Well I ended up making a trade work

Nats get: Adrian Beltre, Nomar Mazara, Jurickson Profar
Rangers Get: Stephen Strasburg, Michael Taylor

Was giving up Mazara worth it or not?

I still don't think the Nats move him in Mid-May. And I need to know how many games back they are of the WC and division leaders.

Considering Strasburg becomes a free agent at the end of the year, giving them someone as valued as Mazara for only one guaranteed season is too much.

If that is what it took to basically get a Strasburg rental, I wouldn't pull the trigger.

Nats were at the time of the trade 13.5 back of the WC, and 16 back of the division (Bryce got hurt lol)

David Price went for Drew Smyly +. Jon Lester was traded for Cespedes. That's fair value for an ace caliber pitcher even if they are a rental. Teams pay through the nose for an ace. Also you have to realize he is moving a 37 year old Beltre in the deal, which I don't see adding much of any value (in the game). You have to give up something to get something.

            Edit:
I still don't think Beltre should be in this deal. The Nats don't have a need for a 3rd base, especially one who is 37. If they are moving Strasburg it's for prospects. They already have Anthony Rendon at 3rd.

I agree Beltre should not be included. Basing it off that, I would not give up that valuable of a piece in Mazara. I think Profar + is a good starting point. In my own franchise, I would not value a rental or a single season more than a 21 year old MLB ready outfielder with A potential.

While Price and Lester were traded for solid pieces, they carry less risk than Strasburg does with his injury history. And when Cespedes was traded he wasn't under years of team control like Mazara would be.

The fact is, I don't think its wise to throw away a prospect like Mazara for one season. Especially when there's a chance you can get Strasburg in free agency anyway.

That's fine, but then you can't get an Ace. Maybe switch Mazara for Brinson. Aces are expensive and difficult to obtain. A couple years ago Profar alone would be enough but there's enough question with his shoulder that it takes more.

I agree. It just depends on what he wants to do. I was just explaining why I wouldn't do it.

I'll probably run a Braves franchise this year (going with a rebuilding team this year) and I may possibly look to trade Freddie Freeman.

Any suggestions where I should go? I was thinking Houston as I could possibly get some of their young pitching and maybe Singleton as well. Thoughts?

This is all hypothetical I may just keep Freeman, but I'd like to see my options.

Houston has White, Gattis, Reed and Singleton. Wouldn't.

What do I have to add to Realmuto to get Lucroy+Villar from the Brewers?

Have any suggestions? I obviously would need pitching and a possible 1B replacement.

Boston, Cardinals, Pirates would be potential landing spots with Boston and Pittsburgh being most likely

I'm doing an Astros franchise, and I would absolutely give you Reed + for Freeman.

Reed is no sure thing, White's novelty will not last, and Singleton looks like a total flop in Houston.

If the Astros are serious about this being a window, (and it seems like they are) Freeman would be a great addition.
