Post #138 from Russell_SCEA states "The auto base running issue will be rectified in an update."

Hopefully that occurs soon. Meanwhile, we have to be patient.

Yeah I understand most people's complaints are with auto baserunning, but unfortunately the problem I'm having occurs all the time regardless of auto or assisted.

I never play connected to the internet unless I want to download a patch. Usually I don't even bother with patches because the game plays so well in season mode out of the box. This is the first year since 2009 when I started buying The Show that I have had to put the game aside because the auto baserunning problems make it unplayable for me. Internet or no internet does not affect this problem. Also it is not caused by manually stealing or by accidentally hitting the L1 or R1 buttons. I've played knowing that I am not doing those things. It's a bug which seems to occur completely at random and at least 2 or 3 times a game. It's annoying of course, but it's never happened before and SCEA have a good record with patches, so I'll wait patiently for the auto baserunning patch which we've been told they are working on.

I use assisted baserunning, several times this year with two outs the man on first failed to take off to 2nd base on a base hit to the outfield. It has only happened to me that I've noticed when using directional analog hitting. I'm a show vet since the ps2 days. Never have I seen this before. It happened twice my last game. I don't think it ever happens when I play zone hitting. Weird though because it's not only auto baserunning that is glitched. I've never used auto in my life.

            Re: Baserunning

I'm on PS4 and always connected to the internet. Once I quit using the Fisheye camera my issues stopped, except for not being able to take leads or steal.

I doubt it's tied directly to cameras but I think the issues people are experiencing are likely tired to something in the settings they use. Of course, I can't be sure though.

Hmm I find this interesting. I use analog hitting so I'm wondering if the game still has "up" registered on my right stick, which then prompts a head-first slide when I take control of a runner going to third.

I actually switched back to my old controller just to test it out and I haven't seen my specific issue pop up nearly as often.

I play on the PS4, always offline franchise, and always unconnected to the internet, and my only issue is guys not moving from second to third on a hit & run. Its a minor annoyance, and not the game breaker that some of you describe.

I mention that because there was an issue in Madden this past year that seemed to effect people who play while connected to the internet and not those who play "unplugged", strange as that seems.
PS3 here and I have no issues with auto baserunning so far. I play disconnected from the internet but I don't think this is the case. Directional button hitting.

I didn't bother reading through all 22 pages of this thread, so I apologize if this was already mentioned.
I use manual control and my biggest problem is having someone run home from 2nd. The input doesn't register right away and by the time it does, the runner has stopped at 3rd. It's annoying for sure, I've gotten in the habit of advancing all runners and adjusting the other runners accordingly.

I've never had an issue with base running when using buttons. Like I said ive used assisted only.

                      Re: Baserunning

Base running is so frustrating this year. Constantly leave runs out there.

The auto-sliding is ridiculous since the runners have no intelligence on the play as to decide or not and by the time you deem it safe to advance them they initiate a slide into 2nd or 3rd.

Also losing runs when trying to send a runner home while rounding 2nd.

Not to mention when runners don't advance on bloops even after it drops.

Love this game and really wish this worked better.

Glad to see there's a thread for this issue. I couldn't tell you how many runs haven't scored from the auto-baserunning. I'll hit a double into the gap, watch it roll to the fence, then realize my player hasn't left second base yet- he's kind of waiting to see if the ball will get caught.

ALSO! Two outs, runners should be running on anything. They still wait at their base.

Very frustrating bug that I hope gets fixed.

P.S- sorry if this has already been covered

                          1) Not pressed
                          2) Pressed
                          3) Held
                          4) Released

So, if at the hit, the controller was in state 2 or 3 for whatever reason, you may see the behavior you are describing. On our end, clearing the shoulder button state on the hit and requiring a new, physical press should resolve the issue regardless of the cause...

Thanks Woodweaver. I have not had issue with runners diving back to first, but I repeatedly have issue where runner freezes between bases. This triggers even when I don't touch any buttons except the X, square or round to hit the ball. It seems to happen most often when the ball is hit within 30 feet of the runner. My runner gets thrown out at second couple times per game because he does not automatically advance. But I have also seen this problem between second and third, on popups (won't return to base), gap hits, etc.

Pretty sure classic is still there under advanced options, L2 or R2.

After doing more and more testing I have discovered that it does look like it could be the way you're holding the controller. I noticed that when I press X to swing that my right finger would sometime press down the right side of the R1 button which caused the runners to dive back to base. I have since then changed the way I hold the controller by making sure my fingers at the top are only resting on the R2 & L2 buttons but not pressing them down and I have not experienced the issue since doing this. I would recommend everyone that is experiencing this problem to re adjust the way you hold the controller and see if the problem persists. I only hope that they released a patch which eliminates any user input disabling auto base running.
