Well....getting back into this and the biggest news???
Manny Machado has agreed to a 9 year deal worth $190M with the San Diego Padres.
The Padres have some young talent and have made a splash in the market with Machado.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
We are a big softy as we just re-signed Matt Holliday to a 1 year deal worth $2M.
He's still got some bat left and can be used as a PH and to play sparingly at first base. With the movable parts we have in the infield, Gonzalez, DeJong, and Carpenter, signing Holliday won't be that big of a deal.
Now question is what we do with Aledmys Diaz. Do we move him to Memphis or do we trade him away?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
Down to the final day of the off-season. I'd be lying if I wasn't hesitant to complete it and shut the door on '16 and wait for '18 to drop.
'16 has been a hell of a ride. Hopefully '18 will provide me with as much fun and entertainment as '16.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

You now have to save it to 17 to get it to 18?“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Yes.
Once I close this out. I'll upload to '17 and start updating CAPS with the better create a player tools in '17. Then during Spring Training I'll touch them up using '18.
I also have to go through and re-add players who disappear due to not being in '17; Jose Fernandez, Yordano Ventura, Marco Gonzales, Tim Cooney, amongst others.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
I signed Machado in my Padres franchise as well. Didn't work out as I'm in 2023 and still haven't made the playoffs.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
I have officially started the process of adding in all the players that disappeared from '16 to '17. This is tedious to say the least. When I originally did this, while I remember the names changing, I don't remember the player likeness changing, but its doing that now.
And what's up with the eyes of CAPs in '17? Between the eyes and the inability to just pick a standard hair color and then get more thorough if wished, is annoying. Especially trying to match hair and facial hair color.
More guys lost than I thought. Wish I had 2 PS4's so i could hook up side by side and go thru team by team.
Oh well, I have about 3 weeks to work on this.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread
In 2023 in my Padres franchise. The last three years I've sold out to try to make the playoffs and haven't been successful. Made it to the ASB 2.5 games back in the division and in the 2nd WC spot. My team promptly went 4-12 after the break and on July 30th I'm 10.5 games back in the division and 8 games out of the WC.
So I had a firesale. Sent Manny Machado to the Royals for 2 A POT prospects. Sent Austin Meadows (who I traded for at the break last season) and a couple of prospects to the A's for 3 prospects. Traded Anderson Espinoza to the Braves for a couple of top 50 SP prospects. Traded my starting CF Travis Jankowski to the Marlins for a low minors B POT prospect. Traded James Paxton, who I signed as a FA 2 seasons ago, somewhere for prospects.
I essentially sent off any aging or expiring contracts of players that had good value to try to rebuild my farm system, which I had depleted over 3 seasons trying to make the playoffs. I've still got some talent, especially in my pitching staff, but gotta figure out what kind of roster will be successful.Comment
