Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

I just finished my 2016 season with the Orioles and need to clear some space in the rotation for Dylan Bundy. Ubaldo Jimenez in real life has no value obviously but in my Franchise he went 18-6 with a 4.04 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in the regular season then 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in the postseason that also included 14.1 innings of 1 run ball in the World Series.

Can I get anything of value for him?

How does the following 2016-2017 offseason trade sound:

      Yankees receive:

      -- LHP Robbie Ray (9-10, 3.99 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 9.71 K/9, 3.12 BB/9, 4.20 WAR)
      -- UTL Chris Ownings (.205/.275/.325, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 6 SB, 0.29 WAR)

      Diamndbacks receive:

      -- SS Jorge Mateo
      -- SP Bryan Mitchell
      -- OF Jake Cave
      -- RP Chasen Shreve (2-1, 2.31 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 4.15 K/9, 1.85 BB/9, 0.73 WAR)

Logic for New York -- Acquire a young, cost controlled starter and a platoon partner for Didi Gregorius.

Logic for Arizona -- Acquire Baseball America's #19 prospect in the midseason Top 100, Mitchell can start or relieve, while Shreve has been very good out of the bullpen, Jake Cave could easily stick as a fourth outfielder with a tools-y upside.

Absolutely no way that the Yankees give Jorge Mateo for that little, especially when they had to add 3 other players.

And here I thought I was going to be told I was offering too little to ARI.

Just to clarify, what were you thinking in terms of a replacement? Someone with more upside like an Ian Clarkin? Or maybe someone with more experience like Luis Cessa?

What would a Miguel Cabrera trade to Boston look like? Not worried about contracts. But just the player aspect? No numbers, will be starting a carryover franchise with my tigers here shortly. So, money aside, what's the player value on him?

Also, is a Kinsler to SF for Panik and Heston deal realistic?

Contracts matter, especially when talking about Cabrera and the worst contract in baseball. He has 9 years and about 272M left on his contract. And he is getting 30 million in his 40-42 age seasons. Also he is already going to be 34 years old. He had the worst contract in the MLB. So maybe something like 2 of Devers/Kopech/Groome/Travis/Dubon and Sandoval to offset the money that would be going to the Red Sox in a trade for Cabrera. Or if you want no money and out of Cabrera's contract completely. Probably something Dubon/Travis/Chavis or any other lower top 10 prospect for our system.

And if we operate in a world where salaries don't exist it will cost a ton of prospect capital because a large portion of their value is surplus value because of their tiny salaries.

So with that said, IF we set all money aside, Moncada + Devers + Kopech + More.

I know he's getting older but you'd be trading for a surefire HOF guy who can be expected to be around 6 WAR per year going forward and the lack of contract wont be as hurtful when hes over 40 and washed up. (Washed up compared to peak MC)

You got my post. I agree with you about it costing that and I would Benintendi to those 3 for Cabrera if contracts didn't exist. I was just saying you HAVE to factor in Cabrera's contract and those of the guys getting traded back.

I was just thinking, contracts aside cause I'll be waiting til the first off season to trade him to Boston. Take over DH role left by Ortiz.

so.... there has been a big trade done in my Mariners Franchise and it is totally unbelievable and my team was not involved in it. but here it is:

To Dodgers: Carlos Correra, Dallas Keuchel

                          To Astros: Corey Seager
