Re: Baserunning
The baserunning wasn't screwed up for me as bad as it was for a lot of you guys before......but it is now. I lost multple runs in my first game since the patch because the guys just didn't want to move beyond one base on a hit on their own.
I had a man on first and hit a DEEP double to LF in the first inning. I was sure that I'd score a run, and the lead runner just stopped on second base before the OF even had the ball in his hands. I realized what had happened and directed him to run further with L1, but that made my batter run late too, and he was gunned down at second. So instead of leading 1-0 with a man on second, I had a man on 3rd and one out.
Several other gaffs messed me up too. I wouldn't call it a gamebreaker, because I can pay close attention and hit the L1 button at the right time to usually make things happen myself, but it is frustrating. Weird how this has gotten screwed up after working well for so many years.
I wanted to wait until after I had 24 hours w/ the patch(approximately 6-8 hours in gameplay for me)
I recorded 3-4 gameplay videos from last night where baserunning is just head scratching to say the least. I've got guys sliding into 3rd from a hit and run from second as well as what you're talking about, I know I have videos of the slide, I'm just hoping I saved the one you're talking about, it was horrendous. It's not only an eye sore, it's effecting final results and that's no bueno.Always looking for solid CF25 Dynasty owners, follow the link to get started >> PS5 P5 Dynasty DiscordComment

Re: Baserunning
I'll add that classic after the patch is broken. For example, runners on 1st and 3rd. I hold the 'O' button and tap L1 to send the runner to 2nd. But both runners try and advance.
Runners on 1st and 2nd and a base hit. I hit the Triangle button and mash the pad for home plate. No response. The Pad just lights up.

Re: Baserunning
Is anyone having any issues with default baserunning + auto? Are all the remaining issues classic only (minus the weird over-aggressive choices)?
I've only played a handful of games after the patch with that setup and have been really happy with the change. I can override the CPU and leadoff/steal without canceling auto.Comment

Classic is definitely messed up. I explained what I think is going on a few posts up.Comment

Re: Baserunning
Just played a game with default manual - it works except I keep executing commands on the pad like I am in classic. I was able to control 2 separate runners.
Next up, I'm gonna gut the app and not install 1.4 and wait for the patch. Hopefully not 2017.Comment

Re: Baserunning
Let me preface this by saying that I'm not trying to come across as arrogant or a know-it-all by any means. We're talking about a video game after all, so I'm not trying to brag.
With that being said, every time I see a post about difficulty running the bases I never understand it. Maybe it's because I've played The Show for a long time, and MVP before that which had a very similar style of baserunning.
But I'd say that running the bases is probably my forte in this game. For anyone that is ever having difficulty with it, let me offer this advice. Get away from relying on L1 and R1. They are okay in certain situations but it's easy to become completely dependent on those and they will screw you up. Start giving direct commands to individual baserunners. It's really not as hard as people make it out to be.
If I have bases loaded and I hit a ball in the gap I have every single baserunner, including the batter running to first, assigned to where they are headed before the hitter reaches first base. Every time. It's truly second nature and I virtually don't even think about it.
I even have specific slides entered for runners, especially at home, and I always have an extra step for my runner at second base. You'd be surprised how many runs this will buy you.
I suggest to start off simple. On a ball hit to the fence DO NOT just hold down L1. press down and to the right with the left analog stick (selecting the hitter running to first) and then just hit triangle to tell him to go to second. Practice, practice, practice.
It's extremely rewarding to run the bases well and I've taken a few extra bases more than enough times in this game because of head's up baserunning and the ability to navigate the interface.Last edited by Gagnon39; 05-04-2016, 03:21 AM.Comment

I suck out loud at controlling the baserunners. For me, its hard as Hell, and I'm so glad that the Show has done such a good job of handeling it over the years on Auto. And I enjoy having the freedom to use L1 to send a guy when I see fit, as some older games didn't offer that freedom. I feel no shame in playing it the way that I do, nor would I take any extra pleasure in any success that I got from total control, because it would be balanced by an overwhelming amount of failure.
Here's hoping they get it worked out soon.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

I select the runner going to third and hit the home button. It displays "HOME" under the runner for a split second, then reverts back to THIRD (or whatever it says for a runner heading to third) and then cues a slide on its own. Only after the slide can I command him to go home again. Very frustrating.

Re: Baserunning
This is what I do. I've been playing since MLB 10 and never had any issues with baserunning until this year. Along with another user I'm this thread, I keep on having guys sliding into third when I've commanded them to go home.

Every time I have a runner on second I anticipate hitting a ball past/out of the infield. Literally less than a second after I hit the ball I hit up followed by X. Again, it's virtually muscle memory at this point. Heck, I even push down and to the left on the right analog stick to tell him to slide around the plate and slap it with his hand.
If you've played as long as you've said I'm sure you're doing it early but it's all I can think of to fix the problem. Like I said I've never seen it happen.Comment

If nothing else, having to time those presses is going to make the old (normal) way become second nature for you once they fix it!Comment
