Its mid June and the Cards are 3.5 games back of the Cubbies and leading the Wildcard race. I'm at work so I don't have all the numbers but Joe Smith is having a great year, under a 2 ERA for the scuffling Halos.

I don't think the Cards have any interest in trading Wong. They just gave him a 5 year extension that is on the cheap. Plus, if they are in the wild card hunt they wouldn't want to trade from the big league club for a bullpen arm. Teams in the postseason chase sell off prospects and big leaguers who aren't in their long term plans.

Could King Felix bring in a package of Mateo and Severino? Just spit balling things here.

Good point and thanks for the reply. Wong just had a bad morale and one of his negatives was wanting to be closer to home, and I believe he's from Hawaii, so I thought it was worth a shot. Would it change anything if the Angels threw in Giavotella to try and make up for Wong. I know he's probably not worth too much, just spitballing.

That's way too much. I don't think either one of those guys individually is worth Gallo by himself.

Lucroy (and Lucroy to Texas specifically) has been discussed ad nauseum if you want to check that out with the search function.

I don't have any stats, as I'm just about to start my franchise (with the Astros), but I was wondering what the overall value of Ender Inciarte and Yangervis Solarte would be. Anything the Astros could offer Atlanta and/or San Diego to get them ?

Inciarte has a higher value than the casual fan would think. He has 5 years of team control and is a 3+ WAR player going forward.

Maybe something like Kyle Tucker/Daz Cameron + Colin Moran

Solarte has a lower value, but the Padres need as much young talent as they can get.

Hi, I just started a franchise with the A's. My goal for this team is have a sick defense filled with players with high fielding. What are some A's players I could realistically trade for players with fielding rating above 85? I'm willing to trade pretty much every1 on the roster bar Sonny Gray
                  Thanks for the answers
                  My teams:

Soccer (It's football, not soccer!!): SL Benfica
Baseball: Oakland A's/ San Francisco Giants
                  Football: San Francisco 49ers

20 year old, B potential catcher. Texas has him behind Lucroy and a 23 year old A potential catcher. Would it be fair to send this package for him.

                    SP. 19yo. 73 ovr, 96 potential
SS. 20yo. 71ovr, 88 potential (all 3 OF as secondary positions)
                    Two C potential players.

I'm really not an expert around here, but it seems like an over-payment to me. 73 overall, 96 potential...at only 19. Isn't that a future Cy Young in the making in this game ?

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

The Houston Astros has a young shortstop with a rating in the high 60's and A potential. He's their only prospect with A potential and Carlos Correa is the same age/both of them only play SS, so this kid does me no good. I thought about packaging the young SS and Marin Gonzalez as well as prospect AJ Reed or Jon Singleton (both young B potential first basemen) for Greg Bird to platoon at 1st with Tyler White and RF Top 50 prospect Aaron Judge.

But the more I think about it, the less it makes sense. Tyler White is a young player with the same potential and similar ratings as Greg Bird. Is having the platoon player really worth it when I have 2 B potential left handed guys at 1st who will both be ready to platoon with White soon? I feel like I'd rather keep the homegrown guys and Marin Gonzalez is a solid bench guy that can play anywhere in the infield. George Springer is a young A potential right handed right fielder and that makes acquiring Aaron Judge redundant. Any ideas who I could get back for the A potential SS? I'd like at least one A potential guy back, try and really stack my prospects bc I don't really feel the Astros really need anybody who can play right now. At least not in the game. My left handed hitters are my weakest links and they're playing great in the game.

How is Matt Cain being valued these days?

Is there a world where the Yankees can eat Ellsbury's contract down to $80M overall, and then do a three team trade involving the Padres where:

NYY - Matt Cain, Melvin Upton Jr ($80M going out, $71M coming in)
SD - Jacoby Ellsbury, C-Level Prospect ($95M going out, $80M coming in)
SF - James Shields ($40M going out, $63M coming in)

                          Thoughts?

Interesting, that might be a price I would be willing to pay, as I value Inciarte very much.
Any other taker on this ?

I don't have the game on right now, so I'll check to see if I can propose a package of some sort for Solarte, and post it back here.

Defensive players decline quicker. I think Moran + another useful guy and maybe something else would be enough. Don't need any top 10 draft prospects. He's similar to a Kevin Pillar I'd say (not quite a Kiermaier).

I feel like that would be underpaying, at least game-wise. Moran is only a C in OSFM 2.5 (though I could probably bump him up to a B before I start my franchise) and eventhough Inciarte's defense remains his strong point, he still looks like a pretty decent contact hitter (89 vsR with 90 vision and 76 clutch).

Would Tucker straight up work ? Between the two, I'd rather hold on to Cameron, and with Gomez, Springer, Inciarte and Marisnick, I think I'd be okay in the outfield anyway.

                                ---

As for Solarte, would Jon Singleton be a good base, or is that too much (not sure what Singleton's value is nowadays). I like what White brings to the team right now, and with A.J. Reed being already very close to Singleton in terms of ratings, and 3-years younger, Singleton might never be able to make the my team.
