As the older guys retire the budgets get further widened. 8 years in the league is older so they are bringing it back to an extent.
Contracts are not getting bigger. I think the devs might have wanted to err on the side of caution as they did last year. I would like to see it dialed back again.
Edit: As a human controlled team I don't see any reason why you couldn't get just about anyone you want in free agency as any team. With the new logic if you pay enough they are coming.Last edited by tabarnes19_SDS; 03-31-2016, 04:00 PM.Comment

Carryover saves have less increase since budgets are so high to begin with. Both become inflated.

I see the same roster bug as last year in Franchise Mode where teams will carry 9 relievers and 1 bench guy. I'm aware you can fix this with 30 team control but still very frustrating. Season Mode does 13 players, 12 pitchers why can't that apply in Franchise Mode as well!

I'm not sure if you're looking for just issues or general franchise observations, so let me know if this kind of info doesn't fit in this thread.
One nice thing I observed during a quick glance at the offseason is that it now identifies players on other teams who have actually received a qualifying offer. Last year it would show everyone who qualified for an offer, but you couldn't tell who actually received an offer until something like 10 days had passed. Now it actually specifies if a guy received an offer, so that will help with offering contracts to free agents.
I'm going to do some experiments with potential changes today. As tabarnes has noted, we don't get those notification emails anymore. I also tested with a carryover franchise and there don't seem to be notification emails there either. I just went through and wrote down all the potentials for the Braves player at the start of a season. This afternoon I'm going to try simming a season and see how potential has changed at the end of the season. Hopefully I'll have some info on that later today.Comment

I posted this in the Franchise Progress thread but maybe i should have put it in here.
"Have any of you guys been able to start a fresh franchise where players career stats aren't messed up, even when i am sure the stats for my teams players are correct i always find players on other teams with mixed up career stats.
Have started and restarted so many times that i don't think its possible to have them all correct. Hope it can be patched as i was so exited to have full career stats for players."
The issue is that some players career stats get swapped with another player, an example from one franchise i started was josh hamilton had odurs career total's and odur had hamilton's career total.
All the stats for each season are correct just the totals are swapped, so while it may not seem like a big deal the game uses these total's for milestones and in game stats.
A pitcher for the dodgers, i think it was Woods was credited with his 100th win and while in his stats total he had 100 wins he had only been in the majors for a few years with a handful of wins going by his season stats. He had kazmir's career stats total and kazmir had his.Comment

To me the following is a major issue with 2016 franchise.
In a world where we are all a bunch of nerdy stat freaks (And the devs know it) they went and took away a very key stat feature. When a batter comes up for his first plate appearance you will see his season stats. But every AB after that, we only get his stat line for that one particular game.

I'm seeing about 8 years in the future the budgets changes work. Some teams stay unchanged, some see 1-3% decreases while others see 3% increases. There is a couple outliers that get 8-9%.
I would like to see that start right from year one. I wouldn't mind if most teams saw an increase in the beginning as long as they are not double digit increase.
I would like to see
15 teams gain 2-7%
5 teams unchanged
5 teams 8-14%
5 teams drop 1-3%
I invite those of you who would like this issue resolved to upvote the bug report:

I created a different thread for this before I saw this one, so hopefully the mods delete it. My franchise issue - Whenever I make any kind of roster move (sending a player down, placing on waivers, putting an injured player on the DL), My lineups and Pitcher assignments get completely revamped.
One specific example is I put a player on unconditional release waivers, everything got messed up (then I fixed everything), and the next day I was able to trade the player I waived, hence messing everything up again.
Note that this is a carryover franchise from 15Comment

With respect to viewing league-wide stats, it'd be nice if we could filter out players who don't meet the qualifications for rate stats.
And the missing SB stat must have been a goof somewhere. I'm guessing it'll be fixed.

9 players had their potential decrease one point
2 players had their potential decrease two points
1 player had their potential increase two points
This will require more research of course, and I'm looking forward to doing it again once OSFM drops, but at first glance I'm thinking potentials don't change as much. I wonder if it's because actual progression now changes more based on performance, so in some way it would be a double whammy if potential changed a significant amount based on performance as well.Comment

While simming I happened to notice another stat tracking bug. After a player signs a free agent deal, his prior year is recorded as TOT for team played instead of the correct team played on. The system must not change over the year until January so if they sign in December the cpu feels they played on 2 teams during the season.
