just a long guy if he even cracks the major league roster. His OVR is 68.
The last player is 1B Randy Mojica. He is a 20 year old right handed hitter. He is a C potential 57 OVR. The number is 70. He has 77 contact against lefty's and 53 contact against righty's. He dosen't have much power nor speed and bad defense. He might be a bench player someday. More likely a career minor leaguer. He can LF and RF too.
Can't wait for the top 4 guys I mentioned to hit the majors (if none of them are busts of course). Should be fun. I luckily won't have to wait long at all for Alfonzo to be on the MLB roster. Just till next year probaly.Comment
