A batter and pitcher each ranked 26-50 is worth $39 million in surplus value.

Freddie will make $115 million over the next 6 years. If he averages a 3.5 WAR over the life of the contract that would be 3.5x6x8(the value of 1 WAR) which end with $53 million in surplus value. So you could argue he is worth more than those two players.

Benintendi is too much but it's because he's underranked. The math seems good.

Just out of curiosity, what's the chance of a Justin Verlander trade happening? And if so, what is his perceived value?

Is he still someone that is considered a mid-to-top of the rotation arm? Or has he sunk into more of the bad contract realm?

Yea he has been great this year. I know it's only Single-A but like Moncada he should be moving up sometime this month. He has a triple slash of .366/.434/.634 so far. He's walked more than he's K'd 10:7. His wRC+ is 191 and BABIP of .373.

Been playing a lot of DD lately. I've absolutely fallen in love with Kike Hernandez, Dodgers OF/UT.

As the Astros, I would love to reacquire him. What would it cost?

To further this post, I'm more than willing to do a swap of MLB talent, whether that pitching or position players.

Rebuilding the Padres and am dealing Tyson Ross. He has s been lights out (10-9, 2.88 ERA) to the Yankees because they are in the hunt and need SP really bad. Is this trade fair?

Yankees get: Tyson Ross (28, 85 ovr, B)

                Padres get: RHP James Kaprelian (22, 70, B), 2B Rob Refsnyder (25, 71, C), and RHP Domingo Acevedo (22, 60, C)

I think that this is certainly fair but I think you could get more back for a guy like Ross. Especially considering the fact he's pitching so well in your franchise.

Need a trade that can help keep the runs coming in. I'm the Mets sitting at 46-22 looking to bring a nice stick and glove.

                    Looking at
                    Nick Markakis ( 32 78 B 10.5/yr 3yr left )
                    or

                    Yasiel Puig ( 25 86 B 6.5/yr 3yr left )

Really would love to get Puig but Markakis would be a last resort, so with that being said does a package of
                    Rafael Montero ( 25 72 B 680k/yr )
                    Juan Lagares ( 27 81 C 5.7/yr 5yr left )
                    Matt Reynolds ( 25 70 B RNW yr )

                    For Puig ?

If not what can get it done ? But then if not Puig what will it cost to grab Markakis !!!

Puig is a polarizing player, but mostly because of his off-field or character issues. As a player he has the MVP level physical tools. It would take a good deal more than a bullpen arm, a defense only 4th OF and a 45FV SS prospect.

To land Puig you are looking at one of the young SP (Matz or Wheeler) plus Dominic Smith and Gavin Cecchini. The math I used to get to this is... 3 years of Puig where his salary is a total of $19 million. Say he averages 3.5 WAR which may be low since we have already seen him go over 4 twice in his first 3 years. Which gets us 3.5x3x8=84-19.5 $64.5 Million in surplus value. Say Matz is the same as a pitcher from 11-25 in prospect ranks, that is worth $24.5, Smith is ranked 47th which is worth $20.3 and Cecchini is ranked 83rd which is worth $11.6. That all totals $56.4 but I wanted to leave some room since Matz has shown it in the MLB although a SSS I figured that is worth about a $10 million boost in his value.

All prospect rankings were from MLB.com and the surplus values were determined using http://www.thepointofpittsburgh.com/...urplus-values/

It should hurt to trade for a player of that magnitude.

You can just project Matz out and take off like 20% for injury risk, don't think you need to rank him like a prospect.

Thanks, I wasn't quite sure how to do young guys with under a year of service time, but not prospects anymore.

I would have to agree with everything you said and about Puig being able to be that MVP but he's had that one good year then just been average with glimpses of greatness.

As a true Met fan there's no way can I trade any of my pitchers (33,48,34,32,45) to follow what Sandy has done. So I guess Puig would be a no go since I won't be willing to part with any of my arms ( numbered above )

What's the price on Jay Bruce from the Reds or even trying to steal Carlos Gonzalez from the Rockies ??

I'm two months into my Cubs franchise and I was wondering what would be a fair deal for Daniel Norris and Justin Wilson from the Tigers? They both have ERAs over 5 right now. Also what would be a fair trade if I trade to get Matz or Syndergaard from the Mets? Both are pitching lights out. I assume for the latter I'd have to include a Soler/Baez/Schwarber. Thanks for any help!

Not sure what it would take to get anyone off the Tigers. But I can tell you that it would take a BIG PACKAGE OF TALENT to grab Thor or Matz. I don't see the Mets trading with the Cubs ( reasons trade talks broke down last year ) Mets can't trade one of those guys to another NL to be waxed a few times a year. But if you blow them away anything can happen.
