    Re: Baserunning

I have not seen baserunners diving back to bags on hits...but I believe those who say it happens to them.

What I am most frustrated about is very simple...with auto running I should not have to worry about any of the runners...they should advance or hold up when appropriate. Right now they don't. The systems is expecting me as the user to tell the runners when to advance by using the left trigger. Why did this change with 16? And how is this auto running? The lead runner will stop unless I tell them to continue to next base...not all the time, but about 50% of the time for me. I don't know what logic in the game drives this, but it does happen.

They must have screwed something up when tweaking assisted running this year that is overlapping with auto running. Surely, this could not have been an accepted design decision!

      Re: Baserunning

I don't think I've seen a single Auto Baserunning issue since I quit controlling leads, queuing steals and using the Fisheye camera. I don't know if the three are connected to the issues but I no longer see them.

For the record, I've never seen guys diving back to base on hits. Not once.

Last year you could be queuing steals and it wouldn't turn off auto baserunning. I guess the question some have is did they change it by design or is it a bug?

          Re: Baserunning

I have seen it just on basehits to the wall..many times the guy will just stop at first. Or the runner at second will just stop at third even though he could have easily scored without a throw.

            Re: Baserunning

They need to just revert back to the way it was last year. I have seen auto base running working at times but most of the time it's broken. The little baseball diamond in the top right will sometimes say auto base running enabled and other times it will not say that which is when the issues arise. I know it has nothing to do with people pressing R1 or L1, it's just a glitch that causes auto base running to be disabled at times.

I absolutely agree! Last year it was fine. I haven't played a single game in 16, waiting for this issue to be fixed while editing the roster.

It has to be some sort of bug. Was playing a game last night. Was in the 8th inning, and had just noticed I had not had an incident yet. Had two outs, with runners on 1st and 2nd. Batter singled to left, and both runners are frozen where they had taken their leads. Again, I had queued nothing. Left fielder throws to 3rd for the force out. Sigh....

That kind of stuff is why I will not play 16 until the issue is fixed. I do not want to play baseball and see professional players look that silly. Well, that does happen occasionally when I bat for them. However, if they knew how old I am, I think they would forgive me

I think that's the "secret" - we can't give any actions to the runner or the game assumes it we want control that play.

The only issue with that is I have no idea what the game uses to determine if runners want to go. Well - I know Baserunning Aggressiveness has an impact, but even guys with low BRA will go and low Steal Ability will long lead. I guess that's hit-and-runs?

But, yeah, if I leave the runners alone, auto baserunning tends to be decent...when Ortiz isn't trying to take extra bases anyway.

I'm guessing it's a deliberate change that sometimes glitches. Obviously, runners not moving at all, diving back, etc, has to be something going wrong, but I have a feeling the "queuing a steal makes it manual baserunning" is by design.

Of course, it could be a bug, but sometimes sports games "change up" on us and sometimes it's stuff like this where we want the MLB15 way - and there's no option to toggle.

Would be nice if someone from the game confirmed whether or not it's by design.

The CPU is awesome at baserunning as seen in this video:

Not sure if this is a glitch or not as I've seen MLB players not cover the bag, but there was nothing I could do. CPU controlled players didn't cover 2B and the CPU baserunner doesn't even slow down on the way to 2B. He sees no one is there and turns a single into a double. lol

                        Then there's this:

Runner on 1st dives back to 1st base on a grounder to second. Double play.

                          Ugh. That's terrible.

I think what might be happening is that when the ball was in the air (since it didn't bounce until just past the mound), the runner thought "CRAP A LINE DRIVE TO THE 2B" and thought he needed to go back.

It's like they are too scared of getting doubled off. Maybe that's why some are seeing it more than others? The types of grounders they hit?

                          I don't know - but that's just...wow.

Yeah, I think it has something to do with line drives or ball speed off the bat, but any person in real life would see the trajectory and realize it is not going to be caught. Of course, this not being real life...

I'd actually be fine with it if I could watch an animation of the player getting chewed out by the manager.

The strange thing is, this never happens with cpu (your opponent's) base runners. It's not a global issue. It only happens to user teams.
