So I used the strike zone and wide camera for batting and yes, the frame rate is much better. I only noticed one dip. I won't be using fisheye again until they fix it.
I have become fully aware of how low rez the runners in the little box are. I was hoping for more detail with the power of PS4. Have they always been this low detail on PS4?
The announcers made 2 mistakes. They said a guy was late on a swing on a strikeout when he went down looking and they said a guy hit a ball hard at a fielder when he really struck out.
A cool thing I saw was a graphic on screen showing the remaining guys on the opposing teams bench.
The ball looks like a softball still. I really noticed it this time at Yankee stadium. I am pretty sure this is intentional and not a bug.
Has anyone else noticed the weird records that show on the winning pitchers when the game is over?

progressive field in cleveland is very patriotic this year with 3 United States flags. i also notice when checking my stats in online vs mode, i used 3 different teams and it shows up all combined on the team i last used?

otherwise good game overall. they made a lot of improvements, but there are some bugs they need to fix.

Its advertising for people that haven't bought the game. The people that see the still photos or video of the gameplay that are unfamiliar with the series and ask "what's that?"

If people are looking at photos of the game online, I'm pretty sure they know what they clicked on.

Anyways, I'm really enjoying the game for the most part.

I'm curious tho, are they ever gonna facescan the players? Some of these guys look like they're straight off of PS3.

Some of that advertising is replacing real-life beer sponsors (or tobacco, in the case of the Polo Grounds) which The Show can't use and keep their rating (E, I assume?).

There MAY be a fix for this but I doubt it. # of objects is a processor issue. PS4 just can't handle all of that crowd. You'll notice framerate is fine on spring training and minor league stadiums.

It may be an efficiency issue in the programming but more likely the processor is the bottleneck.

Is The Show still on the green monster?

I love how All Star Baseball I think had fake sponsors in the stadiums. I think MVP may have too?

Unfortunately Yes, "The Show" is still plastered across the green monster. I figured the massive billboard (SHOW16) above the green monster would have been sufficient advertisement.

Has anyone tried to do a short season? I'm trying to run one now and it seems like they treat it like spring training or something. In the first game the cpu pitcher hadn't given up any hits and had a low pitch count, but they took him out in the 4th. Similar scenario in my next one. Not sure if this will continue, but I sure hope not. I never finish a full season in franchise, so I was hoping to be able to run through a shortened one. This kind of kills it a bit.

Another thing I love in this game...all those Cleveland Indians fans. They put in the Mario coin flip noise every time the Indians 'score! Love it!!!!

The new animations in the game are such a nice touch. Have seen some amazing plays.

It's not a PS4 issue. The real problem is devs using the same old PS3 engine. It was an engine made for another system, a different one with a very specific architecture and specs. The next-gen The Show is a remastered version of the old one with some middleware ( like the one for lighting ) to upgrade the graphic. Remastering for another system is a very difficult process, it's not because you're using an outdated engine the game will run smoother in a more powerful console or pc. Usually it's quite the opposite. There are old games that struggle on high-end pc and others that perform better on PS4 or Xboxone even if you're using a good gaming pc. Or take the Bethesda games. Fallout 4 performance wise is a disgrace. It's not a PS4 or XOne issue. It's just because Bethesda continue to use a really old game engine, the infamous Gamebryo, with a ton of middleware. If you're interested, check the interview to Naughty Dogs about the remastered version of The Last Of Us: it was really a difficult task to achieve. Until devs will use this old engine, The Show will have framerate issues. According to Digital Foundry, MLB The Show 09 was 1080p and 60 fps. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/ml...1080p60-on-ps3 Now ask yourself why with the same old engine and overall the same graphic ( minus middleware ) the game is performing really bad in comparison. OS is a lovely comunity, full of passion and true baseball fans, i really like it, but technical wise is like they live on Mars. It's always your TV ( which can only affect input lag ). It's always your PS4 ( the same for everyone ) or your The Show copy. It was a decision by San Diego the one to port the old version of The Show on PS4 using the same old game engine. Probably because it's a small studio and they don't have enough resources and time to build a new one. When you switch from an engine to another, you are starting from zero, you lose pretty much everything you've done before. Every dev from San Diego can confirm this, for sure. They probably will not and for the same reason they don't talk about framerate since the first The Show on PS4. Again, ask yourself why. Advertise a game running at 60fps nowdays it's a big selling point. The Show 17 will perform pretty much the same and so The Show 18, until the moment they change the engine. Well, it's a wall of text but i hope it makes things a little more clear for everybody.

You make a good point. The PS3 was a notoriously difficult platform to develop for. Working with the cell architecture was not very straightforward compared to other platforms. This was why, for a few years, Xbox 360 games looked and ran better than the same game on PS3. But used correctly, the PS3 could result in some beautiful first party games. MLB The Show was one of those games and it ran beautifully on PS3.

We're just speculating, but I suspect the loss in frame rate is due to SDS not having the remastering skills of the kind of studios that ported over God of War III, Journey, Uncharted or The Last of Us to PS4. It seems like they are brute forcing the game onto PS4 and the optimizations aren't there.

Of course, if we are right and we are probably not, spending resources on optimizing the game for PS4 would result in not being able to add as much in terms of features and gameplay improvements. Again, I'm naive, but maybe Sony can invest in an expanded team to get the game not only looking good on PS4, but running well, while not sacrificing resources for other improvements. Maybe the 9.3 from IGN will result in a significant sales increase that will increase SDS' budget. Like getting to the playoffs in The Show will increase your budget for next year.

The game looks better than ever, but its PS3 roots are still lingering.

Unfortunately , framerate does not sell. Graphics are.
That's the main problem right now in console gaming. Every game could run at 60 fps but devs are not willing to make the compromises to insure that because ultimately the look of the game is what sells.

I wish we had graphic settings like in the pc world .
