    Re: Baserunning

Ok, I read a post here that questioned if we are accidentally hitting the R1 button when we swing? I checked the position of my hands on the controller and my right index finger is on the R1 button. I have intentionally kept that finger off the controller as I swing. So far, I have had no issues with base running set to auto for 3 straight games. If hitting the R1 button while we swing is activating manual base running and it's something new to the game this year, maybe it can be patched back to purely auto. I have never had this issue until this year. Those who are having this problem, please try with making sure your index finger is not on R1 when you swing and post back with result.

My finger is never on the R1 button and it still happens.

I was hoping that someone would have the same result as I did . I will continue playing and keep totally away from the R1button to see if it continues to work for me.

That definitely sounds like a bug and he said he hit a single. In the developer tournament, I forget who, one of the devs sent their runner home from 2B on a ground out.

But yeah, I'd watch your replay to see if there is an issue.

            Re: Baserunning

I've played with auto baserunning in most of my games. Most of the time, things are fine. My big issue is that when I do a hit and run and my hitter gets what should be a single, the player who was on first stops at second instead of continuing to 3rd base. I end up with runners on 1st and 2nd instead, and trying to tell the lead runner to keep moving doesn't work well either, because he's slowing down or sliding into second instead of sprinting the whole time, and he'll get caught if I then tell him to continue.

I had the bases loaded one time and every player dove back to the bag after contact with two outs. It's pretty unplayable right now.

Wow. I haven't had any of that, thankfully. My only issues seem to happen when I'm directing a player to steal/run. Otherwise, the runners may be a little over cautious, but if there's a clear hit, then anyone on 2nd and 3rd runs and usually tries to score.

Are you doing this with autobaserunning? Because if you are telling the runner to steal, it cancels autobaserunning and forcing you to control the runner, so you would have to send them to 3rd manually.

Hope they change it so you don't override autobaserunning with prepitch actions (leadoffs/steals).

Yes, that is exactly what I am doing. And you seem to be correct in what's happening. However, I've been doing it this way for years without this issue. Autobaseunning, manual direction to steal, and then it becomes a hit & run if the pitch is in a good spot. The SS moves toward second to cover the bag, leaving a big hole between 2nd and 3rd base, and I not only end up avoiding the DP, but I end up with men on 1st and 3rd. Its been a part of my strategy with less than two outs for a long, long time.

Yup, they added the ability to override CPU baserunning decisions in 16, and unfortunately leading off and stealing both do that. Hopefully that is something they change in the next patch.

No auto base running fix from this patch. Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer. Everyone please go up vote the bug report.

OK, yeah I really prefer the hybrid system of before, when after you give a command, after that is executed, it reverts to auto.

Ugh... yeah. No fix yet. Just hit a ball into the short gap with a guy on 1st. He dived back to the 1st base bag while the batter was running for first. I notice what's happening and start jamming/spamming the L1 button to get my runner to go to 2nd. He DOES! He barely makes it! Yay!!!!! But... dammit!!! I notice my batter is now ALSO running for 2nd. Crap! I start jamming the R1 button to get him to retreat. Ugh... too late. Out. Lose the game. dammit.

Dark health, story of every game I played, just give up until it's fixed because the game is broken and will only make you mad. First patch, and no fix. I guess I will just leave it sitting on the shelf longer. It's unplayable.

I'm sorry that so many of you seem to be having these severe issues. I wonder why everyone is not? Glad mine are minor, by comparrison. Have you tried just playing with manual control instead?
