I attempt to steal way too much.)

He's still locked up for two more years at $12.6M each, which I think is pretty reasonable for a guy who provides at the plate, in the field, and on the base paths, but he's expendable for me and I'd love to get some fresh blood on the mound if it's possible. Thoughts?
I think you could do a swap of Gardner for Bauer. CLE could move Naquin to RF.

DET, LAA, HOU, KC, MIN, SEA, TEX if they don't resign Desmond, NYM, WSH, CHC if Fowler signs elsewhere as a FA, STL. I think all of those teams could use a guy like Gardner at the top of their lineup. Especially for 2yrs and roughly $25MM

I know this thread is pretty much dead but I'm playing as the White Sox. I did some tweaking to my team and I'm looking for another OF. I'm trying to decide between

      LF Desmond Jennings/ Puig/ Ellisbury
      CF Desmond Jennings/ Jacoby Ellisbury
      RF Eaton

I also have Melky at DH. I'm just needing some input on how to do this or should I move Melky and do something. I'm just needing some suggestions on what is a better combo. Also if I moving Melky who should him too. Please don't ask about how I will get Puig. I did do some free agent moves with players I found.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

I'm in need of some left-handed pitching out of the bullpen. I'd really like one of the following:

Jake McGee from Colorado or Zach Britton from Baltimore.

As the Cubs does anyone have any ideas as to what it might take to get this done? As I've said multiple times, I'm willing to part with Jorge Soler and some prospects.

Rockies are willing to do Soler for McGee straight up. But I'm hoping to get some insight from someone that knows the Rockies better than I do as to whether or not this would be a realistic deal.

Keep in mind all things are relative as to each of our own "Show universes."

In my game I'm in 2017 and Soler had a great 2016. He hit 26 home runs, batted .280 and drove in 80 runs. However, his WAR was only 1.81. He's still only 25 and has a B potential. Lots of power that could be a benefit playing 81 games at Coors Field for sure.

Last season in 2016 Jake McGee recorded 34 saves and blew 6. He had a 2.98 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. His WAR was 0.44 and he struck out 56 batters over 57 1/3 innings while walking 28. He's 30-years old and has a B potential just like Soler.

To me it makes sense for the Rockies to do this deal as their outfield consists of Carlos Gonzalez (87 OVR), David Dahl (68 OVR) who's currently on the DL, Brandon Barnes (67 OVR), Rosell Herrera (65 OVR), and Gerardo Parra (83 OVR).

As I've typed this up, to be honest, I'm starting to think that the Rockies perhaps should give me a prospect in the deal. Ha.

Anyway, with that information in mind, and for someone that knows the Rockies organization a little, let me know what you think.

The only thing is then Rockies probably wouldn't move any pitching considering they need pitching in the worse way and have plenty of bats. Dahl is already a young A rated stud also

Like BygTonka said, the Rockies don't need more outfielders. They also have Tapia in addition to the ones you listed. Reliever WAR is always lower than their worth as I think this season in real life has shown they are valued above their WAR value.

And just to add clarity, Britton isn't getting traded for anything less than an Andrew Miller deal

Who's a left reliever that I should go after then? Obviously really looking to offload Soler.

If you wanted cheaper options I would go after JP Howell. Always does real well for me as a lefty out of the pen and is usually waived by the Dodgers in year 2 at the beginning of the season.

There are plenty of lefty options, I just think the problem is between your view of what Soler is worth, and his actual worth

Mike Dunn would be a nice option and he can be dominant at times. Remember even tho Solar is good you do have the Cubs so you can take a little less they're already dominate.

I am doing a blue jays franchise and was wondering what you guys think I would need to give up as the Blue jays to get Vizcaino from the Braves and Doolittle from the athletics. I realize that Jays just got grilli and benoit IRL but if I move them at the deadline as their ratings have dropped despite playing well with them both what could I get in return for them in terms of prospects? was also wondering if benoit and a 19 year old C prospect SP could net me Joakim Soria from the royals?

I don't disagree with that, but I think 24 home runs and 80 RBIs and a B-rated 25 year old player is worth slightly more than you believe.

There's more to a players value than dingers and RBI. Check out Fangraphs, plenty of the guys near the top of the HR totals have lower WAR than you would expect. An "average" regular will have a 2.0 WAR over a full season so you're trying to sell off an "average" player for a legit upgrade. That's the problem.

From the Rockies point of view. They just traded away Dickerson, an outfielder, for McGee. Why would they flip their plans and send off the pitcher for a position they just traded away.

Lots of people here only worry about how to make their own team better, when both teams want to improve in a trade. You have to give up value to get value.

Well, that's why I'm asking. I don't want to make trades that are unrealistic. From the responses it makes sense as to why the Rockies would not make the deal. Looks like I'll just hang on to Soler for now.

There are lefties you can get with Soler, and there are ace's and elite closers you can get as the Cubs. Britton, Chapman, Miller, etc could be Cubs (obviously see Chapman) but you have to give better talent. You could get any pitcher you wanted to be honest, but it would cost you a legit talent from the pool the Cubs have on the MLB Roster.

One match I like on paper would be Sean Doolittle. The A's like to buy low and have been a team to go for Cubans. I think Maybe a Doolittle for Soler with some minor league pieces could work pretty well
