Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
At the moment we're very reliant on Cespedes and a couple of guys who aren't long term at all in Walker and Granderson. I'd like to be able to bring Walker back but he's going to be expensive, while Granderson is doing well but his ratings are in freefall and he's eating up a lot of money. David Wright is stinking out the place at 3B with a monster contract, so a long term replacement for him would be ideal, or a long term RF to ease out Granderson. I'm set at catcher, SS, LF and CF, while ok in the short term at 1B. I've got decent middle infield prospects and outfield prospects, but not a lot that is major league ready. We seriously lack speed and ability to hit left handed pitching.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
We're top of the division and looking strong for getting in the post season at a canter, mainly on the back of our starting pitching. Harvey has an ERA of about 1.5, DeGrom 2.2, Syndergaard 3.2, Matz 4.5, 5th starters combined for about 4. I'm looking to strengthen the batting lineup for this years post season, while also rejuvenating it in the long term as it's not looking pretty on that front.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Can't check till tomorrow because I'm away from my ps4, but I'd be a bit hesitant of another all or nothing lefty as I've got my fair share of them already with Duda, Conforto and Granderson, along with Nimmo and David Dahl in AAA, even Cespedes, Walker, Reyes and Cabrera all prefer RHP prety heavily. If we come up against a team like the Dodgers in the post season with their lefties, we're seriously underpowered.
I think I need to get another week or two into the season before all the teams readjust what their expectations are (playoff push/rebuilding) so I imagine what is possible will be a lot clearer after that, as there are some teams with interesting 3B/OF combinations depending on if they give up on their season or are trying to compete.
I'm more wondering would it be a wise or suicidal move to consider giving up an ace towards getting them? How much would an improved offense gain me in the post season compared to another ace?Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Or both, depending on who you give up.
It is a risk, but I wouldn't call it suicidal with the situation you described. It sounds like a reasonable risk/reward if you can make a deal that's sensible while being impacting enough."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
So we are at the deadline and I have three deals that I am going to go ahead with. The first deal is the Eduardo Nunez deal that sent him to the Giants for Adalberto Mejia.
The second deal we are doing is Wellington Castillo for Fernando Romero and Wander Javier.
Wellington Castillo G 86 Ab 301 R 31 H 65 HR 5 RBI 24 AVG .216 OBP .276 SLG .306 OPS .581 WAR .88
Fernando Romero IP 122.2 W-L 6-2 SO 110 BB 13 ERA 1.48 WHIP 1.08 Double-A
Wander Javier AB 226 R 26 HR 6 RBI 34 SB 26 AVG .312
Castillo is not having that great of A year but i have always been a fan and he brings some pop to a lineup that needs it against left handed pitching. He is also under team control for next year as well which is a plus in his last year of arbitration. I a giving up possibly my best pitching prospect this year in Romero. As you can tell by the numbers, he is having a superb year. He would be in Triple-A by now but he is blocked by Taylor Rodgers, Tyler Jay, Tyler Duffey, Shoehi Otani and Stephen Gonsalves in Triple-A. His potential has went to an A and he was a minor league all star as well. Javier is also having a solid year and is having the second best season for a SS in my system (ONly behind super prospect Nick Gordon). The problem is Javier is also blocked by Jorge Polanco (MLB), Nick Gordon (Triple-A)and Gourriel Jr (Triple-A but starting in CF because of Gordon). Javier will go to A diamondbacks team where he could be a starting 2B for them next year and Romero goes into A team who is desperate for pitching after the horrendous years to Miller and Corbin (Both real life and in my game lol)
The last deal will be Suzuki to the Rays for Brad Miller. The rays will not stop offering me deals for Suzuki as they need a catcher upgrade bad and Miller is rotting in Triple-A where he can bring versatility to my infield and Santana can be my 4th OF and stay out there instead of moving him around the IF so much. We will have a roster spot for him once I pull the Nunez deal.Follow my Twins franchise http://www.operationsports.com/Tmizzle/dynasty/Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Would teams that are playing out of their shoes, and doing a lot better than anticipated, try to make trades happen sooner than most teams? The Phillies are 43-25 right now and are ranked as the 25th best team. Do you think they'd try to make a move earlier to keep this up or wait to see if their team falls back down to earth? It is currently the 22nd of June and I have CPU trading off. I am trying to determine if I should upgrade them a few weeks early.
Also, Vince Velasquez (88ovr) is out 2-3 weeks.Last edited by moth to a flame; 08-20-2016, 12:30 AM.Nebraska Cornhuskers Detroit Tigers San Francisco 49ers Detroit Red Wings Syracuse Orange New York KnicksComment

I could see it going either way. I could see them trying to make a strategic move to improve the team without giving up a king's ransom. At the same time, I could see them waiting a little longer.
If I had to lean one way, I'd say they are going to try to make a move because player movement is always interesting and they are certainly looking like contenders."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Alright, just got to the point where the team goals are changed (rebuilding, playoff push etc) and I think it's Steven Matz who I will move on instead of any of the big 3. I think I can get a lot for him due to his 4 and half years of team control, high potential and already major league level stuff, despite a poor season for me (mainly because I suck with sinker ball pitchers I think). He has great value for both teams looking for a playoff push and those rebuilding, so he looks ideal for moving on to boost my offense.
The Rockies look a great fit and are very interested in him as the ace for their rebuilding project, with an eye on him keeping the ball out of the mile high air at Coors Field and they have some interesting options that I'd love. I need a 3B badly and they have Nolan Arenado in the final year before an arbitration they might struggle to afford (on 1.6m, wants 17m), or they have the ever popular Cargo who would be an obviously huge upgrade on Granderson as my 4 hitter and right fielder.
If I wanted Arenado I'd have to give up more than just Matz, possibly another high end pitching prospect like Rafael Montero, along with maybe a slightly further away infield prospect like Jomar Reyes, Gavin Cechini or Dominic Smith. Or I could get Cargo without giving up any other good prospects. Either way I went would see me trading away whoever they'd replace to a team making a playoff push, but I'd probably get more for Wright than I would for Granderson.
Thoughts? I'm tempted by Arenado as if I move Wright on it would free up the money to tie him down to a long contract and build my offense around him for the foreseeable future, plus Granderson is doing a much better job than Wright this year.Last edited by BigOscar; 08-20-2016, 12:58 PM.Comment

You can get a really good piece for Matz but I think you're pushing your luck if you want Arenado for him. Maybe Matz, Conforto, Dom Smith and Montero would get the Rockies to listen but dude isn't a free agent until after 2020 so the Rockies would need to be blown awayComment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Gonna take a whole lot more than what you suggested to get Arenado. Rafael Montero isn't nearly as valuable as Mets fans think. I must have seen him on here as a main piece in a trade a million times. Arenado would probably need deGrom not Matz.

Also, are you sure about that Arenado free agency? Because I'm pretty sure on the game he's down to his last two years of arbitration, so would be a free agent at the end of the 2018 season?
EDIT- Just checked, he qualified for 4 years of arbitration in real life but the game doesn't reflect that, on the game he's in his first of only three years arbitration, so he's lost a year.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
I get your point, I am probably overthinking the value of a sinker ball ace to the Rockies, I don't know if they are still as keen on that as they were. Montero is having a great year in triple A and already would probably be in their rotation if they had him, so I have to think his value to them is pretty decent but I am probably being overly optimistic. How about the value of Nimmo instead of Conforto? More or less value? I guess there is always a tendency ot overvalue your own prospects
