I turned trading up and just went with it. There's nothing you can really do about it outside of drafting for everyone.

It sorts itself out after a while, but yeah, the CPU loves drafting gluts at a position. I let it finish my draft and ended up with like 7 CF prospects (at least they were all pretty solid, so good trade pieces).

It really didn't seem to impact my first season, honestly - and by year 2, it was like normal.

Because of this, I'm glad it works this way in year 1 of fantasy draft. I wish it worked this way in year 1 of franchise because it's the same thing. I can't decide who I want on my 40-man prior to the first S.T.

Game 23 - San Diego Padres (13-9) at Los Angeles Dodgers (15-8)

A scary moment in the first inning of this game as the the 2nd batter of the game for the Padres, Carlos Correa, smashes a line drive that unfortunately Dodger hurler Matt Moore cannot dodge striking him in the side of the head. The ball was hit so hard the Dodgers managed to get a force at 2nd base on the play while Moore lay motionless on the mound. A 20-minute delay occurs as the training staff assists Moore off the field to a warm ovation from the home crowd.

"Something like that makes you have that awful feeling in your stomach. Moorsey is a tough guy, he will be back." -- Dave Roberts, Los Angeles Dodgers Manager

Meanwhile the Padres get another great outing on the mound from Brandon Finnegan throwing his 2nd complete game of the year. The visiting Padres get him 2 runs in the 7th to break a 1-1 tie, and then follow up with 3 more runs in the 8th for the 6-1 win.

"It was a good day for me on the mound. But I know all of us are hoping that Matt Moore is ok after taking that shot. Just plain scary stuff. " -- Brandon Finnegan, San Diego Padres

Game 2 of the 3 game series is set to go Saturday afternoon and has the Padres sending Bartolo Colon (2-1, 2.98) to the mound to face the Dodgers Clay Buchholz (1-0, 3.14).

Game 24 - San Diego Padres (14-9) at Los Angeles Dodgers (15-9)

The Padres bullpen gets another night off as Bartolo Colon turns back the clock and delivers an absolute gem of a game. Despite giving up a run and in the first inning, the large man would settle down and keep the Dodgers off the board the rest of the way for the complete game 5-1 win. The Padres support Colon with 5 runs on 11 hits including a 2 for 4, 3 RBI night from Devon Travis. Every Padres managed a hit on the night including Colon who went 1 for 3 at the plate including a walk and a run scored.

"The big was dealing tonight. Like him his fastball is heavy." -- Kris Bryant, San Diego Padres

The Dodgers are hoping to start of May with a win and prevent the sweep by sending Jake Odorizzi (3-1, 3.22) to the mound while the visiting Padres will be looking for the road sweep with lefty Daniel Norris (1-3, 3.81).

Notes: The Dodgers have placed Matt Moore on the 15-day disabled list with a head contusion. The Los Angeles medical staff informed management that Moore is expected to be out 3 to 4 weeks.

Game 25 - San Diego Padres (15-9) at Los Angeles Dodgers (15-10)

San Diego's 4-game winning streak and attempt at a series sweep is halted by a fine pitching performance from Jake Odorizzi. The right-hander kept the Padres batters off balance all night long. Solo home runs off the bats of Ryan Zimmerman in the 2nd and Mookie Betts in the 4th would be all the offense LA needed.

Odorizzi would cruise into the 9th inning where his only mistake of the night was a 1-out HR to right for Jorge Soler that cut the lead to 2-1. Odorizzi's final line was 8.1 IP 7 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 6 K's improving his record to 4-1 on the season. Jeurys Familia came in to clean up the 9th getting the last two outs and nailing down his 10th save of the season and allowing the Dodgers to avoid being swept at home.

"Buster (Posey) called a great game for me tonight. It makes it easy just to concentrate on executing on what pitch is called." -- Jake Odorizzi, Los Angeles Dodgers

The Padres head home for a 7-game homestand starting off with with the NL West leading Colorado Rockies. Game 1 goes Monday night with a colossal pitching match-up featuring the Padres Adam Wainwright (3-2, 1.69) taking on the Rockies Jake Arrieta (2-0, 2.10).

Game 26 - Colorado Rockies (16-9) at San Diego Padres (15-10)

The Rockies Jake Arrieta has an off night on the mound, issuing a season high 5 BB's with only 3 K's in 5 innings of work. The Padres take advantage of his wildness to touch him up for 5 runs on only 3 hits, and cruise to a 6-3 home win.

Meanwhile the Padres Adam Wainwright was forced to leave the game in the 4th inning complaining with forearm tightness. He is being evaluated by the training staff and is currently listed as day to day. Phil Coke came in and grabbed his first win of the season, his line 2.2 IP 1 H 0 R 0 ER 0 BB 3 K's. Chasen Bradford and Jason Grilli finishes the extended work for the bully and nailed down the 6-3 win.

"No real news on Wainwright at this minute. We have him scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. Hopefully we are just being cautious and it is nothing serious." -- Andy Greene, San Diego Padres Manager

Game 2 of the series goes Tuesday night with the Rockies sending Matt Harvey (2-1, 4.71) to face the Padres Aaron Sanchez (3-1, 2.27).

Game 27 - Colorado Rockies (16-10) at San Diego Padres (16-10)

The Padres relied on the long-ball to put all 6-runs on the board in a 6-1 win over the visiting Rockies. San Diego centerfielder Joc Pederson led the way with a fantastic day at the plate finishing 3 for 3 with 2 HR's 4 RBI's and a walk. Pederson had been struggling at the plate early this season but appears to be coming out of the funk with 3 homers in the first two games of the homestand. Jorge Soler continued his hot hitting adding a 2-run of his own in the win.

Aaron Sanchez danced out of trouble all night long to improve his record to 4-1, his final line was 6.2 IP 9 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 9 K's. Meanwhile the Rockies Matt Harvey drops to 2-2 giving up all 6 runs on the day, his final line 4.0 IP 7 H 6 R 6 ER 2 BB 4 K's and raised his ERA to 5.78 on the year.

"I was scuffling most of April, but we made some subtle changes to my approach and the results speak for themselves." -- Joc Pederson, San Diego Padres

San Diego tries from the home sweep on "getaway" day (wednesday) with a midday 12:40 p.m. start with the Padres sending undefeated Brandon Finnegan (3-0, 1.29) to the mound to take on the Rockies Steven Matz (1-1, 3.10).

Game 27 - Colorado Rockies (16-11) at San Diego Padres (17-10)

San Diego manages their 2nd home sweep of the season with a 5-4 win over the visiting Colorado Rockies. The Rockies manage to get on the Board first in the top of the 2nd but in the home half the Padres strike right back. San Diego sends 8 men to the plate and score 4 runs on 2 singles, 2 walks and a hit batter. The red-hot Joc Pederson manages a 2-out 2-run single to give the Padres a 4-1 lead after 2 innings of play. The scuffling Kris Bryant would add an insurance run the bottom of the 5th smashing a 2-1 curveball into the 2nd deck of the Metal Company building.

The Rockies would claw back as the Padres Brandon Finnegan had to battle almost every inning in order to improve his record to 4-0 on the year. Colorado DH Joe Mauer cut the lead to 5-3 in the 6th off a mammoth 2-run HR to dead center. Finnegan's final line was 6.0 IP 8 H 3 R 3 ER 1 BB 3 K's. It would take 4 Padre relievers including a 1-2-3 ninth inning from Roberto Osuna to nail down the win and grab his 6th save with the 5-4 final.

"It's been a while since I went yard. I was beginning to forget how good it feels to connect like that." -- Kris Bryant, San Diego Padres

The New York Mets come in to town for a 4-game series. Game 1 has Bartolo Colon (2-2, 2.53) for the Padres taking on the Mets Danny Duffy (3-2, 2.78).

Game 28 - New York Mets (13-13) at San Diego Padres (18-10)

The New York Mets jumped on Padres starter Bartolo Colon early and often scoring 2 runs in the first inning and then 5 more in the 3rd inning to hand him his third loss of the season and give him his shortest outing of the young season. His final line was 3.0 IP 10 H 7 R 7 ER 0 BB 2K's. "I just didn't have it today" remarked Colon, "my pitches were up in the zone and I can be effective when that happens."

Meanwhile Mets lefthander Danny Duffy takes full advantage of the early 7 nothing lead he was spotted. Duffy baffled hitters all day and he goes the distance in the 8-1 win, with his only big mistake on the day was a 3-1 fastball that Devon Travis hit over the CF wall to get the Padres their only run on the day. Duffy's final line was 9.0 IP 7 H 1 R 1 ER 3 BB 9 K's, improving his record to 4-2 on the season.

"The guys made it easy for me out there today. When you have a bunch of runs to play with you can pitch free and easy." -- Danny Duffy, New York Mets

Game 2 of the 4 game series will have Daniel Norris (1-4, 3.66) on the mound for the Padres to take on the Mets Trevor Bauer (3-1, 1.56).

Notes: Adam Wainwright remains day to day with forearm tightness. The Padres are expecting to skip his next start. Matt Wieters continued his modest 7-game hitting streak with a single in the 9th inning. Ichiro is showing signs of coming out of his early season funk finishing the day 3 for 4 with 3 singles. Ichiro needs 51 more hits to reach the historic 3000 mark.

                      Ozzie and Joey Captivate Boston

This is becoming the "Ozzie and Joey Show" in Boston. Or the Ozzie Gallo Sox.

                      Through 68 Games:

                      Joey Gallo - .376, 21 HR, 55 RBI, 58 R, .461 OBP, .744 SLG, 5.2 WAR (yes, 5.2. Yes, All-Star level WAR...in 68 games)

                      Ozzie Rodriguez - 8-2, 83 IP, 60 K, 3.24 ERA, 1.2 WAR

So far, these two men have been the best on the team - or at least in Ozzie's case, the best in the rotation...which is both impressive and sad when your rotation has Yu Darvish, Kenta Maeda, and Taijuan Walker as the top three.

Julio Urias is about to play himself back to AAA in the #4 spot.

Offensively, it's not even close. Gallo is it and it's been ridiculous. He hit 3 HR in a blowout 13-6 loss, driving in 4 of the 6 runs. He had his average drop to .366, and promptly had a 3-hit game and then the 3-HR game that was 4 total hits (he roped a double to right between the home runs) and raised his average 10 points...from .366...in a series.

Scary, scary stuff. And he's still improving. Now up to 85 contact vs RHP (still very mediocre vs LHP...guess he has to have one weakness...even Superman has his kryptonite).

Gallo is leading the MVP voting and the batting title (poor Kris Bryant, having a strong first half as well, has to be wondering when Gallo will cool off).

Ozzie Rodriguez is second in ROY voting. Toronto's Sam Travis is #1 for now with a .243/12/31 line - not impressive to this point, so Ozzie could take over the lead if he keeps going.

Overall, the Red Sox are playing really strange in 2018...but it's working well enough to be 46-22...though currently on a 4-game losing streak thanks to terrible pitching...including getting lit up by Miguel Sano on his return to Boston as a Dodger.

The range of batting averages goes from Gallo to Gallo's replacement, Steve Alston at .194 at the bottom end. Gallo has over 30 walks, Audry Perez still doesn't even have 10 (just 7). Chapman has a 3.90 ERA (inflated by being a part of that 13-6 loss). Just a weird season so far. Gallo has 21 HR, Schwarber has 14, Russell is third...with 9...as the #2 hitter.

And the really scary part is it's pretty much Joey Gallo and Ozzie Rodriguez being the corner stones. If they slow down or, heaven forbid, get hurt...folks better step up.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Picking 21st overall made for a difficult decision as to the direction to go in drafting. Seeing Kris Bryant on the board, made that decision a little easier. In round two, the left side of the infield (as well as the middle of the order) was locked down for the foreseeable future with Corey Seager's selection. The remainder of the position player portion of the roster was constructed with aging veterans (Utley), and players looking to make good on their once lofty projections (Upton & Brown).

Rotation-wise, the Phillies seem to be confident in their ability to contend. Porcello & Kazmir provide solid #3 production, with cost controlled contracts. The current #3 starter, Michael Fulmer will look to prove he can be the staff ace going forward. C.J. Wilson & David Phelps look to provide innings, and hold down the back end of the rotation while prospects such as Jason Groome & Chad Green work their way to the Show.

The Bullpen projects to be a strong suit for the club. Ryan Madson will close, with Carson Smith & Justin Wilson being his primary set-up men. The Phil's elected to carry two long men in Jeff Locke & Gavin Floyd, with the hope to be able to keep certain starters from having to labor too deep into games.

                          Minor League Depth
The Phillies were able to secure some depth in the event of an injury to the major league club. Here's a look at veterans waiting in the minors:
                          SP Ryan Vogelsong (R)
                          RP Phil Coke (L)
                          RP Jim Johnson (R)
                          RP Chris Young (R)
                          C Ryan Hanigan (R)
                          LF Daniel Nava (L)
                          CF Michael Bourn (L)
                          RF Seth Smith (L)

I haven't really touched a game in what feels like forever, just knocked out what i think is a pretty solid draft with the Phillies, and subsequently lost the first game!

Game 29 - New York Mets (14-13) at San Diego Padres (18-11)

The Padres jumped out to a 3-1 lead after two innings of play and it looked like Daniel Norris was in line to grab his 2nd win of the season. The pesky Mets would cut the lead to 1 after a solo HR off the bat of Scooter Gennett in the 6th. Daniel Norris could not get out of the following inning (7th) after giving up the tying run with 1-out on a Albert Pujols solo shot to left. Then with 2-outs and 2 men-on on pinch hitter Hyun-soo Kim smashed a 3-run shot to right giving the Mets a 6-3 lead. Norris drops to 1-5 on the season, his final line was 6.2 IP 10 H 6 R 6 ER 0 BB 6 K's.

The Mets Trevor Bauer kept New York in the game long enough to improve to 4-1, his final line was 6.0 IP 8 H 3 R 3 ER 0 BB 8 K's. The Mets bully shut the door the rest of the way with Casey Janssen and Tyler Clippard picking up holds, while Craig Kimbrel grabbed a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his 9th save of the year.

"We are really starting to play our game now. I'm hoping we can stay hot on this long west coast road trip." -- Terry Collins, New York Mets

The New York Mets have now won 5 games in a row and have taken over first place in the NL East. The Padres are looking to end the winning streak on Saturday afternoon in Game 3 of the 4 game set having Adam Wainwright (3-2, 1.99) make his first start since having his last outing shortened with forearm tightness to take on the Mets Lance Lynn (2-2, 3.38).
