Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

So I'm doing an Angels franchise, and I would like a left fielder. I was thinking a player like Micheal Saunders or Melky Cabrera. I'm willing to give up a player like Alex Yarborough and Jett Bandy. This wouldn't be enough, so what else would I have to give up?

Don't really understand what the issue is here...for one WAR is a number, and its one of the few stats that are in the game that you can use to get a good picture of how well a player is performing overall

Must not be putting up that great of a WAR even with the 36/89/.279

WAR is the biggest part of "the numbers" and it's a lot more helpful to answer your question than RBIs so

As you guys know I am the Twins and I am looking for some bullpen help. Josh Fields is on the block and I was wondering, would a C or B prospect land him easily?

Mid or High C depending on how he is performing. High C only if he is dominant.

I figured that is all it would take as he is 31 years old. I like him because he would be a dominant arm and he still 2 years of ARB left. So far this season he is 1-0 0 ERA, 0.75 WHIP in 9 games.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

In terms of backup catchers, what is the price on Roberto Perez from Cleveland (72/C) and Tucker Barnhart (70/C) from the Reds. Both were placed on the trade block along with Butera (KC), Pena (Os), Bethancourt (SD) and Susac (SF). The bottom 4 I have no real interest in at the moment but just checked what it would cost for the 2 above.

For Barnhart I can get him for Andy Burns (64/B). He can play every position on the diamond except pitcher and catcher and is a young contact hitter with speed.

For Perez I can get him a little cheaper I think but not sure. I likely won't make any moves for a month or so just trying to scout what's available. I know it's a minor deal but I am not familiar with either player so not sure on their values. I can get stats later but only 6 games in so likely wouldn't matter

I have claimed David Ross off waivers from the Cubs and he is next is line if I need to dump Thole fast haha. Also have Ryan Lavarnaway and Tony Sanchez as depth pieces.

                  Thanks!

Mariners 2 GB back, they need a RF (Nori Aoki was out for the year) and a CP

                      Braves Get:
Kyle Lewis (1st Round Pick) - B Potential RF
Franklin Gutrierrez (to even the money out, batting .225, 12 HR's)

                      Mariners Get:
                      Nick Markakis
                      Arodys Vizcaino
Braxton Davidson (1ST RND Pick - 2014) - B Prospect RF, lower overall than Kyle Lewis

The braves can do much better else where. And that's not even taking the stats into affect.

Why would a rebuilding team give you a prospect for one slightly better while giving away Markakis (worth about 2 mid-high C depending on stats) and not to mention Vizcaino being worth 2 mid B's again without any stats to go on.

Just a bad trade. Braves are getting ripped off hard.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

Can I build a trade around Swihart for Javier Baez if Swihart is hitting a bit and Baez is not? I know people are down on Swihart but he was a top 10 prospect just last year and hitting reasonably for me. It's early, so WAR hasn't really had time to accumulate.

                          Swihart: .270/.333/.384/0.2
                          Baez: .190/.227/.349/-0.43

They're currently playing Baez at SS blocking Addison Russell who is mashing in limited ABs: .320/.433/.600/0.55

Montero is struggling behind the plate. Bryant and Schwarber mashing at 3b and LF respectively. Cubs 13-4 behind dominant starting & offense with relief struggling to maintain. Swihart+Tazawa fix a lot of their problems right now. Is Swihart+Tazawa+Devers too much? It definitely feels like it hurts me. Alternatively, I'm hitting like Piazza with Christian Vazquez and I'd give him up instead but it feels too gamey.

If the Cubs are 13-4, they really don't have problems to fix, lol. Also, it's way too early in the season for a move of this nature. Catchers are generally traded in the offseason as well. It takes time to acclimate to a new staff. Lots of issues with this one.

I'm more concerned with value than strict realism, as I agree an early trade is by itself not particularly likely.

Baez has way more upside than Swihart. What else are you sending to the Cubs?
