Exactly. And by the way, the problems I mentioned a bit earlier? All on manual/assisted baserunnng. I pass first by a hair, the runner takes forEVER to turn and go back. The ball can be in the middle outfield and a small overrun can nail me at first. and this has nothing to do with sliders.

Apologies if it's already been discussed within the 60 pages of this thread, but: With runners on the corners, how do I steal the runner on first without both of them going? The left stick doesn't select the runners correctly pre-pitch.

          Re: Baserunning

Here is a video of a game I played this morning.

One on 1 out. 3-2 count I manually send Lindor on first for a hit and run...Harper rips a single between first and second you will see I give the command to Lindor to head to third no slides....he takes the turn and heads to third.

So here is an example of base running working like it has for me all season. Sorry that there seems to be issues for others. I have seen the videos.....I can't explain what could be happening as again...it is just not happening to me using default running controls with assisted sliding turned on.

The command is to hold the left stick towards first and tap (not hold) the L2 button anytime before the pitcher starts his motion towards the plate. You can let off the stick after tapping L2 in order to get ready to hit. You'll get a rumble confirmation in the controller that tells you the command's been entered.

There is, I believe, no way to do the fully-controlled steal (i.e holding down the L2 and releasing it as the pitcher winds up) with only the 1st base runner. Baserunning ratings will determine how good of a jump the runner gets.

              Re: Baserunning

I have just returned to this game after an absence of a few weeks and downloaded the 1.5 patch. Autobaserunning is better than it was but not perfect. In 2 season games I've already had a repeat of the runner refusing to move from 1st glitch. I'll persevere but if these occurrences become too frequent I'm just going to have to abandon this year's game. The devs have been tampering with something that has been working perfectly for years. Why? When I select ABR at the start of my season I don't need a signal that ABR is on every time I get a hit. It suggests that there is an alternative (and of course there is - that stupid L stick signal). Please just return ABR to what it was, so that when I select it at the start of the season that is the end of the matter.

still having runners over-run bases on a regular bases. the game just decides the runner is going to round and if you press R1 to stop them from rounding they go back a base. It's infuriating.

Auto-baserunning in this year's game is literally the most annoying thing ever in The Show franchise.

Auto means run to the next base automatically. Stop at a base when the fielder next to you has the ball, etc. If I wanted the option to control baserunners, I would set it to manual.

I can't tell you how many rallies have been squashed because of this terrible new auto-baserunning mechanic. It's more like "assist" baserunning.

If I have a runner on 1st and one on 3rd and I want to send only the runner on 1st to steal, how do I do that?

I use assisted baserunning, and I know that the L2 queue sends all runners.

Hold the L-Stick over to the right to highlight the runner on first and tap the L2 button.

Since the last update, its been weird for me. There are plays (often no doubt doubles) where the auto is in control and works the way that it should. But on most other hits, the base arrows pop up and the game wants me to tell the players to advance. I don't want to play that way, but I've gotten better at telling the lead runner to go properly, but its turned a lot of doubles into singles, and there are many times I've gotten one run when I should have easily gotten two, and maybe three.

For me the issue is going from 2nd to home with a base hit. I've never seen the issue with orders to go to 3rd.
I've haven't played in a while so assuming this was never addressed yet. Might be able to play a game tonight before bed.

If the arrows are appearing, then it's likely you accidentally pressed a button that triggers the override to manual baserunning. Either L1/R1 or the left analog stick. I noticed that if I try to trigger a lead off too late, this can happen.

One annoying thing is L1 does not lead off all baserunners, so if you have the bases loaded and want everyone to take an extra lead, you have to press L1, then analog up + L1, then analog right + L1. It's a pain in the butt, and sometimes if I press it too late, I disable auto.

Ok....but how are you supposed to power swing up in the zone without using the L analog stick? If I get a high fastball, thats what I do. Its been a fundamental part of how I play the game since day 1.

It shouldn't happen from swing input, I just included L stick because it is one of the ways that you can take control of a runner. For me, my index finger was brushing against the R1 button on some swings, just had to be conscious to not put any pressure on it.
