Sox Rebuff Several Trade Offers

Suddenly, everyone and their brother is calling on the phone to talk trades.

"Not sure what this is about, other than maybe GMs think we're buyers due to the injuries. But we're not ready to try to trade our way out of this. They will be back and it's still pretty early in the season, " commented a team official.

Another interesting aspect to these offers is that they don't address the outfield or include power bats. Perhaps they think they Red Sox will be in desperation mode...or will suddenly just give up on the season?

In any case, there's no rumblings of any deals wanting to be made. The one trade they wanted to make, picking up pitching help, they have presumably made.

Injuries to the rotation might prompt the Sox to go back on the market, but even that is not assured.

'STROS SAY NO

The Phillies GM came calling today, offering the Astros a trade. Sources have stated the Phillies were attempting to move their #4 starter Ubaldo Jiminez for the Astros catcher of the future, Carson Kelly. When asked, Jeff Luhnow had this to say "We have already addressed our pitching needs, therefore there are currently no trades on the table for us." Brian McTaggart noted that the Phillies were attempting to deal from a position of strength, with Kershaw/Strausburg/Zimmerman lining up in the rotation before Jiminez. The oddity of the proposal was that the Phillies have Derek Norris and Rob Brantly behind the dish. Are the Phillies looking to add pieces for a larger deal? Time will tell.

A 2-1 defeat by the Rangers as we continue our streak of every other game is a loss. Carlos Beltran and the bottom of the order is not helping at all. 6-7-8-9 only one hitter above .200 somethings gotta give...

TRADE

Out of respect for Beltran, and not wanting to run the risk of losing him on waivers, the front office got permission from Beltrans agent to seek a trade. Luhnow and Hinch spoke handily prior to pulling the trigger, and decided the best thing they could do was to find a decently young OF for the Minors. To their suprise, multiple teams offered varying packages for the aging outfielder. A trade has been agreed upon with the Padres.

Padres get: RF Carlos Beltran & LF David DeJesus
Astros get: LF Brandon Guyer & SP Alfredo Simon

Simon who was pitching in AAA for the Padres will continue doing so for Houston, as he will join Fresno later today.

The organization was not sure what to do with Brandon Guyer, stash him in the minors, and call up Tyler White to DH? Or let him roam the outfield and give the struggling Austin Jackson & Trayce Thompson some rest while White continues to grow at AAA Fresno. After some internal discussions, the near term plan is to have Guyer play for Houston while White refines his game a bit.

Personally, I went with the best selection of jerseys. Having a nice plate view is sweet, but you only get it half of the time. And for me, it also depends on who I wanna get in the first round. I knew I wanted to build the team around Carlos Correa, and the idea of him wearing a Twins uniform felt odd to me for some reasons. But with a Cleveland Indians uniform, he looks awesome !

I went with the Twins and built around Correa and let me tell ya, Correa in a Twins uni is an absolutely beautiful sight.

The rosters are now up under the name of Marino's FD Rosters.

If Koskie, Radke or Guardado are in there, I'm all in on these. (Actually, I'll be in either way. Will be a fun alternative to my Twins FD with the OSFM Rosters.)
