Power like his doesn't grow on trees. Puig's value is at an all time low, Montas has injury issues and has already had a rib removed because of problems. Trace Thompson isn't a piece that gets people excited for an elite slugger.

You'd need to put Seager in there or one of De Leon/Urias. Maybe Seager and one of those pitchers to even get Miami to not slam the phone down on you.

And this is just for Stanton! Your original thought was phrased as if you wanted to get Stanton and Fernandez for 2nd tier assets. No way, Jose.
Does anyone not use the SEARCH BAR before posting deals for players that have been talked about in great detail. It truly comes back to it being your own game so you can do as you please (just don't ask then) but I feel bad for guys like WTNY and GCL having to repeat them selves over and over again about giving VALUE for top tier talent not just spare parts you don't want.

(not aimed at anyone just trying to make a point before this great thread just becomes something to laugh at looking at some trade ideas) non of us are GM's by any means but some post are just crazy.

That is why I said it is relatively early.

I mean how much VALUE did the Dodgers give up in the 2012 trade with the Red Sox besides salary relief? They got a perennial all star 1st baseman, and LF who single handedly won them an NLDS a few years ago... For Rubby De La Rosa, Allan Webster, Jerry Sands and no one else.

Except you're talking about one of the best young power hitters and one of the best young power pitchers and not a pair of 30 year olds.. Stanton is 26 and Fernandez is 23. Expect to pay the price of your farm.

Texas could offer Gallo, Profar, Mazara, Brinson, Tate and thats probably not even be enough.

Redsox where looking to get bad contracts off the books for a reboot. The Marlins don't need to trade any of these guys for the foreseeable future. Can't give away terds for gold sorry man.

EDIT: unless your in 2021-2026 the Marlins don't need cap relief

As far as the game goes, I think it's the players preference on who they want to move between Moncada & Benentendi. With the OSFM rosters you are pretty deep in depth at 2B & SS and very little in the outfield.

You're right about Rusney's contract, maybe sending Joe Kelly over would offset the salaries a little better so you do not hit your budget cap. And just to clarify I have went through and updated all player contracts.

Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster were top 100 prospects. Also the Dodgers took on 2 HORRENDOUS contracts. So that lessened the value that Red Sox were going to get for Gonzalez. If the Red Sox were going to just move Gonzalez it was going to be for top prospects like Gerrit Cole, Profar, Shelby Miller, the late Oscar Tavares (rip), Taillon, etc. would've been the headliner in the trade. Instead the decided to move Gonzalez alongside Josh Beckett and Carl Crawford. Both of those contracts were horrible at the time. That's why they gave up nothing for Gonzo.

I don't remember the exact injury but he was limited to 31 games in 2012. So he was injured that most of that season.

But if Puig was hitting .324 with 8 bombs and 23 RBis in mid May, like my franchise, he would be back to one of the most valuable contracts in the game. Plus he has a better arm and speed than Stanton. I feel like if he had hit that way this year, the trade wouldn't be such a ridiculous offer, since that idea was floated two years ago when Puig was a hot commodity

There is basically no scenario where your offer isn't considered ridiculous. It's your franchise so do as you wish but no one will sign off on this

I am the Tigers in my franchise, Both the Tigers and the Mariners are in the playoff hunt and I want a deal that gets me Lind and Clevenger, and the Mariners need pieces to improve their team as well. My package would start with Saltalamacchia to replace Clevenger and I want to know what else I'd need to give up. Any thoughts?

Just to add one last important point. The Marlins have the 29th highest payroll according to SportTrac. A team with a total payroll of $72 Million has no need for a salary dump.

Is Steve Clevenger actually an upgrade over Saltalamacchia? And if the M's are in the hunt they wouldn't trade Adam Lind

Trying to trade for Chris Archer as the Rangers. Near the trade deadline, Archer has a 2.3 ERA/2.6 FIP

Is this fair for both sides?
