    Ethier would work too.
    Yep 2 year 43+MM contract.

Nothing to do with me being a Rays fan, Pineda just doesn't have the value Odorizzi or Smyly has. The Cubs would never choose him given the choice of the three.

EDIT: Also a year in age difference is nothing to scoff it. The more important factor however is how long each player is under team control.
fWAR is significantly better than bWAR as I'm quite sure FIP is a better predictor of future RA9 than past RA9 (being that the same holds true for FIP vs past ERA). It's conceptually and demonstratively better than bWAR.

I would think park factors stabilize quickly. Recency should probably be weighted heavily.

      -----------------

They are all extremely similar pitchers.

      http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...6397&sort=15,d

They all strike out a good deal of batters (edge Smyly), all limit walks (big edge Pineda), all get above avg whiffs (big edge Pineda, Odo lags). Odo/Smyly get IFFB and Pineda doesn't really.

Odorizzi's fly balls probably have an above average launch angle, similar to Estrada/Young, so that's why he has the best RS/9 despite lagging behind in DIPS (high launch angle -> fewer HR/FB and he has the lowest rate of the pack in that department).

Pineda has the least lucky BABIP, LOB% and HR/FB in the group by what amounts to several standard deviations. He's had the least amount of innings for that to stabilize, which makes sense as to why these are so out of whack but is also an issue in and of itself (injury, but then again they're all injured).

This is a textbook case of why ERA is a **** stat. Even when you use RS/9 they get a lot closer. They're all above average pitchers who get strikeouts, limit walks to the extents they do, and get whiffs, but one of them has had **** balls in play luck over a smaller sample than the other two.

I'm rebuilding the Rays and I want to trade Kiermaier and Longoria. Which teams would be interested? I want MLB ready talent that hit for power. It's still before Spring Training so no stats to provide.

This last month has been much better as before that he was down to .231 with no homers lol. September he has found his stroke again. Obviously his playoff performance will have a better indicator of his value but what could I get for him In the offseason?

Also, I want to move Kevin Pillar. He is batting .262 with 4 homers, 19 RBI and 14 steals with his normal top defence. I have Alford and Dwight smith impressing and will likely go to them next year. As for 2b I will look to FA or use the hot Zack Walters full time.

I could deal both as a package or separate. I could also add guys like Jesse Chavez, JA Happ, or Drew Hutchinson for an upgrade. I would be looking for either a nice starter, good pen option or a bat upgrade (to replace Bautista or EE). If that isn't plausible I will just take some decent prospects to rebuild my farm.

This deal would be made during the offseason of course and there haven't been many deals this year so most rosters remain the same. I am looking to make 1 bigger deal or 2 smaller deals this offseason.

          Thanks!

Mentioned this a couple pages back and I think it was missed due to the debate. What could I get for Travis and Pillar either separate or together. Looking for MLB prospects who are 1-2 years away! Which teams would be fits for each player and what could they warrant in return (stats posted in original post).

Hate to bump or what not but I am done my season soon and are looking at options currently.

          Thanks

I am the Yankees in a 30 team control franchise using the OSFMv1.5 roster. I have some trade questions.

What would it take to get Kike Hernandez or Trayce Thompson from the Dodgers? I think I prefer Kike but I would be fine with getting either one.

What could I get back for Brett Gardner?

What could I get back for Carlos Beltran?

What could I get back for Chase Headley? I know getting rid of Headley without taking on another bad contract in return is unlikely but I thought it's worth asking. The most I would be willing to attach to him in order to get a team to take him without giving me back a bad contract in return is B potential SP Ian Clarkin. If that won't work I geuss I will have to keep Headley.

Gardner is the only one moving for anything of value. Headley is a **** contract. Beltran is nearly 40 years and hasn't produced that great of late.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

I'm nearing the trade deadline with the Red Sox on my franchise, and I'm looking to make a couple of trades to help with a deep run into the postseason. I'm currently 1 game behind the 1st place Rays, and need an impact bat in the outfield. Aside from Betts, the oufielders have really struggled to produce, I'll keep JBJ around purely for the defense at this point, but Young and Castillo have been hopeless.

This is probably too unrealistic, I know, but at 13 games behind do you think the Blue Jays would consider trading Bautista to the Red Sox. If his contract demands are as high as reported then they're probably not keeping him around once he fits FA. He's hitting .272 an has got 17Hrs on the year. What sort of price would i be looking at for a couple of months of Bautista, an A and a B prospect, like Devers + Kopech?

If not Bautista, then what other good impact outfielders would people suggest? I looked at Braun but with his contract I don't want to add that to the big deals of Sandoval, Porcello, Castillo.

2nd year of Phillies franchise and exploring ideas for moving Hellickson. We are 35-35 with 2 weeks left in June. He is by far the weak part of my rotation and I just can't get anything going with him. He is 2-6 with a 5.88 ERA and a WHIP of 1.54. I know he is not attractive with that stat line but the potential is there. I just don't think it's gonna happen in Philly.

Would like to get a veteran starter and decent LH reliever for the MLB bullpen in a deal if possible.

                  Any ideas?

I was literally about to post the same exact thing lol

I'm using the Phillies too and Hellickson is killing me. I was thinking about moving one of Jake Thompson, Mark Appel, or Zach Eflin up, but I would need to do something with Hellckson. He is the only starter in my rotation with an ERA over 3.5 (it's at 5.23 right now).

                      Waive him?

Hellickson with a ~6 ERA (assuming his peripherals are also bad) isn't worth anything.

General rule of thumb for trades: if a guy doing so poorly that you don't want him, nobody else does either.

Yeah, I figured that, but it seems really odd to waive a 28 year old, 80 overall pitcher.

He just turned 29 and is making 7 million dollars. Nobody's going to want a rental pitcher with a 5+ ERA.

80 overall or not (he shouldn't be near that) he's playing poorly and has no value, not even to you. It's either ride this one year out and throw him in a long relief role, or just cut ties altogether.

Take your pick of these items for Jeremy Hellickson with a 5+ ERA...

-1 package of Big League Chew

                            -1 bag of balls

                            -1 AAAA utiltyman

                            -1 low C "prospect"

There's been a rash of 'this guy's performing like *** and I don't want him anymore, what can I get?' proposals lately. The answer to that question is almost always nothing. If he's not good enough for your team, he's not good enough for the cpu. If you were the cpu, would you want him? What would you be willing to give up?

The previous time Hellickson got dealt (while younger and with better stats) was for Sam McWilliams, who was the #27 ranked prospect in the Phillies' system (so, a low C).

I think the disconnect here is that baseball front offices don't fire up MLB The Show to check a guy's overall before doing deals. Not trying to be sarcastic, but I feel that it's difficult for people to not use the OVR when it suits their case. It's very enticing.

I completely understand both of those. I know he's not worth much on the market, so I'll keep him and put him in the long relief spot hoping he can fill it well, similar to Scott Feldman in Houston.
