Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here

Played a game in the daytime at Fenway. The framerate was pretty good overall but just messed me up sometimes while pitching. I use Analog so I had to concentrate extra to make up for the drop in frames once in a while. Still didn't see any dugout cutscenes. Does anyone here notice how the dynamic hitting increases much slower than the pitching? At least for me it seems that way. I scored 8 runs on 16 hits and I am still 3/4 on rookie plus. I am already up to a little over halfway on All-Star pitching.

Does anyone here think that maybe the people having the framerate issues are doing something different over ones that swear their framerate is stable? We already know about fisheye affecting it but could other things maybe factor into it? For instance, I use dynamic difficulty and analog pitching. If other users have the same setup as me, could maybe that be why people using a standard difficulty and maybe classic pitching are experiencing a different framerate?

I'm pretty sure that I heard the devs say they use actual sun positioning based on place/time, so it should be rather accurate.
You may be right. I paid more attention to what was happening outside after I posted, and it really dint get dark outside until 7:45 ish. So, yeah I was wrong.

Was enjoying my carryover franchise until the data got corrupted. Sad thing is that I didn't have a backup save.

I was in the middle of saving after playing a game and my beagle pup accidentally turned off the power strip that my PS4 was plugged into.

Guess I'll go back to my new franchise.

Wouldn't the save from MLB 15 still be in the cloud? Couldn't you re-load it and only lose the progress you'd made on 16?

Nope I deleted it once I transferred the save like an idiot.

You deleted it from Online Storage too?

Definitely a good idea to for when something like that happens. You can pick and choose which games you want to save to online storage too.

I back everything up on a USB, but I deleted it off the USB once I carried over my save.

Oh well...no biggie. I'll just start over fresh. And definitely use Cloud Storage....

I would always say use the cloud storage. Once you set it up, you don't have to worry about it as it will automatically upload at a time you designate.

So apparently although playing HRD always generates a daytime setting, it randomizes whether or not the roofs of certain stadiums are closed. Sadly, the roofs don't have any collision detection mapped to them.

I guess that shouldn't be too much of a bother, since hitting roofs in real life would for the most part be impossible, but in this game it is definitely "possible." The other things is stadiums like Minute Maid Park have glass that cover left field when it closes, yet the ball goes right through it in game.

Small thing that would have been a nice touch.

On another note entirely, I hit the glove at AT&T Park on a bounce. Just knowing that you can actually "hit" it is really cool. Hoping someday I can hit that, or the coke bottle, on a fly. I'll go ahead and say I think I did hit the coke bottle on a fly, but it's hard to kind of determine given the view I had, and no real replay to speak of.

I'm glad that the commentary has been updated, I'm hearing things I've never heard before. I was watching (really listening to) the Rays/Blue Jays game on the laptop while I was playing The Show, Dee Gordon came up to bat and they were talking about him opening up a charity for kids who had a parent pass away due to domestic disputes and my wife goes "Wait was that the video game or the game game?"

Hit variety--I've read others complimenting this, and I just want to add my enthusiastic praise about this too. I am incredibly pleased at seeing such a wide range of hits in the '16 version. There has been slow incremental gains in this over the years with an expected improvement once the physics improvements were made a few years ago. But this year's game is just superb--and much better than even last year's edition. In playing only 20-25 games, I have already seen such a sizable number of different types of hits (and outs)--from seemingly every angle off the bat. From bloop shots to rocket line drives and everything in-between. And importantly it actually matches up to where you'd expect it to go based on location and swing timing--not always the case in past games

It just feels so realistic when you play--it's almost to the point where I'd always hoped they would eventually get it--where the ball could go anywhere off the bat--like in an actual game. I suppose you could argue it's not quite "perfect" yet, but it's by far the best I've seen and personally feel '16 is worth getting over '15 just for this... at least for those like me that really love the realism this brings to playing games.
